- Where there are battles to be filmed there's stunt training to be done, and Season 4 certainly isn't short of a scuffle or two! Emily Cox has been hard at work honing her combat skills and allowed us to tag along.
Season 4 of The Last Kingdom is streaming now on NETFLIX.
I loved her character then hated her then loved her and now hate her again. It’s glorious. Great writing and acting

FatalxDecaay all Professional archers probably thought like this back than. There are some sources about archers holding 3 arrows in their hand shooting every 2 seconds. But Not gonna lie he still has mad skills!
@@fatalxdecaay2817 Looks like a very low poundage bow. Would be ineffective in war. This is purely trick shooting.
@@Tom-mk7nd Also his form doesn't look good to me. Grip and stance don't look appropriately diagonal. And Emily's shooting even after the lesson was so bad I'm not sure if she was taught well at all haha. (I'm just an intermediate/beginner archer though so idk).
@@Foneio I think I have to disagree with this slightly. If you watch in slowmo he does all the things you'd expect an archer to do like releasing the string near his jaw. The one thing that isn't so great is how his hand moves after releasing the string, but I am chalking that up to him trying to move fast to get the next arrow.
This is one of those shows there will just never be enough of. DESTINY IS ALL.

I mean there was like a truce between them.But like uthred not killing earlier would have lead to her not going to valhalla and not reuniting with ragnar if not for sigtrygger so i get her anger and resentment

Hi there I was with a viking reenactment group for quite a few years, and I couldn't fight with sword and shield, but my trainer said had I tried the quaterstalf, so I tried that and got very good with it, I was made up to a worrier and all the men were frightened of me on the field, but I really loved reenactment, my husband and I were married into the pagon faith and today I still have my pentogram but I lost my hammer but I still have my pagon faith ❤️ my husband has gone to but his memory lives on. ❤️

Brida is a wild one in the show, I like her character in both the show and real life.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that Uhtred and Brida are the only two characters that have survived to this point.... at least who were there from the start. I've watched the 4rth season repeatedly, love every time through, see new stuff every time through! I love it; best series ever! I'm certain many of you will agree that season 5 can't get here soon enough

I love Brida. She's not evil. She's driven by rage and grief and a deep sense of abandonment. I don't understand the hate people have for the character. More than anything she's a survivor...think of people who have endured unspeakable tragedy. Sometimes it makes them more compassionate. Often it makes them deranged. When she talks about how her son will be loyal to her like no man ever has, it's just heartbreaking to think how much pain she must have endured to think this way.
Really, Emily Cox just nails her character in such a poignant way.
Agreed. For me it was hard seeing her become bitter (in the words of Leofric "Brida has always been angry...now she is nasty") but at the same time it wasn't sloppy writing of "Okay now she just randomly wants everyone dead" she has totally valid reasons to be how she is. And we saw it blossom in season 1 where it is clear that it stems from dedication to the Danes, which makes Uhtred's constant switching sides VERY frustrating for her. Her final straw (in my opinion) was her losing Ragnar, she was still gentle with him and kept some of that teasing personality reserved for him. Once he was gone it really severed any kind of connection she had with Uhtred, and of course her second enslavement in season 4 was really her breaking point. Such a strong badass character, and to see her evolve since the little girl on the steps in season 1, has been fantastic.

Man, Brida devolving into a RAGING ball of ANGER and HATE, is just soooo sad to see! 😩😢 Uhtred should've sent her to Valhalla, the first time she asked, after killing Cnut.
Instead, he allowed her to be captured!... And ENSLAVED, of all things! Something he himself intimately experienced, almost to his detriment, along with the loss/death of his best friend at the time, HALIG. Tsk-tsk Uhtred! Tsk-tsk!
Allowing her to be captured from a storyline perspective works as a valid justification for Brida's anger and hatred towards Uhtred. While her getting captured doesn't happen in the books and I don't want to give away spoilers, but based on the books Brida is pretty much consumed with anger and hate for Uhtred at this point and adding in her getting captured serves as a valid justification for this.
In the books Brida takes over ownership of Durhum following Ragnar's death (The castle they captured in Episode 4 of Season 2) and her hatred and resentment for leaving Uhtred leaving Ragnar and going off to save Æthelflæd instead of staying with the Danish Army (As seen in Episode 3 of Season 3) festers with her and boils over. So she is essentially at this point consumed by this hatred as per the books. Furthermore, Brida is also not aware of Uhtred's reasons for this and Alfred's demands of Uhtred (the one he explains to her in Episode 6 of Season 3) as that scene by the lake does not occur in the books so she just feels like Uhtred doesn't care about the Danes and Ragnar.
By deviating from the books a little in this way they are giving a more visual justification for her anger towards Uhtred for not killing her as she asked him to. From a story line perspective, it works better the way they have told it on screen than it does if they where to remain faithful to the book when you consider the overall story arch of the character. It would be interesting to see how faithful they remain to the books if they get another season.
@@lardonirdesco Yes, her anger is well understood... It's his (Uhtred's) decision making in that moment, that I'm disappointed with. Thought at least he would try something/anything to rescue her later on, or pay a ransom for her... Like he has done many times before, for people he considers FAMILY. I find him abandoning her, to be completely UNCHARACTERISTIC of the Uhtred that had been presented to us up to that point.
In the books, she cut genital of Uhtred's eldest son ( Uhtred has two sons in the books). Let's see what happens in the next season ...

There is another book due out in October/November, But personally I don't reckon the show will get beyond another season.. Again no spoilers, but as they are doing two books a season, The ultimate conclusion of book 10 which will end season 5 could be considered as a fitting completion for one of characters if they decide to show it. So if done right it could be a fitting place to end it if they choose.
Ultimately the main conclusion to the story is the formation of England which its said that the book due out at the end of the year will conclude with as its expected this will be the last book in the series.
Accuracy to the books in general has been hit and miss so far. The last episode of season 4 was a complete deviation from the text as in the book its Sigtryggr attacking with Uhtred defending, and its also its the Roman fort at Chester they are defending, not Winchester. But I guess that is more down to budget rather than anything else.
@@lardonirdesco Yes, it is actually the 13th and final book in the series titled "War Lord." This current season 4, are book 7 - The Pagan Lord and book 8 - The Empty Throne.
So I'm guessing the rest will be as follows:
Season 5: Book 9 - Warriors of the Storm --- Book 10 - The Flame Bearer
Season 6: Book 11 - War of the Wolf --- Book 12 - Sword of Kings
******** And a possible (shortened) Season 7 with ONLY one book left. Book 13 - War Lord *******

Just stream it online, but be carefull, all sites are of course shitholes. You will need an addblocker against retarded pop ups, a bit of knowledge about not clicking on things that give you virusses and of course never pay for the scamsites. I go arround the internet for years without virus scanner and never got anything and Ive been on sketchy sites. My parenrs only check mail and watch the wetter and got several weird virusses. So I think a lot can be prevented by just being aware to look out for.
Hate that its not just on netflix. Got hyped for two weeks. Then it just didnt drop. Really sucks here in the Netherlands. Maybe using a proxy is an idea. Its usually safer, but for me streaming it on another site was just easier.
