The Last Kingdom is great, it’s definitely better than Vikings now, but realistically no it’s not better than Game of Thrones. Vikings has really fallen off since they started focusing on Ivar. I don’t think he’s a good character and the only ones that have decently written characters left are Ubbe and Björn. Game of Thrones has made some questionable decisions recently and had somewhat choppy writing lately, but it’s still superior to any show on tv. This season greatly improved the show in some aspects like production value. But it’s still has its flaws, some where very annoying this season, and others you can just let slide for the sake of the plot. I’ll just say to not spoil anything, characters weren’t making decisions that make any sense.
Great show. Not over sexed like GOT or Spartacus where every other minute someone was having sex, cussing or killing. This show is evidence a show can be great without overdone filth. Love TLK. Awesome cast.

Had Aethelwold had lands or money of its own or even an army, he would have been a serious threat to Alfred. Aethelwold was doomed by his father the moment he chose Alfred over his own son. Aethelwold should have bent the knee and promised loyalty to Alfred, a *real* oath. Other than that, there was no way for Aethelwold to gain anything from Alfred. And he knew it, it's why he constantly aligned with different people than Alfred, even on s1 when he aligns himself with Uhtred who is basically an outlaw (at some point) doing what he wants. Thing is, the little leeway Alfred gave him, Aethelwold used it to sap Alfred's authority. @tammie heazlit Have you read the books? I've read all 11 of the Saxon series, Bernard Cornwell is a master storyteller and this series does him justice.
I have watched, re-watch, and re-watch! I'm having withdrawals from the series that it ended and there's nowhere to go now! We need another series like this, it's first class. Thank-you!
This show seriously needs more recognition. These guys did such an incredible job making 3 amazing seasons of building such rich characters that you can so relate to in a way. I think this show feels different to me in a way that you really feel a connection to each character; especially uthred. Me and the wife were in tears on episode 9 and 10. Now we need season 4 please!
This series is so fantastic because these are my ancestors. My DNA is exactly matching the history that this series re-enacts so well. I am from California however how we ended up there is one of adventurous ancestry. My forefathers came to this land (USA) in the early 1600's from Norway, France, England, Scotland, and Germany as well as Wales, Sweden. This is my ancestry and I am 77 years of age, my grandparents were frontier people in Arkansas, Kentucky, North Carolina, Virginia from England Scotland Wales, and Germany. This series spoke to me on so many levels that it captured feelings within me of my ancestry that I can not put into words. It's feelings of belonging to something greater than the present-day but from years long past and echos through my heart. I have watched every episode to the very last! To say that I loved it is an understatement! Great job cast and producers.
Toby plays such a vile little critter. Brilliant work. Absolutely love the show. Im on season 3 for the second time. It is brilliant. Absolutely fantastic.
When I watched Reign I agreed, but now, watching Alexander, Toby pales in comparison....but Toby does make us hate him in this series and I keep thinking, Francis, why are you being so mean???
So I was asking my BF for Netflix suggestions , and he answers "there's one good series but i don't wanna tell ya because you'd fall for the lead actor." Boy did i fall hard! Ouch! Alexander is something else.😭💔
I'm a real fan of Vikings too but there are bits of both series I like but it really got me interested in our viking history and the town where I live had Saxons and Viking settlements, the foundations of which are seen today. I think England is a truly interesting place and the historical significance that even my town has everything from dinosaur bones, listed in the Doomsday book and roman baths just down the road. Fascinating! And makes you truly think about all of the different cultures that have made us what we are today. If it wasn't for the nomadic nature of humans we would not be able to appreciate all we have today.
If you're from England as it is now then Vicking is part of your heritage, so is Roman . Celtic are from the north. Could be mixed with Celtic too. But I find it weird that most white English don't know their heritage. They seem to think they're the indigenous to the English Lands. Part of your heritage erased.
@LDN EDD damn, you seem quite angry. is this the first time you are hearing this? The Romans came, left and didn't leave ANY DNA. WOW, how uneducated do you sound. The coming together of lands and naming it Britain is not the same thing as the DNA YOU HAVE. I like to talk to individuals who make me more intellegent by sharing new factual info. Keep being in denial and pass it on to your kids as your fathers passed it onto you. I'm done with this foolishness.
Binged all 4 seasons this Thanksgiving weekend. Thoroughly wowed by the layered characters, their portrayals, the constantly yet organically evolving dynamics, amazing battle sequences... I could just go on and on and on. One of the best in Historic fictions in Netflix!
The Saxon Tales, what this series is based on, has 10 novels and each season of The Last Kingdom covers 2 books, we've had 3 seasons (2 books each) so we're 6 books in now at the end of Season 3. There should be 5 seasons in total, where Season 4 will cover Books 7 and 8, Season 5 will cover Books 9 and 10. Looking forward to it!
There’s a lot of good actors on this show. King Alfred, Athelwulf and Father Beocca. These characters and the actors who play them are quite amazing. I hope they get the recognition they deserve.
I'm currently re-watching all 5 seasons in preparation for the release of the movie in April. I can't say enough good things about this show, cast and crew. I'm glad to see Harry in this interview... he played an amazing Aethelwold... he was so easy to laugh at, laugh with and hate all at the same time. 😆
Harry is so articulate and smart. I love everything he's saying. Alexander kind of meets him head to head and tries to further discuss his opinions and arguments cause he's also smart but talks much less. Emily is literally just there to laugh and Toby is just there to joke around. I don't think he answered anything seriously
I just found this show and am addicted.... I binge watched all three seasons and now sit waiting for 4 . These actors are top notch and the writing for the show is awesome, keep um coming Netflix PAY THEM WELL they deserve it.
Completely binge watched and was so drawn in by the characters and how they were unrelated but completely entwined in each story line. Afterwards, I found myself watching documentaries on this time period and learning the real history.
I truly enjoy watching The Last Kingdom. I have watched all 3 seasons several times now. I have read all of Bernard Cornwell's series, The Saxon Tales. The Last Kingdom, producers and cast have done an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. I anxiously look forward to watching Season 4, when it is ready for release. Netflix, thank you for picking up The Last Kingdom.
Bernard Is the best writer and novelist I have read. The Last Kingdom series of books I will cherish and read again. I love how the history is told. The books I read before watching the series so was up to speed with Utred. I was excited when the TV series came out and think they did an excellent job. Also Alexander was so good and brought Utred to life. His presence and persona is absolutely believable. I hope we see more of Alexander in the future. I’m almost sad that this will be the final series in book and TV. These books will live on they are so good. Also heads up to the rest of the cast great job acting and making it so real. Altogether a great production team.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
My husband watched this series without me. He told me that I wouldnt like it. Months later I binge watched 4 seasons and loved it. I'm going to have to rethink this marriage thing.
Uhtred has been betrayed by so many in this series, I'm happy it has not changed his heart. Love this show. Thank you, to the writers and actors and actresses, good job!!!! Love to you all❣️
Season 3 was amazing. Everybody in the cast is amazing. And this season particularly David Dawson gave his best performance is Alfred. He is always done a good job in my opinion but the way they were able to use makeup and how he was able to show Alfred the Motions without saying a word and just using his facial and body expressions really knocked it out of the park. And Alexander dreymon and Emily Cox both did a wonderful job. Alexander has a way of making you feel for him when he cries or is upset. Sometimes when actors cry it's just not convincing, but Alexander makes it so convincing. Season 1 where he lost his baby. Season 2 The hardship and loss he went through when he was a slave and in 3 when Gisela died. Not to mention Ragnar's death. Having just gotten into the Series this year and only having to wait six or seven months for season 3 was great. But now that you know that I might have to wait a year to a year-and-a-half for season 4, if they even do a season 4 as it has not been announced that they are going to is a tough wait.
Really really enjoyed this interview. Love Harry's sense of humour and the great pride each of the actors have in being a part of this series. Thank you 'hey you guys' 😊
I think my wife is going to divorce me, she is in love with Utred, she just loves this show. I must admit it is very addicting, great characters, hope there is a few new seasons, season 3 was excellent, so please make a season 4, my wife is packing her bag!
HAHHAHAHHAHAHAH omg this comment made my day! It’s been 1 year since you commented I’m assuming your wife left ages cuz they released season 4 just now 😜
To keep from endlessly pining after him I have to keep reminding myself that Uhtred isn’t a real person... then Alex grabs and kisses Harry on the head in full Uhtred manner 🙈 Aahhh I’m 14 again jeez
Best historical series ever with the perfect cast and their characters. I have mixed feelings about all the characters, some I loved to hate, some I hated to love and a some I loved all the way to the end! Wish it didn't have to end...yet. ❤
I love watching interviews with the TLK cast. They seem so genuine and sincere and give non-generic responses. You can't deny their off-camera chemistry and I appreciate the the anecdotes they share. Even Aethelwold, one of my least favorite characters, I can't hate bc the actor is funny IRL. Makes me love this show even more.
Waiting impatiently for Season 3 to start and hoping they will continue to make more seasons based on all the books as I have them all. This is a very well made show, love watching it and all the characters are very good at their parts. 💕💕💕
This is the best historical portrayal, in my opinion. The whole f#king Cast were brilliant. How did the writers, the Cast and everyone, produce such a wonderful piece of art like this. Uhtred's journey was so mysterious to watch and the deceptions was so well thought through. And that is to say the least.
Harry really created some magic with Aethelwold this season. His confidence in his devious plans juxtaposed with his fear when there is a wrench thrown in the works is displayed perfectly on his face.

Watching Reign on Netflix now😩😩 Francis/Toby is such a great actor. Literally feel and hold on to his every word he say. Ugh♥️
Fr
Alexander Dreymon is otherworldly gorgeous 😍 ❤
I like Emily Cox laughter
Fantastic series, David Dawson as Alfred brilliant deserves an award
They are all brilliant I would even say Elisa Butterworth should also get one here and Alfred’s words always seem so poignant and epic
Julia Dawson vikings is by far interior and is more popular some how
If you're from England as it is now then Vicking is part of your heritage, so is Roman . Celtic are from the north. Could be mixed with Celtic too. But I find it weird that most white English don't know their heritage. They seem to think they're the indigenous to the English Lands. Part of your heritage erased.
@ldn edd☝🏾Comment
Watch season 5 !!!
Wish i could touch Toby’s hair😍😆.. love all of you guys, the show is great👍🏻
Devi Anggraini creepy but same
Alexander! How is it possible to be so beautifull !
I have been wondering every day. Such a perfection.
Omg yes! Alexander is otherworldly gorgeous. I have a Pinterest board in his honor. 😍
tbh, I started watching The Last Kingdom because of Toby Regbo. The same reason I'm watching this video right now. No regrets.
Funny, I started because of Toby also, but now.....it's Alexander ALL THE WAY...an amazingly excellent actor !!!
When you thought this show is underrated and you see comments and everybody love that gorgeous Arseling. ❤
I love how uthred picks up an accent half way in the show lol
I noticed that
But it's an Irish accent. It shouldn't be.. Scottish accent is acceptable though cause he's from the North.
Sorcus didn’t the author say he had two more books coming? If so we should get 6 at least.
Man i hope you are correct
Actually the 11th book came out earlier this fall... and it isn't the end
Doesn't look like there'll be an end but I hope they wrap up the show before they start dragging it on too long a la vikings.
@@Cheximus There will be an end, the books have finished with Uhtred finally returning to Bebbanburg. Vikings will go on forever lmao
In love with this show! Alexander is my favorite he is just gorgeous 😍 and an amazing actor! I'd love to meet him I'm person 🤩
This show is bloody brilliant I expected it to be a corny medieval show but the stories are bloody brilliant
Totally underrated show dont know why they dont push this more? One of the best things on Netflix🥰👍
Emily Cox is one of those women that gets prettier every time you see her..
Did you see her in that brief love scene with Utred?!
@@gripjim 😁
I finished all 3 seasons in 2 days. So now am watching all their TH-cam interviews
Anyone sitting next to Alexander will likely get a hug and possibly a kiss
Liz I want a kiss on the cheek from him and a hug from him
Harry McIntyre is definitely one to watch. As is Alexander Dreymon, obviously...he's sooo goodlooking!!
I’m not keen on medieval style shows, but this show has me hooked. I hope it goes on for a bit. Amazing writing and actors.
Not from Medievil period
I just found this show and am addicted.... I binge watched all three seasons and now sit waiting for 4 . These actors are top notch and the writing for the show is awesome, keep um coming Netflix PAY THEM WELL they deserve it.
You are lucky. I been watching since season 1.... each season is a LONG wait.
Toby is so beautiful, I just can't take my eyes off of him 😍😍😍 and harry aka aethelworld is hilarious!
I just love hearing Emily's laugh. Is she laughing because Toby is so funny?
Her laugh is annoying especialy when you're trying to hear the guy's answering their question.
she's obviously into him
I think they just smoked a joint! 😁
I mean Toby is adorable
This show is addicting and just love it, makes you wanna live that life. All the actors did a good job 👍🏾
Same. after I finished watch season 5 i feel like somehow i still attached to the series. Like some part of me is gone
I would like to know when they're filming the love scenes how do they do that without being aroused because it seems so real at this end??
Toby Regbo is such a dream😍😍😍😍 cutest human in the world
You must not have seen Kivanc Tatlitug yet.
I know 🥺❤️🥰
Shame his character is such a prick I can't wait for him to die... (but Tony seems like a pretty chill guy so...lol)
67pearse maybe you should watch reign because he plays a humble king. And not a dickish lord lol 😂
0:13 Toby’s eyes just slightly widening killed me 😂
The Last Kingdom deserves more recognition and i'm telling you, it gets better and season 4 is so amazing! Destiny is all!!!
And season 5 piece da resistance
My husband watched this series without me. He told me that I wouldnt like it. Months later I binge watched 4 seasons and loved it. I'm going to have to rethink this marriage thing.
Whos here after the release of Season 4?
Magic Marlon Moraes this month!
me!!!!
✋
Me just binged watched season 4. Season 5????
Bring on season 5 , season 4 didn't last long!
From Kenya and I'm in love with this show. Should get more attention. It's great.
This the only show where my heart ached after a death
Which one? For me, this was Erik.
@@the_mia_miaThyra death 😢
Awe...Love those four characters!!! Hope Uhtred and Brida reunite once again; hopefully in Season 4!
Uhtred has been betrayed by so many in this series, I'm happy it has not changed his heart.
Love this show. Thank you, to the writers and actors and actresses, good job!!!! Love to you all❣️
I couldn't stop watching this series. The best that I seen....ever!
Athelwold's humour on the show is incredibly amazing
I can't believe the show is over 😔 would appreciate some more of Lord Uhtred! Destiny is all
Movie coming
April 17
I love toby just as much as I hate aethelred... that’s a lot of love GREAT ACTOR
I love this show. It's not afraid of closing out plot points and killing off characters. Most under rated show out there IMHO.
I stumbled on to this series on NetFlix - Instantly addicted! Love the history and the accents - so refreshing. Can't wait for Season 5!
Hahah
Take care about your wife
lyenokio1 😜👍🏻
HAHHAHAHHAHAHAH omg this comment made my day! It’s been 1 year since you commented I’m assuming your wife left ages cuz they released season 4 just now 😜
lyenokio1 tell her we will have to fight for him! Lol
For the name of God, I would divorce myself for Uhtred, as well :)))))
To keep from endlessly pining after him I have to keep reminding myself that Uhtred isn’t a real person... then Alex grabs and kisses Harry on the head in full Uhtred manner 🙈 Aahhh I’m 14 again jeez
Uhtred the Bold actually existed. Maybe he was something like that? ;)
14 is about right! Lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love those bits too! My first crush and I'm NOT 14! 🤗
I know right, he is the real deal.
Hahahahaha omg same I’m 25 and I feel like 14. 😩
Best historical series ever with the perfect cast and their characters. I have mixed feelings about all the characters, some I loved to hate, some I hated to love and a some I loved all the way to the end! Wish it didn't have to end...yet. ❤
Can't wait for season 3!!
tgrasshopper Tony I wish I could watch it I can’t have Netflix and bbc dropped it
Ha ha, it's great - lots of us are now waiting on 4!
Just watching the show again from the start , for those wjo have not seen this , its worth watching lots of good action and twists .
This series, and these actors, bring me more joy than I can express...!!!! :)
Most interesting well made series ever! Every actor was perfect choice for their role! Magnificent! Masterpiece.
It's the BEST show!!! I'm in love with the person Uhtred is, not to mention he's beautiful! So happy season 5 is happening!!
i admit,i fell in love with Uhtred’s accent
I spent the last 2 and half days binging this show..im hooked
Waiting impatiently for Season 3 to start and hoping they will continue to make more seasons based on all the books as I have them all. This is a very well made show, love watching it and all the characters are very good at their parts. 💕💕💕
its on Netflix
My fave show of all time. I have a spiritual connection to this show. Moved me in a deep way.
Love their chemistry. Bring on season 5!
Watching this interview makes me so happy because it seems all these guys get along so well
Brida really matched her character well in the movie ..She is stunning with those laughs ..
