    I think y'all are teaching your children more than they'll ever learn in the American education system. Not to mention financial, how to take care of themselves and what to do in amor every situation, and diversity. Renee & Keith y'all are doing an awesome job and I look up to y'all and striving to get there too. 💕💕💕💕 Y'all

    The thing is I don’t understand a word about engines and systems etc and therefore cannot muster any real interest ……. But I still watch every vid because I adore Keith , his sense of humour , his approach to life and love listening to him !

    I used to work in a Marina and build sailboats when I was a teenager, I went in the Navy and retired.
    Been watching Sailing Zatara with my family, as we too traveled a lot, but not like this. Traveled the whole United States with a RV.
    My wife and kids are all wanting to buy a sailboat! Not one of them have ever sailed! This ought to get interesting real fast... Thanks Sailing Zatara! Love watching your adventures!

    Discovered your channel and absolutely love the fact you aren’t constantly promoting gear, clicks, monetizing or patreon. Add that to the fact you have an amazingly awesome family and you’re obviously good (great) folks. Spent a lot of time on the water throughout my life, my dad was a ship captain so grew up on the sea. At 58 I’m considering doing something similar and you’re motivating and mesmerizing me with your content. I’m also tired of chasing the almighty dollar when that ends up being all you do and not living life fully. Cheers and thanks for the inspiration!

    Thank you for the tour! Great looking machine. I'm an arm chair Corona sailer only. (My current boat is an STV tunnel hull, 110+mph river racer) I've been watching Catamaran tours with great interest.
    From my living room the important features I think I would want is a flying bridge/helm with a weatherproof hard top. Forward facing nav station with good visibility, galley up, and a forward cockpit area. Enjoy your videos. Keep em coming.

    You guys are great to watch btw it’s a true family television show comparable to some of the great ones we grew up with like Home Improvement w Tim the Tool Man Taylor lol 🤗 your whole family is just a joy to watch and everybody has an equal and special role to play. We love how you guy’s don’t take things too seriously and have a good sense of humor and are just as goofy as our family, it really makes you relatable to the typical all American family and it’s just such a pleasure to watch, so thank you for putting the time and effort in to bring us into your weird n whacky world of wonderment and adventure 🙏🤗❤️

    This may be a little late but I didn't see any discussion of engine problems but I think I heard Keith mention an engine failure.
    Nevertheless I want to mention the necessity of cleaning the recirculating cooling tubes that saltwater is pumped through to cool an engine if the motors have isolated cooling system.
    I used a piece of #10 insulated stranded copper wire to push the corrosive build up through the tubes to the outflow side on my sons single hull single diesel engine sailboat. Didn't have a wire brush small enough or long enough to reach the length of tubes about 18 inches. This allowed engine to run cooler and avoided imminent engine failure.
    Good luck. Thumbs up.

  • @jameshaley8834
    @jameshaley8834 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    A superb presentation, Keith. Really fine. I enjoyed it immensely. You have a very complex machine and a good mastery of it. Incidentally, My home in the Santa Cruz Mountains is off the grid and powered exclusively by Solar. Your battery setup and solar panels and backup generator are almost identical to mine in power and consumption. Also, curiously, you have exactly the same kind of little super flashlight that I have. It's great to work witn in a dark space because you can hold it in your mouth and have your hands free to work with. You're going to have a great adventure witn this boat. I can hardly wait for you to cast off and get underweigh. love to all, Jim

    Great point about the alternator being under the water pump, however if you're changing out the water pump, you've removed the belt already, it's only two bolts and a plug to remove the alternator. Alternators are pretty tough as long as they aren't energized, I never worried about getting the one wet on my truck and I used to spray off that engine every time I washed the truck. Great video!

    • @pictishboar
      @pictishboar 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes but when a water pump fails it leaks first most of the time, ruining the alternator and the water pump without you knowing. Alternator should always be on the top.

    Hi, we use roughly 220amps at 24volts per day. Using lifepo4, and Victron Quattro we can run everything (kettle, cookers, washing machine etc) off batteries? Recharge via 900w solar (gives between 2 and 4kwh day depending upon season), 150 amp/4v alternator (gives about 90amps continuous at cruising revs and controlled temp) and lastly 100ah charge from 120ah mains charger using genset. Hope these numbers help. Lifepo4 is the game changer by a mile. I did diy, 400ah at 24v with a v good bms and relays was euro5000.
    Thanks for your channel, just found you and enjoying it whilst we live on our 57' mono
