Lg fanboy here. I truly love my g5 and dont understand why so much people hate it. It has great specs, great screen, great camera and really good speakers also, the ui is just pleasing to look at and i got the charging craddle on deck so battery life is no problem. My only complaint is the build. It does not feel so good. Trust me, it has a good feel in the hand but it is not comparable to the s7. But overall, the device is great and i can recommend it to anyone.
For the cradle just buy the original one. Go to amazon and type lg g5 extra battery. My favorite case is the poetic affinity and for the screen protector i went with the icarez lg g5 screen protector.

A phone should be functional like a Swiss Army Knife and this one seeks to be just that. The phone may not win any style points, but most people will slap a phone cover over it anyhow so thats not a big deal. This is a must buy for me personally.

Samsung and Apple have shown that they are done innovating. They just want to coast on former success. We as consumers should support innovation, because otherwise we would still be relying on landlines for communication, or perhaps even snail mail.

I am not an iphone guy, and I hate samsung, which I tried too. I also owned Sony for a while, its a shame. LG is the best smart phone I ever owned. if you try it you will never change to other brands. Thinking to upgrade to LG G5 soon.

I own a g4 too, my best time and the phone I loved the most was the google galaxy nexus though.. no phone has ever matched it in smoothness, almost felt like iOS just because android was specifically designed for that phone.. I ll continue to believe that the nexus series will always be the best, I only changed to g4 because of the price, and superior features and camera.. it never matched the old nexus on OS stability and smoothness though.. :( no matter how much cpu power they pack in they always fail in making the thing 100% compatible

The G5 DOES have a laser AF, it's written on the official webpage, and he can see it clearly besides the LED flash. I thought he just didn't mention it, but then I was surprised that he even tells the absence of it.
Yeah a lot of "reviewers" aren't very good at doing research or actually trying the device when the lg go first came out almost everyone hated it, looked ugly, fake metal, replaceable battery/modular function.
People can say what they want but removable battery + SD card tray + great camera setup + IR blaster = win. Sure there are some shortcomings, but the phone is honestly innovative. Hopefully the v20 is even better.

I love what LG has done with the G5 good to see we still have the option to have an app draw , qslide apps for multitasking, removable battery , micro sd card suport , i.r blaster and finger print scanner. Great job LG and good review 👍
The LG G5 is the best phone i have ever owned, almost 1 year old now and havent started to lag out even a little bit. and i use it ALOT. i owned lg g2 and lg g3 before this one :)
+demertknight it's not only about looks. The nexus 6p is not a looker but it doesn't get this much of haye. The main issue is the shoddy build quality. Also light bleed. The quality control of the first batch has been really poor by LG
Happy with my G4. I really like where they are going though and happy they haven't abandoned their core ideals. exited to see what happens in the next few years.
Great review. I had the G5 for 14 days. Loved the innovation uniqueness, camera 🎥, & loud speaker, promotional 360 cam,/ free battery. Unfortunately I had to return it. I had a bleeding screen, wifi and drop issues. G5 isn't for everyone.
well you have to give kudos to LG for thinking outside of the box and trying to reinvent the smartphone.....love the idea of having access to change the battery and add different things!

This is still my backup phone in 2017. It can handle ANYTHING I throw it's way. Still takes great pics. And feels damn good without a case. Probably gonna throw the sim in to rock it again for a week because I miss it. If you need a badass and affordable for 2017/18, I can't recommend this enough.

I LOVE the modular design of the phone, especially making it a huge opportunity for Lucky Goldstar to bring back a good physical keyboard (e.g. LG Enact, Motorola Droid 4)! That way, people will be able to use two thumbs for messaging, instead of using one thumb at a time like on an old typewriter. This is function over form, what Android is SUPPOSE to be! :)
I just purchased the LG 5 and OMG i am blown away with the way LG has been thinking out of the box this time they have really done it totally correct. Love all the features on the LG 5 . The Camera features are amazing and cannot stop playing with the camera features. I totally recommend it.

Since its now just a few bucks over a hundred, bought one and on paper it is THE best deal for a smartphone RN. I've tried all I could to see better deals, but really, only Sony's XA/XZ/etc. Could rival. Everybody should buy 2016 flagship phones RN, they cost less than $200 but should be worth over $350 at least.

This is by far the most fair review I saw for the LG G5, and one of the best reviews I have ever seen in a while. LG must pay you. I like everything about the LG G5 and it is of course the best mobile in 2016 (except if a new Nexus came up then we would have a real competition). The only down thing for me that why the hell did LG minimized the battery capacity? To make us buy an additional modular battery extender? LG did great with the G5 and I would have bought it no questions except for the battery. But you said that it can last for the whole day, so that's ok for me.

Just brought this phone in 2021. You can upgrade the battery to 5700 mah battery for $15 off Aliexpress. Personally, I'm downgrading to this phone because it has all 3 - a headphone jack, a microSD Card slot, and a upgradable/removable battery (extremely rare to find these days). It also has decent midrange specs SD820 and Aderno 530 (although outdated) but it is enough to play most games on medium to high settings. Hope this helps.

I started with the G3 and fell in love with it I now own the G4 but took a small break and went to samsung galaxy and I have to admit that the Lg truly surpass galaxy I am about to up grade to the G5 and I can't wait
I know aesthetics aren't everything but it's something when my V10, device not really meant for looks is more of a looker than the G5. Even then, don't care for looks as I usually slap cases on anyways. As for the G5, eh. It's got that wide angle lens to it which I've already tried out and is undoubtedly fun but I don't really see myself using it. Kinda prefer the front facing dual cam setup with the V10 not for selfies but for video chats which I do, specially since the camera tends to default with the wide angle lens and is already something I love using anyways. Anyways, pretty good review, probably the best one that doesn't completely downplay the phone with its drawbacks like some reviewers (*cough* The Verge *cough*) and highlights its plus sides too. Also, extra props to you for using Razihel for the intro music.
probably this. I was looking at the oneplus3 as well but then I looked at this. the specs are better/same apart from the ram. oneplus has 6gb and this phone has 4gb. it is down to personal preference though
I'm using LG G5 since 22 days. this is my first LG phone. I've no issues at all. I've seen so many videos criticizing this phone in and out. I don't understand why? this phone isn't bad at all. I've been using several Android, Apple and BlackBerry phones. This phone does not feel cheap at all. I'm satisfied with build quality and feel. being different is not bad. performance is top notch great cameras wide angle is very useful great display (agree s7 is slight better but you won't notice much difference) speaker is very loud fingerprint scanner is blazing fast multitasking is flawless Good user interface initially I didn't like No app drawer but I downloaded LG home 4.0 launcher and I'm all good. occasionally I use no app drawer and I started enjoying it. you get feel of iPhone but it makes life easier. though battery is 2800mah only it lasted two days being moderate user when I forgot to carry my charger. fast charging works like charm I hope we'll get audio module in North America and that's all I need being audiophile. only thing I miss is multi window feature but I Hope it'll be resolved completely once We receive Android N update and it's native multi window feature. I couldn't complain about this phone at all. I'm very heavy use. I've tons of application and phone won't leg for second. I'm very happy and satisfied with this phone ☺

The part when you said it doesn't have laser auto focus anymore, you might be mistaken because the G5 still has it. I think it's just really hard to focus when capturing images especially on low light. I had that experience with my G4.
I'm sold. I want it. Can we please talk about how they kept the IR Blaster?? I use mine on my Note 4 every day. It's a shame that Samsung got rid of it. It's a must have feature for me.
I would wait to see what happens with the note 6. I had a v10 and got rid of it because it was too buggy. They copied Samsungs UI to the T, but did not refine or perfect any of it. Every feature and look is an exact copy of Samsung. Except it is messy. The phone is smooth so the processor does not matter, it is about optimization! Youu will not notice the difference between that 808 and 820 when you base it on performance. Some people have obsessions with processors but real world performance is all that matters to me. Bench mark are useless! Ram management is great on there as well.
I dont think that Samsung "got rid of it" like they got of removable back covers. It will shure come back on the Note 6. Also, there are several other reasons for you to wait for the Note 6 until buying a phone.
I upgraded from my first gen moto x to a G5 last week, and so far, absolutely love it. Mostly got it because of the modular design/removable battery, and also because I really dont like samsungs version of android
So glad that there is a company willing to try new things and take risks.

Both, you can use normal cameras. The Nokia pureview 808 made in 2012 is 69x better than the camera on the s20.

I just purchased the LG 5 and OMG i am blown away with the way LG has been thinking out of the box this time they have really done it totally correct. Love all the features on the LG 5 . The Camera features are amazing and cannot stop playing with the camera features. I totally recommend it.

Since its now just a few bucks over a hundred, bought one and on paper it is THE best deal for a smartphone RN. I've tried all I could to see better deals, but really, only Sony's XA/XZ/etc. Could rival.
Everybody should buy 2016 flagship phones RN, they cost less than $200 but should be worth over $350 at least.

This is by far the most fair review I saw for the LG G5, and one of the best reviews I have ever seen in a while. LG must pay you.
I like everything about the LG G5 and it is of course the best mobile in 2016 (except if a new Nexus came up then we would have a real competition). The only down thing for me that why the hell did LG minimized the battery capacity? To make us buy an additional modular battery extender?
LG did great with the G5 and I would have bought it no questions except for the battery. But you said that it can last for the whole day, so that's ok for me.

Just brought this phone in 2021. You can upgrade the battery to 5700 mah battery for $15 off Aliexpress. Personally, I'm downgrading to this phone because it has all 3 - a headphone jack, a microSD Card slot, and a upgradable/removable battery (extremely rare to find these days). It also has decent midrange specs SD820 and Aderno 530 (although outdated) but it is enough to play most games on medium to high settings. Hope this helps.

I started with the G3 and fell in love with it I now own the G4 but took a small break and went to samsung galaxy and I have to admit that the Lg truly surpass galaxy I am about to up grade to the G5 and I can't wait
I know aesthetics aren't everything but it's something when my V10, device not really meant for looks is more of a looker than the G5. Even then, don't care for looks as I usually slap cases on anyways.
As for the G5, eh. It's got that wide angle lens to it which I've already tried out and is undoubtedly fun but I don't really see myself using it. Kinda prefer the front facing dual cam setup with the V10 not for selfies but for video chats which I do, specially since the camera tends to default with the wide angle lens and is already something I love using anyways.
Anyways, pretty good review, probably the best one that doesn't completely downplay the phone with its drawbacks like some reviewers (*cough* The Verge *cough*) and highlights its plus sides too. Also, extra props to you for using Razihel for the intro music.

probably this. I was looking at the oneplus3 as well but then I looked at this. the specs are better/same apart from the ram. oneplus has 6gb and this phone has 4gb. it is down to personal preference though

I'm using LG G5 since 22 days. this is my first LG phone. I've no issues at all. I've seen so many videos criticizing this phone in and out. I don't understand why? this phone isn't bad at all. I've been using several Android, Apple and BlackBerry phones. This phone does not feel cheap at all. I'm satisfied with build quality and feel. being different is not bad.

wide angle is very useful
great display (agree s7 is slight better but you won't notice much difference)
speaker is very loud
fingerprint scanner is blazing fast
multitasking is flawless

initially I didn't like No app drawer but I downloaded LG home 4.0 launcher and I'm all good. occasionally I use no app drawer and I started enjoying it. you get feel of iPhone but it makes life easier.
though battery is 2800mah only it lasted two days being moderate user when I forgot to carry my charger.
fast charging works like charm
I hope we'll get audio module in North America and that's all I need being audiophile. only thing I miss is multi window feature but I Hope it'll be resolved completely once We receive Android N update and it's native multi window feature.

My problem with that reasoning is that the phone was misleadingly advertised as metal unibody. Bryan Lee if that's true than he's an idiot. LG brought something new to the market in form of the modularity (even though it's not perfect, it's a step forward) but they clearly fucked up with the "anodised coating" and the VR headset.

The part when you said it doesn't have laser auto focus anymore, you might be mistaken because the G5 still has it. I think it's just really hard to focus when capturing images especially on low light. I had that experience with my G4.
Its dissapointing that LG jumped ship on the g6 in regards to the modules. I really liked the idea and its what made lg unique to other phones.
I'm sold. I want it. Can we please talk about how they kept the IR Blaster?? I use mine on my Note 4 every day. It's a shame that Samsung got rid of it. It's a must have feature for me.
I would wait to see what happens with the note 6. I had a v10 and got rid of it because it was too buggy. They copied Samsungs UI to the T, but did not refine or perfect any of it. Every feature and look is an exact copy of Samsung. Except it is messy. The phone is smooth so the processor does not matter, it is about optimization! Youu will not notice the difference between that 808 and 820 when you base it on performance. Some people have obsessions with processors but real world performance is all that matters to me. Bench mark are useless! Ram management is great on there as well.
I dont think that Samsung "got rid of it" like they got of removable back covers. It will shure come back on the Note 6. Also, there are several other reasons for you to wait for the Note 6 until buying a phone.
