Hi Alex, Just enjoyed watching your switch swop vlog, like others on here have said, brought back some memories of when I used to do much the same thing. There was so much more you could do yourself back then, and as another viewer said, it was so satisying. Take care and look after that hand. Jon B. 🤓
I dod enjoy this video Alex. These little fiddly jobs can make all the difference to the car and also how you feel about. I have faffed about for ages doing things like this and it can be so satisfying.
Well done with that job Alex. Handy having standard car parts you can just swap around between models and adapt as necessary. I'm sure this little video will be a help to anyone struggling with their switches.
I think the door pull on both the front doors are the correct ones for the car. My late father has a Marina Super with the same style handles. The deluxe ones look so wrong, as if they were meant to be grab handles on some other more upmarket BL car.
I think those rear door handles are correct. If I remember rightly, the padded SDL rear door pull/armrest from the saloon fouls the folding rear seat. So typical BL solution fit the DL handles... 🤣
Hi Alex. You might need the resistor and extra wires from a higher spec model for the 2 speed fan to work. They're not always in the wiring loom, and unused, due to the accountants penny pinching. Those push switches on the door post are pretty standard on many British cars, but the length of the plastic push button can vary, depending on how wide the gap is to the door. One thing to check is that they haven't worn through the paint on the contact point. I've seen some where it's done that, and a hole has worn through the door shell, causing the swith to stick on. A bit of clear plastic stuck there helps stop it happening. Don't worry about odd door furniture, with the many component supplier strikes in the 70s, some came from the factory like that, just to get them off the production lines.🫣😅
Yes there will be different wiring via a resistor for the 2-speed fan setup. It could be that someone put the front doorpulls from the 2-door Coupe into this car as an upgrade ?
@Alexsassets You could make it even more posh spec, by fitting the illumination loom to the switches, tapping them into the panel lights loom. Green let's to match the radio display. 🤔
to have a two speed fan you will have a resister in the feed to the fan for the slow running, its usually attached to the fan housing it may be already there .
Awww yeah Andrew says his Marina Is so rubbish compared to mine 😅 bless him . He has been over helping me with mine so you will see him soon. Unfortunately he visited me in his Bini

Probably made it even more tricky to do this with a broken finger . thumbs up for your work :)
That was complicated lol love the flat Eric on the back seat I remember buying one of these years ago from toysrus .brilliant video.

😆 makes sense!
Smashing education video Alex.
At 25:00 when you was testing the rear wiper your rev counter shot right over 🤔
Did it 🤣 ill have to look at that lol
This was great to watch alex. Really enjoyed it.
Hi alex i love your tiger seat covers i had those in my first car it brought meny happy memories i wish could get some now ,roy Copenhagen
You can 😍 Ebay 😎
You can power both fan speeds at the same time. No issues
Great video Alex. I was just thinking the bigger rear door handle might limit leg room?

I'm going to fit a resistor myself from a P6 rover 😄 . And I have a 2 speed switch on it's way.

Yeah I'm going to be fitting a resistor from a P6 and mounting it somewhere under the dash.
@@Alexsassets you probably know that they get hot, but just in case a reminder 🙂
Get a spring out of a brake fluid level switch, for the squirter
Nice, just bought an old switch on eBay for £2....all I need now is a car to fit it to 🤔
Pretty sure that HRW were supposed to have a warning light illuminate when switched on.
Really enjoyed that video. Hows andrew getting on with his marina? Are you going to do more videos with him. Great fun videos.

At around 24.55 your rpm meter went round to the stop. Not sure if you noticed it?
Someone else pointed that out 😆. I had no idea.
Awful switches. The facelift switches were much better. But different size hole like mini
