As someone with crippling anxiety and being extremely introverted. Everything to become a top tier freelancer makes me not want to pursue it any further. Deya you are so freaking awesome. This is some really valuable information. The reality of being a freelancer is freaking hard. This feels like something I have to force myself through an invisible brick wall. Like I have to smash my head through. Fear.
Its impossible to close a deal without a call, some even want a zoom meeting, I am so stressed. I am afraid my shyness might be a turnoff for them or might make me look like a scammer, I wish everything can be handled over text.😔
@@Rebecca-qg8pb I totally agree, it honestly kind of feels like a sales job when your a solo freelancer. I've seen some people hire a sales person that gets the clients and the designer just does the work with no distraction. Which is nice.
Number 4 really hurt! 😅😂 I'm working on it. Thanks for your videos, they have all so far been very encouraging and easy to relate to. You make becoming a freelancer really seem very possible.
I have to say Daya, your content is so good. And you've been helping me along this new freelancing journey that I'm on. I find it that if I just do all of the stuff you've outlined I should be able to at least land one successful client.
You provide a huge amount of valuable information here. Actionable and grounded. We are so often held back by fear in freelancing (and, I can attest, as TH-camr)... thank you!
Hey freelancer! If you're reading this, I hope you gain clarity + take action towards your goals 🤍 progressive overload is the key ✨️ stay focused and have a productive day ✨️ PS. Don't forget to rest. Plssss🥦
Love the practical exercises, so many people need these skills. This to the point value packed style is something I'd love to see more success youtubers adopt!
so far my fear of getting started (after I do my research and make a plan) is social media content creation. Reels and video have become so popular the last few years and the camera quality keeps getting better. I'm camera shy overall. Even for TH-cam, everyone has a certain room layout and camera angles/lighting that's become the standard. I know I can do it but these make it a bigger obstacle than it needs to be, which makes me anxious and procrastinate.
11:40 so sweet 💛 they're so lovely ! I also have one cat in my home he's the stress reliever & soul of our family, always brings a joy on our face by just being around their innocence.
This was so helpful Deya! Thank you :) I'm loving the content you're put out. Came here from your newsletter (good touchpoint ;)) Can't wait for you to blow up 💃
12:12 This part was so wholesome 😂❤.. hey deya, thank you so much for your insightful videos!! I really love watching them, they always add a lot to my learning journey.. cheers!
Hi Deya! Thanks for the great advice and for breaking it down into such a helpful structure. You clearly know what you're talking about. It's also great that you dont line up another video, but tell us: go out and start working. An advice we should follow much more often.😅 I found it interesting that you included "applying for openings" under "passive bucket". That's eye opening. Like many others, I'm really bad at putting myself out in front of people and just make a connection. The good ol' fear of rejection...😢 I got to know so many interesting people because people reached out to me. So, I, technically, know its a counterproductive idea. Its time that I finally tackle that fear!💪
so glad you found it helpful! btw if you're struggling with the rejection side (you're not alone!) -- this video may also help: th-cam.com/video/rSHREFWb41M/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=Deya :)
@@MyNameIsDeya Awesome! Setting rejection goals is just what I need. It's liberating. 😃 I often (not always) beat writers' block by telling myself that my first draft will be crappie anyway, so I might just as well get it all out without looking at the form. Same concept, I guess.
I am a freelance full stack web developer and I've sent out a lot of cold DMs and most people are so kind and they respond but most of them say they don't need my services, I am contemplating freelancing in another field because it feels like web development might be one of the ones with low demand and a lot of supply. I don't know what to do
I think there is still a need for web devs. Maybe you could try a different method of outreach? Also how long have you been cold pitching via DMs and have you been doing it consistently?
@@tiffanygordon-co I had a talk with someone and they told me to switch my target clients and I agree😅 I was definitely targeting the wrong people... Thanks Tiffany
Hello Deya! I saw your video and really enjoyed it. I was wondering if I could help you edit your videos and also make highly engaging shorts out of them?
Of course! Here are 2 videos where I talk about how I started freelancing & how I landed my first job: 1. th-cam.com/video/-KhfvOi9F_k/w-d-xo.html 2. th-cam.com/video/wgaqwBntCm8/w-d-xo.html
OMG! You are so gorgeous. I was searching for scams in freelancing and then came across ur video on payment methods for freelancing. But I found that I was enjoying your video not because of the importance of the topic but because of your wonderful and cute English with your exceptional beauty that keeps me smiling when I watch your videos. 😊😊😊
