My son loved this song, although it is a tribute to death, which is never faithful.
My beloved Alec, my only child, my dearset son, died six weeks before he became 18. It is now 7 months ago and yet so sad, the loss...the emptiness.
We played this song at his funeral as a tribute to the difficult live he lived and the price he payed dying so young...but death is indiscriminate...so says the song...Amen!

"Si muore danzando, bevendo, mangiando, Con quella carogna morire bisogna." Si muore pure guardando la tv, come è successo al mio compagno. Lui amava cantare questa canzone, modellandosi sul grande Marco Beasley, come se volesse affrontare la sua sorte (era ammalato del cuore). Per il funerale ho chiesto al suo prof di canto di cantarla per lui. Sono sicura che gli avrebbe fatto un grande piacere di sentirla un'ultima volta e sarà per sempre la sua canzone. L'ascolto in sua memoria.

j'ai découvert cette musique il y a je crois 15 ans de cela, peut-être un peu plus. J'avais acheté le disque sur un coup de coeur en voyant la pochette. Je l'écoute toujours avec autant de joie frémissante à l'intérieur. Quelle merveille. Cela me fait approcher quelque chose de profond et secret, je ne saurais dire autrement, avec un accent de joie, de force de défi et en même temps l'abandon

Non solo per il testo inevitabilmente tragico e allo stesso tempo naturale, non solo per la melodia incalzante (o è la morte ad esserlo), ma anche per la stupenda interpretazione, per il timbro della voce, per la teatralità... e sicuramente anche per il ricordo di mamma.
