How to make Soap, The melt and pour easy method

  • I am sharing how I made some easy melt and pour handmade soaps in today's video. I used two recipes, the first is a honey, oatmeal and almond oil recipe and the second was a lavender and lemongrass recipe. I used a melt and pour goats milk base that I got from Amazon which I will link below. This would make the perfect Christmas DIY or wedding DIY too.

    I'd no idea it was so easy to make soap! I can't wait to try this. I've already ordered the soap base off Amazon but unfortunately the honeycomb mould won't arrive until after Christmas 🎄 I was thinking maybe while you're stirring you could sit the glass jug in a pan of hot water to stop it hardening???? A piece of round fabric cloth would look great over the jar lid. Thanks for sharing this amazing idea!

    I make the other kind of soap you were talking about and actually there’s low three ways to make soap 😅 Melt and pour (which still contains lye but it has completely cured) Cold process (making soap at room temperature after all the oils are melted and fluid like) and Hot process (melting oils in crockpot and cooking with the lye for an amount of time. Melt and put you can use right away I recommend 24-48 hours though so it’s all hardened. And cold process you have to wait 4-6 weeks to use. Hot process can be used 24-48 hours as well but you can’t get those pretty swirls it’s like working with a paste lol I haven’t tried HP yet :-) just thought I would share ❤️ lovely soaps!

    • @sheba12106
      @sheba12106 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Shelby S, I have to disagree with you (friendly disagreement of course :-)). I make hot process soap. I make swirls, as well as cupcake soaps using hot process. I also make very cute soap slices that look like decorated cake slices with piped soap frosting, topped with a soap cherry, just like you can make with cold process. It can be done when you are an experienced hot process soaper :-)

    • @shelbys2015
      @shelbys2015 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      sheba12106 that’s awesome! :-) I’ve never done hot process yet- would love to sometime! But I’ve just been told that stuff 😅 I’m sure it’s more difficult to work with but I’m glad you told me that!

    Wonderful gifts! I'm sure they smell lovely! I have always made LYE soap. Wanted to let you know not to be afraid of ALL chemicals. The LYE I use is from wood ash, totally natural----But is kinda harsh on the skin so would probably not be what you want for this DIY. But chemicals are everywhere---- oxygen is the chemicals H2O mixed.....don't stay away from those. :)

    Well done Kathrine another winner. Two years ago I made the lime method soap, bit needed to mature good few months and definetly needs to be done outdoors or in well ventilated place. I used rosemary, geranium and lavender combo, and it was wonderful, especially as it is unusual combination. I added dry rose buds and dry lavender to decorate the tops as I used round molds. 😊

    if you do M&P soap making, you can pop bubbles with a toothpick as best as you can, though i wouldn't put it in the fridge it will harden on it's own fairly quickly(2-4 hours) and putting it in the fridge with glycerin soap will cause it to sweat when you do take it out. also wrapping it in plastic wrap will help keep it fresh and you can make it look professional with a hair dryer too! these are things i've recently learned researching soap making with melt and pour as well as cold process soap(currently getting all supplies needed to create my own cold process soaps and i'm so ready!) but starting with melt and pour is the way to go (:

    I like melt and pour better because I had disabled brothers living with me at the time and they could get into the lye but now I have a baby niece living with me and small dogs too

    The last video I watch you were showing us your front lawn with all the clover flowers, I thought then Catherine could make a fortune with those. How could you use them to put in soap. A few years ago I bought a clovers scented soap, imported from France at $10.00 for a brick. It was my favorite soap for a long time, I wonder if they could be used the same as the oat.

    They look so fancy. I dont understand why you put some oil inside the mixture? Only melt&pour soup is not enough? Is there any reason for that? :)))

  • @salemthorup9536

    Melt & Pour, IME, isn't necessarily very easy. Even simple designs. It's an art form and one needs knowledge and skill to make it. I do cold & hot process and they seem often easier to me. So I'm glad that you think it's easy, but you might not be giving yourself credit for a degree of skill that is usually one that has to be taught well or developed.
