NOTE - Finally tried filming in 60 fps, but I think that made my shaky-cam problem even worse. Open to suggestions. Hand-held gimbal obviously did not help.

I don't mind the shakiness of the cam, because I think it's always super clear what you're filming. It might be worth getting a dice tray so the dice don't roll off camera? Anyway, awesome battle report! love the high fatality carnage of the 2.50 lists.

Personally not a fan of 60 feeps on batrep shoots exactly cuz of this issue. I'd just keep it at 24, shaky cam won't be as big a deal then and I honestly think it just looks better for miniatures at ye olde cinematic fps.
Alternatively compose the video around tripod shots, tho that does limit what you can do especially for a batrep.

I’m only up to the intro so far, but wanted to say right off the bat that I really like the sculpted cardboard terrain. Great recycling there. We’ve got a couple of pieces of packaging terrain in club and they were lots of fun to make. Also, the Printed Custodies tank looks like a fantastic print. Love the blue glow on the custodies and green glow on the Necrons. Lastly, looking forward to the report. This will be the second one I’ve watched and I still haven’t tried the rules. Must play more games! Cheers.

Been trying to find some good battle reports to watch for One Page Rules or 40K and these are the best I have found, the perfect balance between just enough information and editing without editing too much out or leaving too much in. Thanks for posting!

I'm pretty sure you got the new "robot rule" correct. It's exactly the same as the "undead" rule for Age of Fantasy. Love the report!

The blast change takes some getting used to. but it's a good change. under the old rules. There was never a reason to take a Deadly Weapon over a blast weapon if they had similar AP. Blast against tough models like tanks was really powerful. but now its pretty much worthless against those units, giving a reason to take both deadly and blast in your lists.
So awesome to have the Battle Reports back! Amazing as always Wyloch! Would you ever do some Age of Fantasy on the channel?

Great to see a OPR Battle Report from you both. Enjoyed it a lot.
Note: I think you got the 'Blast' rule wrong. It's 3 hits (or max models in the unit) per hit. So two hits with blast on a unit containing 2 models would have been 2x2 hits = 4 hits.
I think Gaetano redesigned blast from "good vs everything" to "good vs multiple model units, but bad vs tanks etc."
Also, blast ignores cover. I like it better than the old one.

Yeaah I really like that matches end up close most of the times. It would be really cool to try out some narrative missions too, dunno, maybe take stuff from old 40k books and try it out on GDF.

remaining Tough as in "wounds" was my first thought the / IS an "OR" I think.
Think of blast weapons as templates, can only cover each model once, and blast rating is effectively the 'size' of the template. Max 1 hit per model makes so much sense 😊
Agree, I am glad they made that change. All of these old battle reports served as good test subjects. I think the change to Blast was by far the biggest revision and game-changer.

Yep there has been something wrong with my channel for several years. It is the reason my subscriber growth has been so low. Most people aren't getting notified. I don't know how to get it corrected.

I know this vid is a year old but I honestly love all your battle reports and would love to see more. Not sure if you have interest in Age of Fantasy side of OPR but could be a great excuses to do battle in the streets of Baldur's gate.
I'm fairly certain you are using the beta v2.50 (two point fifty) rules not the v2.5 (two point five).
With version numbers each number on the side of the point is considered separately.

Hey wylock have you considered trying out skirmish games like OPR, frostgrave/ghost archipelago or the like?
A lot of skirmish games require a lot of terrain and has a much more intimate relationship with it.

@@WylochsArmory I like it a lot. It adds a bit of spice a simple game like GF. Both in the anticipation waiting to see if you get the next move and the agony of deciding which unit should get priority knowing you might not get to go again right away.

You only remove models from the table once all attacks against you have been made, so you would use the warrior's defense for all the attacks, damage passes over to the hero as well.

@@WylochsArmory I think as a general rule, one has to assume that attacks of different types are always treated as resolving simultaneously. Just because two weapons have different stats doesn't mean they resolve at separate times.

No, the rules say if a majority of a unit is in or behind cover, then it gets cover. Majority means 50 percent.

Custodians are underpowered because they evenly mix medium ranged attacks with melee, but can only use one weapon type per round. Their weapon loadout just isn't practical in this game system.
grimdark future is better than 40k.
When you moved up 8 inches to contest the objective at the beginning of the second round, enemies within 3 inches are obliged to close the 3 inch gap for a melee encounter. So really, you had 11 inches to work with - which helps for slow units ambushing at least 9 inches away.
Nope, they close if you perform the Charge move and end in base contact. That was impossible since they were more than 8 inches away.

Well, not really totally free. Only the basic rules are free, the rest appears to require a Patreon subscription. Yeah, I could drop $5 and download the rest then cancel, but I'd have to repeat for upgrades. I will admit that it is much more reasonable than GW's greediness.

I actually like the way the blast rule reads. Makes the blast more devastating against groups. My problem would be with an A(y), Blast(x) when y>1. The number of hits should be number of models or number of attacks, whichever is greater. After all, you just dropped y shells, grenades, etc.
Basic rules are all you need. All I've ever needed. Truth be told I didn't realize until just now that there are other docs behind the Patreon. :-D
