This game was awesome, well done. The alternating activations make it seem way more intense than 40K.
Grimdark Future is like if you took Warhammer but trimmed off all the unnecessary fat and you're left with a more streamlined, more fun game.
I love your grimdark future content, please keep making more. Always look forward to seeing it.

I thank you for introducing me to one page rules. Trying to keep up with changes to war40k rules and having books out of date a month after buying it became too cumbersome and expensive.
I'm really loving the OPR sets. Purchased the GF & AoF & the skirmish one. I play AoS & trying to learn the 40K curve. But as my youngest son is very interested in the models and also wants to play i was looking for an alternitive that was easy for him to learn. OPR is perfect, as we can get trough these rules quickly and we have a ton of fun together. Loving these battle reports aswell. Thank you for pointing me in this direction :)

Thank you for these battle reports! I had no idea what GDF was until tonight and I'm pumped. I love the 40k models and building them, but I have a really hard time with the rules (and the cost of a codex) so this is great, and FREE! Another cool free game worth checking out is called Star Breach. It's a small skirmish game and is very well written. I recommend it and would love to see some BR's!

Just starting to watch this. Unrelated thought - it'd be great to see a mild neighbourly disagreement between the shooty TAO and the scratchy hivers.
It was probably you streching the units too thin, so that they couldn't really support one another, an important lesson against the hive.

I've been really enjoying Grimdark Future.
The actual games have been so much more fun than 40k games, and I think it's due to the fat trimming sort of free form games we can play without the bloat and cheese.
I really like narrative play, and I feel the current rendition of 40k doesn't do the narrative justice (and hasn't since probably 5th edition)
GDF does. Terminators in GDF are a Brickhouse unit that you can't spam to death with flamers (very easily)
Psychic powers are nice and subdued as well, which leads to a more interesting game of troops on troops in my opinion.

This videos are super inspirational! I am working on getting some stuff together for Grimdark Future and Age of Fantasy and funny enough jungle and city ruins are my two terrain sets. So your channel has been awesome for me!
One question, where did you get the little stat card images? I am gonna be teaching new people to play and having some stat cards would be really handy.

How do you know how much hp the models have? I'm new to war gaming and i don't quite understand how a unit or models hp is determind? :S
Most models can only take 1 hp, but larger ones tend to be able to take more damage. All of it is specified in the army list PDFs that you can download.

Yeah im surprised he didnt have any tanks in his army, it seems tryanids (i mean alien hive) are absolutly brutal in melee, better to bring lots of heavy weapons to a bug hunt

How does spawn brood work? do you get to spawn more grunts as long as you have minis for them?
Yeah, once per turn, when you activate the Spawning Beast, you can place _either_ a unit of 5 Grunts, _or_ 3 Hive Swarms, within 6" of the Beast. So it's worth having more of these models than you intend to include in the actual list.

v2.7 of the rules. But the army lists MIGHT be outdated. We played this game one week before that patch came out.

I have some friends getting into Warhammer, but I found this and would much rather play it. Every time I look at Warhammer all I see is unnecessary complexity. This is so streamlined, easy to pick up, inexpensive - but it seems like my friends see it as a cheap knockoff or a low alternative. Makes me quite sad.

One thing you could use for shrouding mist is some cotton balls pulled apart.

I was thinking of dragging out battle of macragge to start with my son since they are nice small narrative missions but maybe I should adapt them to these rule sets. Most of them are not a ton of models so could use firefight rules.
That's what you get for tormenting wildlife.
