Characters are also divided up by Paths based on the roles they serve in the game. Destruction: Deals great damage and posses survivability (good generalists). The Hunt: Single target damage. Fu Xuan's gimmick is professionally being an incarnation of Laplace's Demon. Her in-game introduction, somewhat contrived though its scenario was, is honest enough and will explain more clearly. It also came out well before her playable release, so there wasn't much need for the trailer to be too obvious. ...That said, the trailer was more direct than actually playing combat with her will be, because a great deal of any such fight will be redacted as things that never really happened but you had to experience to ensure that. Veritas Ratio's interpersonal relations... are interesting. His primary contact seems to be with his students: he teaches over forty postgraduate courses which, should you actually not drop out, will in an indeterminate length of time place you among the leading scholars in your field of choice. He has time to teach this many courses due to the dropout rates. He is somewhat more capable of being social in a setting which does not require him to grade you; this unfortunately excludes a surprising amount of daily life including most of his business with the Intelligentsia Guild (who are effectively subordinate to the Interastral Peace Consortium). I'd really like to see him directly interact with Herta (while he's visited Herta Station, we've never seen them in the same room) simply because both characters are capable of a level of brutal honesty that they insistently apply to themselves as well. Robin: She is a central yet off-camera figure for the plot of much of the current main storyline. I can say she's not usually a model (starring in that makeup commercial you saw in Acheron's trailer an exception), her singing career was not launched with fame or fortune as a priority, and it's probably better for now if you're still guessing.
Sadly if start playing HSR now you just missed out on Dr. Ratio because he was free for all players from 1.6 to 2.1 and now it's in 2.2 so ya that's a bit sad but nonetheless it's still an amazing game especially the latest Arc is a masterpiece and you should definitely play the game. That is if you like TBGs like JRPGs if not maybe you wouldn't but I think it's worth a try at least.

See, at first glance the name "Dr. Ratio" is absolutely hilarious, but when you look at his full name, it makes sense. His full name is Veritas Ratio, which are both latin words. "Veritas" translates to truth, while "Ratio" means reasoning. So his name is actually Dr. "True reasoning".
Regarding HSR pity system, it is the same as Genshin's pity which the character's banner to hit guaranteed is at 90 pity and the weapon banner will be at 80 pity. However, huge difference will be the weapon banner where they separate the 2 limited weapon into 2 different weapon banners. Also, the weapon pity is the same as the character if you lose the 50/50 first, then youre guaranteed with the limited 5 star weapon on next pity. Really wished Genshin just stick to this pity instead of that Fates points.
The Weapon/Lightcone banner is actually 75/25..so the chance to get it first try is far greater. I pulled for 10 Lightcones so far and only lost 1 of those 10 first tries.
Before playing HSR, I recommend watching Ashikai's HSR beginner guide for the HSR lore, because the beginning of HSR is quite confusing without contexts. The Honkai verse is very fascinating and I kind of expect it to become something like the MCU lol
@@surfersunknown you don't necessarily have to, but it will take you a while to understand the concepts on your own, because the game doesn't tell you what's going on directly. Similar to anime or movies, it takes quite a while in the beginning for you to understand the concept and context of the world.

I love how Fu Xuan, when she's predicting the future, she predicts Qingque's arrival. That green fish icon represents Quingque, so she knew Quingque was going to turn up and an awkward moment, gives a little 'hrm' and shuffled her into the plan somewhere. Nice little visual story telling that the trailer doesn't even really need to explain verbally. You just need to know the characters and their symbolism. Jingliu isn't blind, her sanity is just hanging by a thread. She wears the blindfold because she's worried that any familiar sights of her old home might push her final buttons. The blindfold also seems to suppress a lot of her power, which she can't really control anymore, so when she takes it off it's like her limit break. She's one of the most outstanding damage dealers in the game. There's been a genuine power creep in Five star characters where some of the new five stars make the old five stars look like four stars (especially with Acheron, Sparkle and Aventurine, all of whom are kinda broken). But Jingliu and Fu Xuan have both kept up and remained elite throughout. Jingliu is the only character I have who can put out similar damage to Acheron; Acheron beats her in burst, but Jinglui's sustained damage is better and Fu Xuan remains the joint best tank in the game next to Aventurine. Sparkle is a buffer. It's debatable whether she's the best buffer or not, because most of the buffers buff different things. Robin might be the best buffer in the game now overall, but she buffs different things than Sparkle does. One thing Sparkle can do that no other buffer can is, because multiple quantum characters all boost each other's damage, you can build a team around making Sparkle into a damage deal and her crits do INSANE damage. She's the only buffer that can be turned into a boss killer. Acheron is my favourite character. I don't tend to really care about the male characters for the most part, but I did like Aventurine (eventually, once his story was properly explored).
12:30 Topaz's banner is actually up right now, but only for like another week or so also about the banners, instead of a 50/50, its a 56% chance instead, and also on the weapon banners, its separated instead of 2 limited weapons on 1, meaning its a high chance of getting what you want since its a 70% chance of it dropping as well
A fun fact for you if you end up trying and liking the game, based on your tastes you may like the DoT team (Or mommy team) the strongest version of which includes Kafka, Black Swan, Ruan Mei, and Huo Huo (not a mommy but a fav all the same).

If you ever feel like playing the game after all, you might be happy to know that it respects your time a lot more than Genshin does. The daily grind is basically nonexistent, events are available MUCH longer and story events just aren't time-limited at all, so you can very much still play the release events right now if you want to^^ Also it's kind of funny in retrospect, because just like Genshin these characters really do fit the region they're coming from. And all of the Xianzhou trailers are more poetic rather than straightforward because that's how the whole storytelling of that region was. If that was good or bad is... an entirely different topic, but it does make sense xD Also if you want Topaz... her rerun banner is literally up right now... so, perfect time to start xD Dr. Ratio is not getting memed on, he is a living breathing meme and that's fully intentional xD As for how people think of him. Frankly everyone is very respectful because he IS a highly respected... Professor, more than a doctor really xD Funnily enough the one he interacts with the most is actually Aventurine, and they annoy each other, so that's fair, and it's all in good spirit in the end xD Favorite character? But apart from that I am also just absolutely in love with my new team which does consist of Aventurine, Dr. Ratio, Topaz and Robin. It's the most fun to play and insanely powerful. Otto Apocalypse and Kiana have my undisputed goats of hoyo award already but I'll admit I was genuinely shocked by how much they made me like Aventurine lol. Like bro went from one of my least favourite characters in star rail to one of my favourite characters in hoyoverse in the span of a single story quest
About the characters elements/types In HSR there are seven elements just like genshin, but here they are called types and they are: Physical Thunder(electric) Fire Wind Ice Quantum Imaginary Also in hsr there are paths that the characters follow, each path determines the role of the characters, there are 7 paths: Abundance: Healers Hunt: Single targets damage dealers Erudition: Multi targets damage dealers Destruction: They're kinda in between Hunt and Erudition but their kits involves something related to HP (like loosing hp or being hit by enemies), the game describes them as high Surbability characters Preservation: the so called "tanks" they increase the team defensive capabilities Harmony: the supports, they increase your team damage and provide various buffs Nihility: they are the oposite of harmony, these characters apply penalities(debuffs) to enemies
Honestly i get what you mean by more expressive but the more poetic trailers do show their expressions it's just that they're more calm and less energetic than most characters. Fu Xuan is calm collective character who speaks too much English that some characters don't understand her, it's like she read the whole dictionary and combined it with Shakespeare poems Jing liu is cursed to not be able to show emotions easily she is either calm or aggressive Ruan Mei is like a Mad scientist but if they don't understand how emotions work

Robin is not a model she is a singer, she is the one singing in the trailer and she has multiple songs in the game Regarding to her Darkness, It is simply the photographers chasing her, the fame is choking her but she doesn't want to let down her fans so she pushes herself up on her feet and continues with courage
The girl in Acheron is like a multiverse version of a character called Raiden Mei in Honkai Gakuen and Honkai Impact 3rd. And you can see, Raiden Shogun the Electro Archon in Genshin Impact also resembles her. “Raiden” also means Thunder in Japanese.
Well, you're in luck bud, its her rerun this first phase banner, there's only 12 days left before the banner ends so make sure to have a plan if you want to get her For me sparkles is the greatest both gameplay and story wise, her giving skill points to a so hungry team is incredibly helpful and I like how she is so mischievous and chaotic. And for male, aventurine takes the top spot for being the best character in terms of gameplay and story, his unlimited shield and being a sub dps is really great especially in follow-up attack team comps and being the "all or nothing" guy
The 'Myriad Celestia' trailers are another good set of videos to check out. They are offer a bit of lore about the game. Also, the version trailers are solid. Especially the launch trailers and the 2.0 Trailer 'white night'.
aside from the character trailers there are also the version trailers and myriad trailers in case youre interested in more reactions before playing. the version ones work in the same way the genshin ones do, and the myriads are more like lore videos that explain some concepts or stories in the game related to different things like planets, characters or others. if you want something more spoiler free then just watch the myriad ones since the version trailers although are out of context they still might spoiler some stuff from the latest planets. btw, great reaction!
Gacha System is the same as Genshin when we talk about rates - The banners itself are almost the same but weapons(Light Cones) only have the signature weapon with rate up, just like the character banners. So if there's a rerun/two new characters in the same phase, we get 2 weapon banners instead of 1 banner with 2 weapons like Genshin - New players have the Beginner Warp(similar to Noelle banner when you start genshin), but this gives you a 5 star after 40 pulls. - Standard Banner also has a 5 star selector after 300 pulls
I feel like Honkai's gacha rates are wayy better though. I've won every 5050 since release on the character banner(this banner is most definitely not 50/50) and the rates on the weapon banner is 75/25 so

For starters, her name is Robin which is also a type of bird. But that is the low hanging fruit. The other ties are story related so... Also, I don't know if you watched RWBY, but Black Swan's voice is Blake's voice too.

26:23 funny you should say this, Black Swan and Kafka are each other's best teammates and the core of one of the best teams in the game (the most popular in CN for the abyss equivalent). Huo Huo is the best sustainer for that team as well. I love that characters you locked onto actually have synergy together 😂
That team is damage over time focused. Sparkle on the other hand is for crit DPS teams. Normally they would not work together because DoT can't crit. Now, Acheron is a very unique crit DPS whose kit centers around debuffs. The more the better. Damage over time is a multi-stackable debuff. If you put Sparkle with Acheron on the DoT team it fulfills her kit conditions, Sparkle buffs her turn rotation and crit dmg while boosting team damage and providing utility. Kafka and Black Swan apply DoT (which Kafka also re-procs), while Acheron does massive damage (strongest DPS in the game). There's no sustainer on this team but things tend to be dead before it matters. You've got good taste lmfao.
12:44 the gacha system is all the same as Genshin except there's separate weapon banners (they share pity too) and the chances are 75(in favor)/25(against). SO much better there. Also there's a free 5* standard character selector at 300 standard pulls. And also the beginner banner guarantees a standard 5* at 50 pulls, after which it goes away. Also there's free 5* standard weapons from the shop although they're only really worth it for some specific characters. Should also add that unlike Genshin, most of the standard characters are pretty good. With Bronya and Welt being S tier limited character level.

Doctor Ratio was FREE (I got him! :D) and if you build him he's a really good damage dealer! Aventurine is my BOY, and Acheron's a QUEEN and then some ♥ ♥ ♥ Huohuo is a darling ^^ - I simp so much for Ratio, Aventurine (but it's complicated, I also want to comfort and cuddle him like his mom or big sis), Luocha, Imbibitor Lunae.... And hey, Male Trailblazer (I play as him because I want that eye candy) is GREAT TOO. Sampo is HOT but he's infuriating so there's that XD

Dr. Ratio trailer: I like him Wanna know something interesting? He was up for free in the Mailbox up until......I think a few weeks ago? You could onnly claim it till the end of 2.1. There was a giant drama and copiun from both Genshin and ex-Genshin players that moved to SR. For winning the Mobile game of the year we got 20 rolls + 10 rolls from Ruan Mei + Dr. Ratio(Limited 5 Star, which is needed in Follow Up teams with IPC characters)
The thing about Robin's trailer is that she suffers from Imposter syndrome, in that people see her as the perfect idol of the Iris family, and not as Robin the person. But she perseveres through it and sees the world for the dawn of a new day and not for the sunset. The song she is singing is the dialogue of the trailer.
I was going to skip Sparkle, but her trailer was so good that it made me pull. Lol. Sparkle has the best trailer in the game, it's better than Kafka's.
Not so fun fact about robin: In her E6 picture, you can see a gunshot wound on her neck. Robin's purpose in becoming an idol is to spread the dogma of Harmony throughout the universe. One time, when she was tending to the wounded on the battlefield, she was shot in the neck. She survived but it damaged her vocal cords. At present, she can't sing anymore but she can still mimic the sounds using the power of Harmony, albeit a bit off from her usual singing voice
Spoiler about robin: I do believe she was killed in the story before she was even released as a character. I'm unsure if "spiritual death" means actual death, but it seems that most of the time she's in the story line, she's been replaced by Sparkle.

@@surfersunknown you don't necessarily have to, but it will take you a while to understand the concepts on your own, because the game doesn't tell you what's going on directly. Similar to anime or movies, it takes quite a while in the beginning for you to understand the concept and context of the world.

I love how Fu Xuan, when she's predicting the future, she predicts Qingque's arrival. That green fish icon represents Quingque, so she knew Quingque was going to turn up and an awkward moment, gives a little 'hrm' and shuffled her into the plan somewhere.
Nice little visual story telling that the trailer doesn't even really need to explain verbally. You just need to know the characters and their symbolism.
Jingliu isn't blind, her sanity is just hanging by a thread. She wears the blindfold because she's worried that any familiar sights of her old home might push her final buttons. The blindfold also seems to suppress a lot of her power, which she can't really control anymore, so when she takes it off it's like her limit break. She's one of the most outstanding damage dealers in the game. There's been a genuine power creep in Five star characters where some of the new five stars make the old five stars look like four stars (especially with Acheron, Sparkle and Aventurine, all of whom are kinda broken). But Jingliu and Fu Xuan have both kept up and remained elite throughout. Jingliu is the only character I have who can put out similar damage to Acheron; Acheron beats her in burst, but Jinglui's sustained damage is better and Fu Xuan remains the joint best tank in the game next to Aventurine.
Sparkle is a buffer. It's debatable whether she's the best buffer or not, because most of the buffers buff different things. Robin might be the best buffer in the game now overall, but she buffs different things than Sparkle does. One thing Sparkle can do that no other buffer can is, because multiple quantum characters all boost each other's damage, you can build a team around making Sparkle into a damage deal and her crits do INSANE damage. She's the only buffer that can be turned into a boss killer.
Acheron is my favourite character. I don't tend to really care about the male characters for the most part, but I did like Aventurine (eventually, once his story was properly explored).

also about the banners, instead of a 50/50, its a 56% chance instead, and also on the weapon banners, its separated instead of 2 limited weapons on 1, meaning its a high chance of getting what you want since its a 70% chance of it dropping as well

A fun fact for you if you end up trying and liking the game, based on your tastes you may like the DoT team (Or mommy team) the strongest version of which includes Kafka, Black Swan, Ruan Mei, and Huo Huo (not a mommy but a fav all the same).
I'm surprised you didn't pick up Jing Liu's VA, but AmaLee does have a great vocal range.
Ooh, I love AmaLee, didn't realise it was her! Admittedly as much as I like her, she's not in the list of voice actors I can name as soon as I hear them. I hope to change that.
If you ever feel like playing the game after all, you might be happy to know that it respects your time a lot more than Genshin does. The daily grind is basically nonexistent, events are available MUCH longer and story events just aren't time-limited at all, so you can very much still play the release events right now if you want to^^
Also it's kind of funny in retrospect, because just like Genshin these characters really do fit the region they're coming from. And all of the Xianzhou trailers are more poetic rather than straightforward because that's how the whole storytelling of that region was. If that was good or bad is... an entirely different topic, but it does make sense xD

Dr. Ratio is not getting memed on, he is a living breathing meme and that's fully intentional xD As for how people think of him. Frankly everyone is very respectful because he IS a highly respected... Professor, more than a doctor really xD Funnily enough the one he interacts with the most is actually Aventurine, and they annoy each other, so that's fair, and it's all in good spirit in the end xD
Favorite character? Easy. Aventurine is the absolute King of this game and he deserves it. He might very well be the best written character of any hoyo game, he's insane like that. Just a gambler? Pfff, far from it.
But apart from that I am also just absolutely in love with my new team which does consist of Aventurine, Dr. Ratio, Topaz and Robin. It's the most fun to play and insanely powerful. Thank you Robin for buffing everyone xD
Otto Apocalypse and Kiana have my undisputed goats of hoyo award already but I'll admit I was genuinely shocked by how much they made me like Aventurine lol. Like bro went from one of my least favourite characters in star rail to one of my favourite characters in hoyoverse in the span of a single story quest
About the characters elements/types
In HSR there are seven elements just like genshin, but here they are called types and they are:
Physical
Thunder(electric)
Fire
Wind
Ice
Quantum
Imaginary
Also in hsr there are paths that the characters follow, each path determines the role of the characters, there are 7 paths:
Abundance: Healers
Hunt: Single targets damage dealers
Erudition: Multi targets damage dealers
Destruction: They're kinda in between Hunt and Erudition but their kits involves something related to HP (like loosing hp or being hit by enemies), the game describes them as high Surbability characters
Preservation: the so called "tanks" they increase the team defensive capabilities
Harmony: the supports, they increase your team damage and provide various buffs
Nihility: they are the oposite of harmony, these characters apply penalities(debuffs) to enemies
if you want to pull for topaz, her rerun banner is out as we speak
Honestly i get what you mean by more expressive but the more poetic trailers do show their expressions it's just that they're more calm and less energetic than most characters.
Fu Xuan is calm collective character who speaks too much English that some characters don't understand her, it's like she read the whole dictionary and combined it with Shakespeare poems
Jing liu is cursed to not be able to show emotions easily she is either calm or aggressive
Ruan Mei is like a Mad scientist but if they don't understand how emotions work
Quickly go through those characters in a short sentence with no spoiler.
Fu Xuan: A master diviner from the Divination Comission in Luofu(Second location to visit in game), who can read into the future with no errors.
The girl who appear in the trailer with her is QingQue, who work as a librarian in the Divination Commission, always slack off and be late because of playing Celestial Jade (Mahjong)
JingLiu: was one of the High-cloud Quintet, wanted because of killing many innocents due to mara. JingYuan’s master.
Topaz and Numby: Original name [you can find it in her story], leader of the Special Debt Picket Team in IFC, one of the Ten Heartstones, top 10 highest ranking in the company. Numby is the trotter.
Argenti: A knight from the Knights of Beauty who follows the path of Beauty, their Aeon is Idrila
HuoHuo: A foxian who is a judge that is in training in the Ten-Lord Commission, one of they job is to exorcise heliobus(ghost) and clearly she is scared, however her heliobus that sealed in her tail, Mr. Tail made her backed the cursed one who attracts inhuman beings (that’s sad)
Dr. Ratio: A scholar from Intelliganstia Guild, all he to is throw chalks and make pillar falls down, and intended to spread knowledge
Ruan Mei: One of the member of the Genius Society, an expert in biological sciences, the Aeon Nous realized her talents and her terrifying preservance, but she also loves eating deserts.
Black Swan: a memokeeper from the Garden of Recollection. She is just like Fu Xuan, but the way it works is by collection memories from others, and gain a whole picture of the story.
Sparkle: aka crazy brat. Follower of Elation, who can transform into other identity by wearing different mask. She do all that just because of “amusement”
Acheron: A galaxy ranger from Izumo, one of the 12 sentinels (strongest 12) but yet failed to save her world. Depart to a journey to complete dream of a fellow friend.
Aventurine: A senior manager of the Strategic Investment team of IFC, one of the member of the Ten Stonehearts, always dare to risk everything,
Robin: A singer that is known in the cosmo. One of the leading role of the Chamony Festival (play through 2.0 story to get to know), and why you see her in a cage, you have to play the game to understand everything.
Finally, just play it then you’ll know everything about these characters. Hope this helps you to understand these amazing characters

Regarding to her Darkness, It is simply the photographers chasing her, the fame is choking her but she doesn't want to let down her fans so she pushes herself up on her feet and continues with courage
The girl in Acheron is like a multiverse version of a character called Raiden Mei in Honkai Gakuen and Honkai Impact 3rd. And you can see, Raiden Shogun the Electro Archon in Genshin Impact also resembles her. “Raiden” also means Thunder in Japanese.

For me sparkles is the greatest both gameplay and story wise, her giving skill points to a so hungry team is incredibly helpful and I like how she is so mischievous and chaotic. And for male, aventurine takes the top spot for being the best character in terms of gameplay and story, his unlimited shield and being a sub dps is really great especially in follow-up attack team comps and being the "all or nothing" guy
The 'Myriad Celestia' trailers are another good set of videos to check out. They are offer a bit of lore about the game. Also, the version trailers are solid. Especially the launch trailers and the 2.0 Trailer 'white night'.

aside from the character trailers there are also the version trailers and myriad trailers in case youre interested in more reactions before playing. the version ones work in the same way the genshin ones do, and the myriads are more like lore videos that explain some concepts or stories in the game related to different things like planets, characters or others. if you want something more spoiler free then just watch the myriad ones since the version trailers although are out of context they still might spoiler some stuff from the latest planets. btw, great reaction!

Gacha System is the same as Genshin when we talk about rates
- The banners itself are almost the same but weapons(Light Cones) only have the signature weapon with rate up, just like the character banners. So if there's a rerun/two new characters in the same phase, we get 2 weapon banners instead of 1 banner with 2 weapons like Genshin
- New players have the Beginner Warp(similar to Noelle banner when you start genshin), but this gives you a 5 star after 40 pulls.
- Standard Banner also has a 5 star selector after 300 pulls
I feel like Honkai's gacha rates are wayy better though. I've won every 5050 since release on the character banner(this banner is most definitely not 50/50) and the rates on the weapon banner is 75/25 so

you might want to play the game to know the story of robin. The penacony story quest is just peak cinema! I won't spoil anything. Also, Chevy is the singing voice of Robin. She was the one singing in that trailer so there is no dialogue
26:23 funny you should say this, Black Swan and Kafka are each other's best teammates and the core of one of the best teams in the game (the most popular in CN for the abyss equivalent). Huo Huo is the best sustainer for that team as well. I love that characters you locked onto actually have synergy together 😂
That team is damage over time focused. Sparkle on the other hand is for crit DPS teams. Normally they would not work together because DoT can't crit. Now, Acheron is a very unique crit DPS whose kit centers around debuffs. The more the better. Damage over time is a multi-stackable debuff. If you put Sparkle with Acheron on the DoT team it fulfills her kit conditions, Sparkle buffs her turn rotation and crit dmg while boosting team damage and providing utility. Kafka and Black Swan apply DoT (which Kafka also re-procs), while Acheron does massive damage (strongest DPS in the game). There's no sustainer on this team but things tend to be dead before it matters. You've got good taste lmfao.

The thing about Robin's trailer is that she suffers from Imposter syndrome, in that people see her as the perfect idol of the Iris family, and not as Robin the person. But she perseveres through it and sees the world for the dawn of a new day and not for the sunset.

Not so fun fact about robin: In her E6 picture, you can see a gunshot wound on her neck. Robin's purpose in becoming an idol is to spread the dogma of Harmony throughout the universe. One time, when she was tending to the wounded on the battlefield, she was shot in the neck. She survived but it damaged her vocal cords. At present, she can't sing anymore but she can still mimic the sounds using the power of Harmony, albeit a bit off from her usual singing voice

I do believe she was killed in the story before she was even released as a character. I'm unsure if "spiritual death" means actual death, but it seems that most of the time she's in the story line, she's been replaced by Sparkle.
