    I love seeing and hearing that these instruments are still created by hands, ears, and eyes. Beautiful pianos

    I think a piano that responds to the touch back to you and you feel like one , is a wonderful instrument.

    Pianos are such wonderful and complicated masterpieces of design. And tiny details can alter its sound and playability, greatly...
    But I do not think, that hand crafting is the best choice at all manufacturing phase. E.g.: the pin board can benefit from machines, as those can calculate and create the holes with greater precision. This can help to create more crisp notes and avoid muddy sound.
    But some parts can be only done by hand, or the sound produced by the piano becomes lifeless. Such as voicing or the wiring of the bass strings...
    While other steps can be done both ways, as they need several repetitions. Doing those first by machine, then by hand can save time and effort of true experts. Such as polishing, tuning or the creation of the action. These steps can be done roughly by machine while a human expert can do the last couple of, refining stages.
    Either way, pianos are one of the best inventions on the world!

      Thank you very much for your comment, with which we absolutely agree! That is why we at Schimmel Pianos use machines wherever accuracy to the millimetre is required and check every detail through the attentive eyes of our master craftsmen who, with a great deal of care and experience, create the beautiful, balanced sound of a Schimmel piano 🙌🎹👑

    Does any one know what piece Ratko Delorko (The man with the white hair wearing glasses) is playing? I can’t for the life of me remember what it is.

    • @SchimmelPianosOfficial
      @SchimmelPianosOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Jacob Neal! Ratko Delorko is playing the Prelude op. 28, No. 15 by Frédéric Chopin ("Raindrop" Prelude). It is the middle part and therefore somewhat more difficult to recognize than the main melody at the beginning and end of this prelude 👍🎹

      Hello Andy! We are not quite sure what you are seeing. If you mean the black spot on the piano lid, these are the piano cabinet bumpers. They are found on every upright or grand piano to protect the lid when it is closed. Greetings from the Schimmel Pianos Factory 🎹👑

    Tension has very little to do with enhancing sound amplification. Form stiffness (curvature) does. It changes the natural frequency of the board at which it resonates. Tension is a myth. Tension is a by-product of curvature, but it is not so that tension is the main goal. The correct curvature , thickness, board dimensions and rib spacing determine the natural frequency of the sound board. Not the tension. Compare it to a singing saw: the higher the curvature, the stiffer the blade, the higher its natural frequency and consequently the tone. But much too many parrot the tension story, because they heard it somewhere and they did not think for themselves. But the story is wrong. Anyhow, one can build the perfect piano without knowing why it is perfect. It is called practical experience by and trial and error. Some think that the more tension the better, but once the compression exceeds the load bearing capacity of the wood, the sound board will be essentially destroyed from within in humid conditions. And when humidity falls, we will see cracks. And after some time, the piano sounds like it is made from cardboard.

    I love Schimmel, but damn: why must they all in black? Can you imagine a violin in black??? A black violin looks as ugly as a black piano. It's the same dark colour

    • @SchimmelPianosOfficial
      @SchimmelPianosOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your comment! The colour of the instrument is indeed very much a matter of taste. While many still prefer the classic high-gloss black piano, we also have many models with special woods or white pianos. Have a look at the Schimmel Classic series, you will find many beautiful variations there.

    Where is someone to rattle this thing.
    I am a Steinway man and I like a demo where someone can show what the bass end can do. The grand sounds ordinary to me.
    Get someone who can really test drive this thing.

      A great idea! Thank you. We will be working on recording a demo of our various series in the near future and posting it here.
      On TH-cam, you can already find some excellent tests of our instruments, for example by Merriam Music, who have tested individual models from all of our series and even compared them to one another.
