What an amazing chap Christian is. Not only does he speak flawless English with a vocabulary most Brits would envy, but he also plays the piano like a boss too. An inspiration.

There really isn't anything else like a Blüthner Piano, the tone, the depth, voicing and unity of the whole instrument is everything a pianist needs to be at their best. This factory tour, somewhat makes the whole process look easier than it is! This is the cumulation of centuries of craftsmanship and musical cultural heritage.

    Sehr geehrter Herr Dr. Bluthner,

Mr. Bluthner, pleasure to meet you. As a kid I was basically forced to play the piano, you can say I liked it as a kid only. I do love music in every aspect and can play a tiny bit as an adult. Now fast forward in years and I find myself in a hotel in Vienna, Austria. I saw for the first time a Bluthner piano and it was a grand piano. It was a nice brown piano (my favorite) versus a black one. I started to play a little bit and was blown away at the lovely sounds emanating from that piano. I was so enamored that I almost stop just to walk around the piano because I could not believe what I was hearing. Ever since then I have educated myself a bit more about your pianos and its always a pleasure to hear the wonderful sounds your pianos make. If your piano had this effect on this old man, I am sure pianists around the world are just as enthralled as me. And you are right, that piano will be around for another century. Thank you, sir, for continuing the family business, keep up the great work.

Thanks for the factory tour. Blüthner is a very fine piano brand. Sad that you rarely see them new at piano sellers.

Maakt wel duidelijk waarom piano's en vleugels zo duur zijn. Maar ze zijn iedere cent waard!

What a lovely tour and introduction to your Art. Such an excellent factory- a huge credit to the family, just as the pianos are a credit to everyone that make, maintain and play them. Just superb work, thank you.

What a charming and natural presentation of the great BLUTHNER factory, by the legendary Julius Bluthner's great-great-grandson! I am the proud owner of a beautiful 1934 Model 11 in a unique 'figured walnut' veneer, which is in a like-new condition, in spite of its age. It's my second Bluthner, after having had a 1966 Model 10 Aliquot in walnut. I very much hope to visit the factory in person one day. Best wishes to all at Bluthner!

What an amazing documentary! Thank you so much Christian. What e beautiful way to see how a piano is made. So many hours of work. How many people are working ninths factory. I wil Looking forward to see this work with my own eyes so closely. A piano is like a baby: should take of them very carefully. Pianometropool is the perfect place to sell and show them!

From 15.32 you can hear how beautifull the tone is. Truly a golden tone perhaps also because of the open frame concept which allows the soundboard to produce the maximum of her beautyfull sound. Everything from Bach to Brahms will sound great on a Blüthner. And also the Beatles used a Blüthner if I am not mistaken. An absolutely top quality instrument. In Middelburg (the south of the Netherlands) I played on an unrestored Blüthner of the 1910's which was still so stunning in toneQuality that I was convinced that many composers choose Blüther as their instrument. Not without a reason. Leipzig schould be proud . Herr Dr. Blüthner Sie können Stolz sein. Freundliche Grüssen aus Dordrecht

These are fine piano, a bit disturbed by the "special veneer" at 15:05, as it was standard option on Gaveau piano (I have it with wax finish on my 1927 modéle 2). Anyway Blüthner are my forward move if I have to change.

Amazing video. I have enjoyed lots watching it. It is nice to see the family still keep their heritage and the brand has not being sell to another big piano brand. Hope one day to visit the factory, would be amazing. I am maybe going to buy a 1971 Bluthner model 10. Thanks for the video.

Quality sound resonance chamber. Tuned to work with the speed of sound to compliment the musical notes and not confuse them. Full range attention to detail but exceedingly well in rich deeper tones.
Durability and of course beauty in the selection of woods and all materials .

(1:55) That difficult moment when the boss/owner walks in with a camera and you're chilling out. Didn't see anyone relaxing in the Steinway tour! ;-)

They were on lunch break anyway so it's alright. In German work culture, Mahlzeit (or lunch break) is an important time which should not be disturbed by work.

Well... let's see if I can make it there in the next 4 years. Tour of German piano makers, C. Bechstein, Bluthner, Steingraeber un Sohne and Grotrian (maybe also Seiler). For now, let's keep saving and building skills on my Bechstein A6.

I remember reading somewhere that Blüthner was also producing some other brands (they're all owned by Blüthner), which each have their own quality. One brand in particular I remember was Irmler, which is a brand that greatly suffered during the 2nd World War. It was bound to disappear until Blüthner brought it back to life.
I'm reading on their website that there are Blüthner, Haessler, Rönisch and Irmler, and they're almost all manufactured at Leipzig's factory in Germany.

Hello there My name is Mr C. T. Boxill-Harris why couldn't you Try Remaking A Daddy Grand Piano by putting on 88 Tuning Forks like what you did on an Upright Piano,
Please do the Same Thing on a Daddy Grand Piano For Most of us TH-camrs, It will be a much Better Idea For us so we can Try and See
and Hear Pianos with 88 Tuning Forks inside Thank You.

I think you posted this on the wrong video. The man who put 88 tuning forks inside his upright piano was Mattias.

nice... I got my piano lessons on a Blüther grand. However, the piano business are about to go bust.. all of them... they started using all kinds of crap plastic and carbonfiber into their mechanisms and actions... even more... digital pianos are samping sound from G.P.s - and the further this goes... the shorter is the life left for those former grand instruments... I feel sorry for that.
