"Annihilation is all we are" very nihilistic in the context of the show, but also reminiscent of metaphysical ideas found in Sufismn Spinoza's ethics, etc... There's actually quite a lot of allusions to philosophy, metaphysics, and spirituality in the show, something which I definitely overlooked on my first viewings, but ai think Esmail absolutely knew what he was doing especially with drawing the connection between such out their ideas and what we today view as mental health.

The writing in this series was brilliant. Some of the lines were just beautiful. (Not this scene though really but you know what I mean)
