Accidentally found this, hooked like a crackhead....wow, being a grunge rock fan of the early 90's ( I'm 40 now) this music is like a rebirth of the real music I used to love! coolness!
These beautiful witches hypnotize me with their cooing voices. Gets me every time! Their music haunts me so well with this magic they make. Ohmy, I'm in a daze every time..
only discovered this band about an hour ago. So hypnotic. There aren't many bands I like these days, but these are really good. Don't get many girl bands that play instruments. They play them well and I like this track.
as deep as the best of Nirvana and Joy Division + a fey-minine dimension neither of these bands could ever have i am a huge fan and 62 years old practically no music post-1982 ever moves me [barring 90s Dance] .... this moves me as much as any 60 /70s tunes they are so deep so shamanic as if broadcast from a blitzed 2050 subterranean LA after the ray :]
when you listen to warpaint songs, you have to listen to the whole song. sounds weird to say, but you miss if you don't. their music just makes you stop what you are doing, and just makes you listen. i too feel their groove, like someone else said in these posts.
Everytime i get baked..when i come home i listen to this, it's like it ttakes me to switzerland's mountains and it's only me and the spectacular view of the green hills, rivers, and old houses....shit i m stoned again greetings from Greece
YEAH! LOVE those parallel fifths in the middle! A lot of sections of this song based on that good old Dorian mode. Brilliant! These guys are probably influenced by the epicness of Gregorian chant and the church modes, because there was a lot of the simplicity those things represented- in Gregorian chant, those parallel fifths would have been part of a great a cappella chant. And for "Set Your Arms Down"- MM. Such a simple setting of a simple message. Bravo!
“These guys” have quite varied influences, yes. For example, they covered David Bowie’s synthy “Ashes To Ashes,” they have a folk song about Billie Holiday, and when I wore an Unwound (artsy noise rock band) shirt to a gig of theirs in 2014, Emily freaked out, started singing one of their songs, and high fived me.
I have loved this group from the moment I heard them first, and keep lovin it more every time I hear them! I am really hard to please in the music department, so that's saying something! Keep it going ladies! We're rooting for you out here! : P
I saw them live a few years ago and they came on for an encore and played Elephants. It was Stella that played guitar on that track then, which I wasn't expecting.
I dunno, maybe it's because I'm 51, but I moved past that a loooong time ago. it was their sound that drew me in (discovered them a couple hours ago). I wouldn't care if it was a collection of drooling aliens that looked like rabid animals playing this tune, I'm feeling the groove.
I love this song! It's amazing at what I went through to find who sang the song off of CSI: NY last night...I think I spent an hour looking at episodes and songs to find this! And you have so many other great songs. I'm hooked :-)
It's like their music comes from a distant boarder, In which I find myself staring at the horizon. A wide, meaningless view. Cold wind over my lether jacket. And I'm thinking either I take the highroad or cross that desert boarder. Then I realize I am so freaking stoned.
There's this awesome addon for Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome (also for SeaMonkey and Thunderbird) called Adblock Plus. It works phenomenally! I haven't been subjected to advertisements in two years thanks to Adblock Plus. Also, advertisement is not harassment, it's funding for the entertainment you rely on.
"Pop Art" has absolutely nothing to with music. It was an art movement started in the 50's. As someone who grew up close enough to 'back then' (late 70's), music itself most certainly WAS considered an art form. The college I went to 'back then' had 'Theatre,' 'Music' & 'Art' housed in one building. The name of the building was & today still remains the "Fine Arts Building." On Wikipedia, one finds the following for Warpaint's entry: Genres Alternative rock, indie rock, art rock, dream pop
hi.what i am saying,is that if you read the rules of youtube, you cant prohibit the adds,if you dont have all the copy rights of the songs...i dont have them,i am an amateur..i clicked no to adds, but for youtube's adds,i cant do anything...
I´m afraid u missunderstood me. We all know what Pop-Art is. I said "Pop art APPLIED to music" & I meant it. It´s a tag Pete Townshend used 2define TheWho´s sound -and clothes & lifestyle- in 65. It applies to several R&B/Mod bands of the period which sounded & looked "alike" (most of which were -like Pete himself- Art School kids). And by "back then" I meant early 60´s, when Rock&Pop music was mostly seen as light "entertainment", not an art form. My point stll is: Art Rock is a redundant term

coolness!
I hear ya. I'll be 32 this year and even though I was just a kid in the 90s, I feel the same way you do.
warpaint is the best
Amen
I love Warpaint. So raw and natural, it sounds like they never sold out.
ditto
I don’t even understand how someone sings like this. So extraordinary.
These beautiful witches hypnotize me with their cooing voices. Gets me every time! Their music haunts me so well with this magic they make. Ohmy, I'm in a daze every time..

Everytime I see them live, I can't stop thinking about them or their music! I just bide my time till I can see them again!

"Haunting" is the best way I can describe Warpaint.
Fucking love it.

Wow, I have only been listening to them for a year but fell in love and never heard this one...

Heard the first note sung, immediately started adding more Warpaint to my playlist.
I Love the breakdown so much at 3:00 I can't stop coming back to this song because of it

I was listening to these while walking on Dartmoor today , it's a dark crisp English Autumnal day a truly haunting experience.

Took me seeing a few videos of them performing this song live before I realized that Stella is actually playing guitar and Theresa drums on this tune.

no comments about the BASS intro?? it sounds so gooood :-O
Set your soul down and dance with the vibe in the wind, close your eye and open your skin......take it in.
I love finding new (to me) music to explore. This fits nicely into my definition of music worth listening to.
I dunno, maybe it's because I'm 51, but I moved past that a loooong time ago. it was their sound that drew me in (discovered them a couple hours ago). I wouldn't care if it was a collection of drooling aliens that looked like rabid animals playing this tune, I'm feeling the groove.
