- I have three more days of solo sailing to get to Australia. It's the final push. I battle fatigue as I try to get through the Great Barrier Reef to make it in before the next system hits

Hey as a 70yr old Dad, Granddad, and now Great-Grandad, who has gone down to the sea in boats, I am in awe of you, young woman, Long may you rosperper,
Thanks!:)
I agree. I too am envious of her solo adventures. I daydream about what she actually is doing and why I became a patron, at least one of us gets to do it.
Hey Holly hope you're good how about creating an album of all the best tunes used across the videos, that would be nice to have , see you on the next one
Who is rosperper?
@@christyler5722 I think he meant to type prosper.
Holly, most people have no idea how challenging those windward sailing days are. Bouncing in your bunk when you try to sleep, the constant jolting, spray and mist file air. You are a mighty sailer. I don’t envy you because I’ve done a lot of long passages too. I’m glad I’m to old for that any more. But I admire your “guts.”
Bravo to Rolly Tasker for supporting Wind Hippie!!!
You’re a brave human. Thanks for taking us along
Welcome to Australia Holly!
Of all the sailing channels I follow your abilities and courage always amaze me!
I've followed you from the beginning when you became a sailor, I was impressed then and I am still impressed.,, but I'd rather face the taliban than do what your doing. Sailing in a little boat on a large ocean. Love it.
You are her parent that took her on board their ocean sailing journey when she was a small child? Because that's where she became a sailor, I guess, and that's where she learnt what and when to fear, but especially when not. As she demonstrates in these videos.
Im still reeling from your last vid , 50' from a ship . Fastnet 79 survivor here , you are awesome girl !
Everyone in the comments section claims they are a Fastnet 79 survivor.
@@TOMVUTHEPIMPyawn . Check lifeboat 70-001 log at lundy island on the 14th smart mouth , the vessel was yacht mauritimus.
Damn you must have some crazy stories!
Have you figured out why your (or presumably their) AIS alarm did not go off?
@@WindHippieSailingnot really , that was one storm I'll never forget though , we were lucky . Sailed a few big blows since but nothing like that . I seriously admire what you do , you are some sailor . Love from Wales UK .
I hope you are keeping an extensive journal so you can publish it someday. You are an amazing and very profound individual.
Fair winds and Vyas con Dios.
Australia is a very expensive country even for us Australians. glad to see you got here safe and sound .
Hiya Holly... I've been occasionally visiting your channel just over a year or so. I spent a week on a 45' Catamaran a few years back and when I was younger I crewed on Morgan 41 in the great lakes. Crossing Oceans on a 27ft boat would scare the shit out of me! You are such a brave person. I got nothin' but respect for ya! Mean it! ❤
What a wonderfully wise person! You get back what you put out to the world. I’m a 73 year old coastal sailor and am in awe of your approach to sailing. I hope Australia is kind to you for the time you are there ❤❤
And So the Pendulum Swings
Halcyon Days Are Here Again
Enjoy Each Moment ❤
Holly, you do such an incredible job of capturing and sharing what you are experiencing. If I could smell the salty air I’d swear I’d traveled along! Thank you!
You must have a true feeling of accomplishment after 10
days at sea alone with your boat. Be proud, you deserve it.
I feel for you watching this. It’s not easy sailing up there. So good to see ‘Land-ho’ after such a tough trip.❤
You're such a brave woman doing what you do on your own love watching your videos your smile and personality can make anyone smile when feeling down with your very pretty smile👏
Holly, you are a stud. Love to watch these
Another great video of single handed "sailing" there are too few channels like yours.. Stay safe.
What your doing is awesome ! Being independent , and not tied to the "American dream " is a good move...keep safe 🤠
Dear Holly its a pleasure to have you in our waters and I hope everyone you meet is kind and welcoming. On behalf of our country I apologise for the outrageous cost of everything from fuel to food..... I think you are very special, have a great stay with us.
Holly: wow, such memories you stimulated. Back in 1969 made the Coral Sea crossing from Cairns to Gizo; 39 foot ferro. Your video brought back memories of those unique wave patterns. It also was a rough segment. In '69 of course no GPS, no AIS, sextant only, vane steering was primitive and not effective. 4 of us onboard and cockpit hand steering 24x7. I was 16 then.
Get this, we arrived in Gizo evening of first moon landing.
Thanks for 2 great episodes and the memories you restored.
That's a fantastic voyage!
I was excited to see land, cant imagine how much you were looking forward to it 😂 remarkable
Congrats on the crossing, happy your safe.
It's dope you have the skills to run that boat all by yourself and the courage to conquer the oceans! Hands clapping hats off to you!!! Inspiring!!
Simply the best !
I feel your kindness in all the videos. Dude you have taught me much I will definitely apply when we set off on the journey on our Liberator.. Im sending you all loves and happiness ma..
You are fearless of those things that frighten me the most. Love it ! Those are the conditions that I could only take for a few days and on a small boat too You GO girl !
I'm not a sailor, however I put myself out into the wild in the year 2000. Gave up a job and a roof I rented to walk from Sydney to Darwin. Reason doesn't matter it was personal not commercial.
I had no home but what I carried on my back. Most extraordinary sensations I experienced on my trek were smells, and visions of the clouds. If I thought of food, all the smells would come to me like mosquito's in mangroves. I used to salivate those smells. Clouds, this was a weird one, I often walked at night during moonlit nights up the coast. I would gaze up at the sky whilst walking and my brain would associate the shapes of the clouds with something I recognized. One night blew my mind completely when a Bengal tiger appeared in the sky.
Being alone on these kind of trips is a little trippy, without the drugs.
From Maine to Australia, thats one hell of a journey. Many congratulations amd heres to many more years at sea ⛵
You are one brave and tough girl. I'm cheering you on in your hair raising adventures.
Congratulations for making it and arriving with such an amazing attitude. Rock on girl!
You’re far above these other sailing channels. Thank you for being out of your comfort zone while most other sailing channels are fair weather, low effort content.
You are an inspiration for this late in life sailor ❤
You're a brave, adventurous soul Holly...best to you in your travels....
You`ve become an iconic Wind Hippy. The very very model...etc
I love the sound of your boat sailing along through wind and waves. I realize it was`t too restful being bumped around, frequent stabs of anxiety, but its a blissful sound. I`m going to listen to bits of it again.
You're an amazing person. I hope you know that. Thank you for all that you share. It is much appreciated.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. It has been said, but it bares repeating.
YOUR FRICKIN AWSOME.
Congrats on your most recent safe passage
Always fun to watch! Keep 'em coming!
You are an awesome person! Thank you for your content.
I'm sad I didn't get to meet you here in NZ.
Your seamanship is first class. Your videos are first class and you are so in tune with your boat and the sea. Hope Aussie lives up to your expectations and you get together with that Dan fella again soon.
Hollie, Congrats for a long voyages solo to Aussieland. Really cool wildlife to see. I appreciates all your sailing adventures. Jim Rodgers
You are a brave girl, this solo voyage in a small boat like this would be so scary to a landlubber like me. Hats off to you…😄😄
Moon/wave night shots were gorg, Holly. Absolutely stunning! Perfect music choice as well!
XO Darcee
thanks for sharing the trip, always enjoy your honesty about life onboard. :)
Its people like you that inspire the rest of us! Keep going, I'm sure one day you will end up in a position where your influence contributes to saving this planet!
I'm happy for your safe passage. The rough weather and your sail change regime made me even more confident that, all things considered, my Junk sails are a good choice for me. Thanks for your informative video.
That's what makes it fun. It is never the same.
Welcome to Australia Holly. Really enjoying your channel.
Thanks Holly, really enjoyed watching.
Absolutely loved this video. Great job with passage. Glad that all went well.
Good stuff! I cannot imagine doing the things you are doing. You are amazing.
Holly - you are da bom!!!! More articulating later but THANK YOU for the inspiration and sailing knowledge and spirit! ❤
Great video Holly. Congrats from Downeast Maine on another difficult passage that you did!
P.s. I also have to balance my gripe about sleeping on AIS below by saying how this is one of the best sailing channels out there, honest, real and gritty, with real situations and solutions. So refreshing to watch. Please keep it up, have watched for years. I just hope you can stand my honesty when calling something out like sleeping to AIS.
A credit to you ….its a very challenging experience ….i hope everything goes well for you….
I just don't understand how you don't get sick lol
Thanks Holly. I really enjoy your REAL vids.
Always amazing to see your skill and confidence. Inspiring!
Wow I can’t believe you’re in Aussie now 😀. Welcome 🎉.
I hope it’s very enjoyable for you. Eager to see if you sail the Whitsundays.
Hi Captain! I'm glad you made it in safely. Get some rest the go out and grab some outback brownies. I always remember what Daddy told me years ago "it doesn't cost you anything to be nice to people."
13:35 I was just feeling so refreshed & happy that you hadn't used the adverb/adjective "SUPER"...you were saying "really" & "very" instead... and then you did it.😒 And then you did it again 14:44
I'm sup- realllly sorry 🤣
Congratulation Legend. Welcome to Australia.
G’day Holly, have a great time here luv.
Congratulations! Love your videos 🎉🎉
