Yay diy sail ties! I made so many sail ties in my sailmaking apprenticeship, we used to give them away with our sails and sometimes to random folks who dropped in for free! Youre reminding me to just find a cheap blue water boat and get on this damn sailing dream. Someday i hope I cross paths with you! Your videos have been bringing me back to life lately, reminding me I don't need much to be happy. Adventure is the best medicine for my soul ⛵
You are such amazing story teller. I think it's a real skill to be able just to talk to camera with such a natural flow like you do. Thanks for sharing.
It is a huge pleasure to see, hear and on TH-cam experience, how you and your solo sailing friends, live your lives in a fantastic way. And you are so fantastic at describing, what you experience out on the world's oceans, in a really good, captivating way. I wish you and your sailing friends, a really good 2024 with hopefully good winds on your way.
Dugongs and manatees are different but related. Both eat sea grass, both have good hearing and both are related to elephants. Dugongs have seven neck vertebrae whereas manatees have six. Manatees can be bigger growing to 13 feet and dugongs grow to 10 feet. Manatees live for around 40 years and dugongs live to around seventy years. Dugongs have a fluked tail like a whale. The manatee tail is not fluked. Manatees have good eyesight. Dugongs have poor eyesight. Three species of manatee: African, American or West Indian and Amazonian. Dugongs found around Australia and Pacific.
Its nice to meet up with friends and sail with a companion. I think your very brave crossing oceans on your own. Id find it too expensive to fly out to places joining a boat to crew. Thanks to you, Jibsea and Le Vagabond I can cruise the worlds oceans from the security of my sofa and see you on widescreen TV.
Greetings from the Great State of Maine. First snow yesterday in The County. Time to put the boat up. Holly, with this episode, your videography, music, editing, and especially your narration have deepened. Perhaps due to where your mind, body, and soul are at. I heart your stuff. Soft breezes.
Sweetie, I’m 61 and wish my dreams were still alive as yours are. You should write a book as you travel. If that sounds too daunting, take the advice given to Jimmy Buffett as he started to write his book, Pirate Looks At 50. Norman wok told him to just write one page a day just one page a day, and Jimmy did that, and found it to be much easier on him, and the book came together, much faster than he thought. Think about all the times you wished you could have caught something on Camera but didn’t, the book gives you the chance to go back and share your experiences and thoughts with the reader in great detail. I hope you do something like that, it would be a great gift to our sailing community.
GREAT ADVICE ❤ I was just thinking home much i enjoyed hearing her tell her story and pondering am I to old to pull something like this off? Thank you for your wonderful content and awesome inspiration ❤❤❤
It is so nice to see people buddy boating, sharing is caring. If you are looking for the best cruiser all-time wear watch to replace with - casio protrek prw3000 could be a very good option. barometer, radio clock sync, solar charge, compass and very reliable, just buy some spare straps as they need replacement regularly.
It looks like another great adventure for you Holly. Thanks for introducing Olivia, I love to watch these solo sailor or sailor-ess??? channels. It is so interesting to see the bravery and knowledge of a solo sailor I'm already waiting for your next video...have a great one and fair winds.
Holly , you’re such a cool gal . Daddy un mum are so so amazed they’ve created such amazing humans as yourself. Keep amazing us. We love you beautiful gal.
These Dugongs are seriously cute. I would love to free dive with them. Awesome sailing on fairly small boats. I crossed the pacific on a 30 footer…. it seems like you guys are not much longer.
Found your channel and loving it. Solo sailing is something that takes a lot of experience and bravery. It’s very impressive. Thanks for documenting your travels. There would be some war relics there I’m sure. As far as I know the Japanese were ensconced in some of those islands during WW2. Be an interesting add on to your log if you haven’t already.
Thanks for another great video. The Dugongs are much like Manatees. I have dove with them but not in the incredible setting that you had, above and below the water.
Aloha from Hawaiian islands 🏝 ⛵️ another great video filming, Always enjoyable seeing you sailing ⛵️ so many beautiful islands in the South Pacific.Fear winds and following seas 🌊
First i remember seeing you in oriental nc years ago. Second i remember watching olivia sailing wiith sam holmes years ago as well. Small fun world. Safe travels.
Another great posting dear. So just what is your relationship all about with Dan? Oh yes, those sea creatures reminded me of the Manatee’s in the southern waters of America.
Yes you and Ms Wyatt (spelling...?) were great to watch at depth... the freediving is the best... I believe I have seen the word Dugong nontheless I realize now I have never seen a Dugong... now I have thanks to folks on the The Geck and The Juniper... Yep, don't let the Consumerism get you sucked in... I'm a big fan of my Sailrite gear especially my Speedy Stitcher... Keep up the good work sailing with your friends and Fair Winds...
Awesome video Winhippie. Let's hope you have some more heavenish sails coming up. I saw a dugong with my kids in WA in 2002 near Exmouth. We were fishing off a beach sandspit. I thought it was the brown back of someone snorkelling! then realised it was a dugong. I didn't have my glasses on! Very cool and totally excellent, you got so close to so many. They are vegetarian compared to most sea mammals that are carnivores? Right? Take care, be safe, and we look forward to two weeks' time. :)
The laundry can be done behind the boat like the Old Seadog does it. Just tow the stuff behind your boat for some hours, then rinse in freshwater. Then dry. Of course u know all of this....
You are a young female Jacques Cousteau! LOL EDIT: million respect points for mentioning that young ladies channel, you are really sweet for that! I hope to get to meet you guys one day be safe! ❤️
I am a great supporter of fixing things up and making my own new things rather than just spending money to buy new, I think just about every tool I own is second hand and fixed up, rather than new.

Wow, you seem much more at ease and "yourself" in recent episodes (interestingly, with Dan in the picture).

Love it and your friend. Happy trails!!
I have only seen a solitary dugong near Marsa Alam, Egypt and that was amazing. To see as many as you did looks truly special.
We had a 8 ton 30ft cutter with tan bark sails!
Another great video, thanks. Pleased the Kiwis introduced you to Cleanskin wines, very rare to get a poor quality one.
Oooh, Dan... lucky guy. He's gonna get his groove on..

Nice one, secod time Wilderness has met up with you, I think. By the way that was a wicked thing to do to the young lad with the halyard. But funny.

Well done! Thanks. Respect for hanking-on instead of furling.
Lindo Video..!! 😃
I liked the guitar music in the beginning of this episode. Could you tell me more about that music?
That's how I check laundry to LOL 😅
If you put a twist in the part that forms the loop, it becomes easier to cinch-down.
