- Phantom Regiment drumline parking lot warmup of their "closer" on 10 August 2007 in Pasadena, CA, for DCI semi-finals performance. Audio recorded separately at 24 bits. Paul Rennick and world's finest drumline kick it, tasty and ferocious. You can download the original mpegs and audio .wav files from the URL at the end of the video.
This is easily the best book that Mr. Rennick has ever written.
This aged poorly lmao
@@TheLilmike248how? That’s absolutely true at the time it was written 14 years ago. I’d also argue that this still slaps
@@FlawlessFlams 100% agree
@@FlawlessFlamsit is debatable but I’d say I’ve come back to this video more than others.
favorite drumline vid to watch, been watching it for years
The fact that this was 13 years ago blows my mind. Me and my dad saw them live in Lafayette, Louisiana.
... Hey Trevor, would you know when Joe House (Abbeville) marched PR Snarline ? 2002? 04? Thanks :)
@@tjinc-bus4672 Joe House seems to be some sort of urban legend in Lafayette lol, my instructor marched with him in highschool, and my highschool drum tech marched Vanguard with him in ‘17 or ‘18
@@pfang11 ... hmmm, I'm guessing he would've aged out 2005-2007, so I dunno bout you're source for 'Marching' SCV 2017-18 ... maybe he was a tech for Rennick then
whoo dan!!! i cant believe you made this line at 16 years old!!!! SUPER BEAST!!!!
Excellent sound quality! The crispness of the snares, the awesome dynamic contrasts, simply excellence in perfection! Very, very smooth press rolls!
Still the best drum line video on you tube.
That might be my favorite snare tuning
This mightve been one of the best years for the drumline. gotta love the regiment:)
This is the best of the best right here!
The transition after 1:00 is superb writing and execution... nice!
phantom regiment is the best dci drumline ever they blow my mind
every time
I would cry if any high school drumline was this good
i have so much respect for this organization. so quality.
OMG reading?!?!?!? that's soo close to where I go, I go to sycamore...I'm so happy, I made snare as a freshman this year!! haha I'm not trying to brag at all or anything, I'm just so pumped because I'm obsessed with DCI and drumline and stuff so it's good, anyway I hope you guys at reading have a good season
honestly... this is my favorite year of phantom. they brought it that year...
happy to have had not one, not two, but three instructors from phantom reg.
i could seriously listen to this every day, such a great arrangement, there's never too much of a good thing. props ^_^ go quads again!
even though it's a couple years old now this book/ year still rocks! Rennick is a genius writer/ instructor. so tasty! nice.
Excellent drumline, and nice to see it featured. So nice having Championships so close to home instead of the east coast. Like I said, excellent drumline, but Blue Devils still took home crown for #12!!!
These guys are insanely good...
Didn't they win at least second place in percussion that year?
The Phantom Regiment are from my home town of Rockford IL. They're awesome live!
I wouldn't say one is better than another, they are both well respected groups who perform at very high levels.
Great job. Awesome and talented drummer for sure!.
WOW!! These guys are really good!! I was very much impressed. :) So good!! Great job!!!
I love the smell of DCI in the summer.
About time they were featured.
I think it's fair to say this line has the buzz rolls with the best quality of sound. Hands down
fucking clean beats too
Last year all the scores were in the high 90's, with RR being like half a point from perfection, AND the only drumline that year to move up in score from prelims to finals. I can go on.
i went to auditions! and we played the 07 drum feature too. pretty sick
them snares beautiful
My favorite thing of any drum corp drumline is the show they put on when they switch sticks.
their visuals look good when they have full uniforms on...they have an elegant/majestic look...
Snares sound so wet and superb.
those have to be the cleanest snares everrr
This is totally metal. Especially the tempo change in the beginning.
Thats why they are my favorite line
yep, i think i like these guys best. granted, i'm not a huge follower of this stuff, but i like watching it and attempting to play it. I think the thing that stands out most to me is just the way their music is written. It jumps out at me more than all the other top tier corps.
A drumline is finally featured!!!
its not about how many notes you can get in a measure or how much space there is between them...its how it sounds with the ensemble along with the whole corps..i am a huge bluecoats fan but i believe that paul rennick's writing is the most MUSICAL...beacause after all that is what they are going for..
the drums sound great
Anything that has to do with judging band things period is incredible. Most of it's subjective to a much larger extent than what is naturally subjective about judging. I've seen many judge sheets with the little specific things they have to grade, and very rarely do I see a category on a music sheet about difficulty.
Congrats on first at PASIC. I heard yalls show from behind the curtain. Pretty sick.
Great Dynamics ! Very Good Posture !
no, the HS is literally across the street from pasadena. the rose bowl is just within the city limits of pasadena
i love the beginning of this video
damn they are so clean
This still fucking slaps
I like how this is featured. Especially since it's from 2007 (:
My high school is in the background :)
I'm honored.
the snares sound so crisp! like a snare supposed to sound. Nice drums overall.
im not really a phantom regiment fan but i have always loved them so much for those bass drums. they have the best sound in the corp holy balls. i really liked the way BD bass drums sounded like before they switched to pearl too. blue knights have a badass bass line too.
YEAH PHANTOM! Featured video for a reason... -3
Awesome sound!
love the tuning
Always loved me some Regiment beats. Second best part of the lots is hearing the Regiment drums from the Regiment hornarc. Of course, nothing beats the Regiment hornline :P
FLAWLESS
I freakin love those drums :D
their drums were so f-in sexy that year
lil bit of tenor love
I'm a little proud of humanity for not posting too many idiotic non-drummer comments after this was featured. Phantom FTW.
they are pearl drums !!!
I wouldn't mind having this played while they wheel me to my grave...how majestic would that be?
Now THAT is a drumline :)
yeah awesome finish to them
Very very nice
A hint: "orcestral" means the music was arranged from something originally written for orchestra. Phantom IS an orchestral-adaptation drum corps -- probably the best-known, so it's obviously about a lot more than execution. It's also how well you adapt the music of Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, etc., and still respect the power of the original music. Another PS: I mentioned Cavies and the Vanguard as examples, and you imply that they "play like crap". No comment.
clean line
oh i thought age out was 21, shows how old i am but damn that audio is killer on this vid!
These guys should have taken 1st this year. Their drums were WAY cleaner than the Blue Devils.
Now that was bad ass
BADASS!
Rennick really knows how to write some meaty rolls.
Damn. That's some rythym.
Just because Phantom Regiment's book isn't a hack-fest doesn't mean it is easy. Paul Rennick is a genius.
Damn that was good.
mi piacerebbe poter vedere dal vivo questi spettacoli
Phantom was the cleanest in 2007
Yeah, I know what you mean. I can barely hear our shot bass on camera, but on the field in person, I can hear him like a cannon firing.
i can hear fine =) it cause i have my bass all the way up. its just some peoples computers cant get the bass sound.
great vid by the way, thanks for posting
good point.
Totally cool
Very goodwill
@TheSyncopator Blah. I liked it, it's also good for strengthening your chops to play stuff like this better.
5 years with phantom with 3 as center. Pretty much says enough ;)
Damn i miss them with Pearl.
Nice, vèry nice!
Oh yeah!
1:24, favorite bass run
Nice!!!
Overall, we get it over it, and clink glasses together afterwards, reminiscing on the good times. And believe me, so many in the "DCI" world question the drum placements in 2007l. Probably one of the biggest controversial calls in DCI percussion with those placements, but it's all okay. drum corps is drum corps.
that very right tenor it flippin tall!
Phantom sounds good with Dynasty but i kind of wish they were still with Pearl. This show had one of the best drum books ever written.
So, I know you made this comment earlier, but about the Marcus thing: Your following years will be drained (literally) and for everyone in the Cedar Park Band. That new high school being built in your area will shrink not only your band, but your drumline. Soon enough you guys won't be so infamous for your 8 snares, 4tenors, 10 billion cymbals, etc. It'll b more like 5-6 snares, 3 tenors... basically the size of Marcus as you stated them.
ya especially colleyville heritage and probably round rock...im from fossil ridge and you dont see me going around saying our drumline is the best because i know were not, even though we have done pretty well this year. 2nd at plano 5th at PAS and we got 2nd in standstill last night at lonestar. and yes i know about the bluecoats. they were my favorite line this year.
good job
What a sick drumline. It's cleaner than Jesus Christ after baptism.
i just bought one of these snares actually
amen
oops - I was listening in non-HQ - sounds much better in HQ! :) I'll check out the link.
Listen to melissa. She knows what she's talking about. At my school guard practices 4 more hours than the rest of the band. I'm sure that's the case in most bands.
