'Daybreak' was written by Han Hong. It is a true story of a horrible cable car accident where the parents of a small boy fell to their deaths after lifting him to safety. He watched them as the cable car broke and fell. Han Hong ended up adopting the boy and writing this song. Dimash was so moved by this song that he asked Han Hong if he could sing it & she agreed.

I cannot imagine anyone else doing what he did. When he sang this on 'The Singer' it was gorgeous and heartfelt and moving, but he was ill and had lost his voice before and after that performance. There is a video with the back story and his singer performance where he lost his voice the morning he was to compete. He had to go to the hospital hand have injections into his throat that were not working. The ENT doctor told him to not sing any high notes - which of course he did stating that the notes were not his high notes. He was in tears at the end of the performance - from emotion? from pain? ...You can find it on Gloria Wu's channel - even if you don't react to it, it is interesting to watch. I believe Gloria manipulates the speed of the performance to avoid copyright and many have reacted to her video without issue.
