Relocating To Mexico For $1,400 A Month | Relocated

  • Isaac Galvan, 23 was living paycheck-to-paycheck in Port Arthur, Texas but during the pandemic, he taught himself how to code and landed a remote job as a website developer making $12 per hour, about $22,000 per year.
His newfound flexibility allowed him to relocate to Querétaro, Mexico. In April 2021, he packed up his belongings and began his new life.
With only $3,000 saved up, he quickly found how far the U.S. dollar stretched abroad. Shortly after his move, he made down payment on a new car, signed a lease on an apartment and even saved a few hundred dollars a month.
“In leaving America, I felt like I was finally able to have the American dream,” he said, “I took part in this reverse migration so I could finally have a life of my own.”

I had the pleasure of living in Mexico City for the past 4 months and Isaac's point about the lack of pressure to earn a ton of money just to live independently is spot on. A smart strategic move. My only advice is to pay off the CC debt, as soon as possible as the interest keeps piling on.

Congratulations in becoming a real Mexican living in Mexico. I do cross the Tijuana border every day since 2018 the city is dirty but I am not. I do too love the fact that I am getting a head !

Great video. Glad to know Isaac's story. I just think he needs to find a digital nomad American job, so he can earn in dollars but expend in pesos. I know people in the Ensenada - Rosarito area living in Mexico but crossing the border to work in the U.S. that's saving, especially in food, there's not a fair comparison in prices and quality between food in Mexico against the U.S. (about restaurants especially).

You can still live in Mexico and work remote for a US base company and make 80 - 120K per year. And you can save 75% of your salary or more..

The US job market is super competitive, it would be much easier to land a job in Mexico, gain experience, then land a US job later down the road

Because it still does not pay him enough to live the independent lifestyle that he wants. Because that $10 to 15 meal he eats in a restaurant in Mexico will cost him 50 to 60 in San Antonio, because the $300 month apartment in Mexico will cost him over $1000 in San Antonio. Those quantitative and qualitative differences et up the higher salary and he finds greater fulfillment in Mexico, at least for the moment.

@@mediterraneanworld that is completely false entry level jobs are paying more than 17 usd and even my local restaurants are paying 21 usd a hour not to mention their is only a handful of Mexican places that pay a decent wage, the man in the video is getting payed in usd which is why he lives more comfortably than the average Mexican.

@@jafetsk8 that is completely false there is reasons the US has the most immigrants since 1970 including the world most foreign students not to mention he is getting payed in usd you realize 100 dollars in Mexico is actually around 1000 pesos 😂

I can relate brother! After 5 years of non stop grinding in the US, I burned out & ended in the emergency room. Alhumdulillah. After that, I left the US & feel so much peace with no money worries anymore! I finally have time to pray & connect with God, nature & people. You finally feel like you’re living. I feel bad for Americans who are literally living robots chasing money which never lasts.
