- More companies -- especially venture capital firms -- have been moving from downtown and other areas and establishing their footprint in the Presidio. Max Darrow reports. (7-31-23)
Federal property, Federal Laws apply, enforced by Federal Officers. What a difference!
what Federal law were applied to round up pot smokers, fentanyl addicts and dealers? you are spewing nonsense. this stupid country including all the red states is ttally lawless. The criminals would target the place very soon and break into the cars and cause srious damage and nothing would stop them. homeless can move in here and no laws will be enforced. so stop this hyperbole.
The Fed's do not tolerate the crap the morons running SF allows. The Fed's should have armed officials on every corner in the Tenderloin and every person should have to say why they are there.Drug sniffing dogs also.Buses to cart the people to jail.
It’s also no city taxes so they will not contribute to the City itself
No surprise, the Presidio is a fantastic place to live and work.
This story is very interesting to me as I was born in Letterman Army Hospital on the Presidio in February 1942. I was born in a hallway, because the hospital was filled with wounded from Wake Island, Bataan and other battles in the Pacific. We lived on base in one of those cream color buildings (I don't know if they're still there) but you use to see them as you came off the Golden Gate bridge. Later we moved off base into the Richmond District. Years later in the late 1990a, after the base was decomissioned, my husband was stationed there with FEMA, I will always have a soft spot in my heart and memory for the Presidio.I 'm glad it's still beautiful.
Those building are still there.
Enjoyed your story, I live several blocks from the entrance closest to Lombard, used to walk through there all the time, especially when Letterman Hospital was still there. I agree it's still beautiful, and I hope it stays that way.
I worked at letterman army medical center, the correct name by the way , from 1977-1994, lived there 1996-2002 u.s park service 1994- 2017 thanks!
Homeless watching: hmm, new place to pan handle and act like a zombie. Here I am come!
pretty good prediction
The thing is that it feels safer in the Presidio. There are no homeless encampments and I think things will change for downtown once encampments are taken care of and people can be housed somewhere.
They can be housed on treasure island. That's sf too
Alcatraz
@@VachelllI won’t be surprised if Treasure Island becomes Presidio 2.0 with developments in the future.
San Diego is taking action with new laws and it’s making a huge difference already. Hopefully SF can do similar soon
@@GuitarWithBrett too little too late. Sorry, but i'll believe it when i see it.✌️
I was very sad when it closed as an Army base in 1992. I served there and it will always be a military base to me with lots of memories.
the Presidio , i just love that place
3:57 Max mentions tons of people all around, but the footage didn’t seem to show that.
It’s federal land, not run by city of San Francisco
It is under the management of the Presidio Trust, a U.S. government corporation established by an act of Congress in 1996. The Presidio Trust now manages most of the park in partnership with the National Park Service. The trust has jurisdiction over the interior 80 percent of the Presidio, including nearly all of its historic structures. One of main objectives of the Presidio Trust's program was achieving financial self-sufficiency by fiscal year 2013, which was reached in 2006.
Proof that the Federal government works.
Amazing, this is what happens when the morons running SF could never do..
So it's federal land, not run by the city of San Francisco.
Looks like No squatters allowed is the key to success.
Absolutely ridiculous and disgusting, they are ruining the whole park area with building more areas for work!!!!!
Smart business move.
Nice story Sarah. Thank you the future looks bright. San Francisco is one of the most Beautiful city on earth.
How many decades ago are you referencing?
@@nathanlong4801 If you look at the Natural Beauty of San Francisco. The Bay, the Golden State Bridge. The weather, the History of the Bay Area. It can and will get better. But the people need to stand up. Roll there sleeve s up and get to work. Stop just complaining and do something to clean up the city. Form some neighborhood groups to clean the sidewalk and streets. Every neighborhood should have groups that meet every week to make change happen for the better. San Francisco belongs to the people with the help of some government workers and first responders. They can't do it alone. Get people together. You can do it my friend. Make San Francisco what you want it to be.
We need to look at what other cities in the world are doing. Along with other cities in America.
Blue cities will never change unless they vote red
There's a clear reason why people prefer to be in the Presido.... no homeless, no drugs, no crime.
No, it’s just bc of taxes
Don’t believe the hype….it’s only a matter of time b4 all the unhoused will show up at their front doors
follow the leader.
The homeless will now move there. Camp out on the sidewalks, drop terds all over mixed with hypodermic needles. Wont be long now.
there's alot of green space for tent city and druggies
I do see a lot of broken glass on the ground when I bike through the Presidio parking lots.
Easy parking, no homeless, fresh air and space for a small company why not
they are coming out of zombie downtown onto greener pastures at the Presidio
Oh no! ... Don't ruin the Presidio! Leave it ALONE!
Exactly, they want to move in all these people from silicon Valley. Or wherever and it's just a bunch of rich f****** jackasses and they want to ruin it for everybody else.
the zombies are coming soon
They kept mentioning the ample parking there, so does that mean the criminals aren't doing the Smash-N-Grab with the public's vehicles as they do down town?
So stacked and packed with bad street conditions doesn't compete well against office space with green space that isn't an open-air drug market for people from Alabama?
It's a 15 min city 🙄🙄🙄
That used to be a government facility. Do taxpayers benefit now?
They do not. It’s still federal lands
All good until tents start popping up.
and more migrant housing from central american and Venezuela
Those sunday food trucks help restart the area
I love the Greek Peta bread sandwichs.
Philippine Town, China Town, Japan Town. Maybe a German Town. And a Greek Town. Bring those types of Business to SF downtown.
Asians are the enemy.
I sincerely hope that the smash and grab crowd took note of the fact they mention like 10 times there's ample parking, ample parking, ample parking, with rich business people's cars parked in the ample parking areas
come one come and help yourselves the the goodies in the trunk and backseat
it's reparations time
trickle down economics it's finally happening!!!!!
yeah baby, they'll going to through the Presidio in no time., easy killing for the criminals
Less poop, more lead paint
maybe less illegals
RIP SF ☠☠☠
It's clean, barely any one drugged out, for people to go back t downtown rents need to drop,. Downtown will crash and the city will have to be more humble
"We took paradise and turned it into hell. It was very hard to destroy California, it's got huge amounts of timber minerals, oil, natural gas. So it was very hard to destroy that inheritance but we did. We have the highest gasoline process in the United States. We have almost half of the nation's homeless people. We have one-third of the nation welfare recipients. We have the highest income tax, it's sad." ~Victor Davis Hanson
Who's to say the chaos is not gonna move with you?
the virus is coming
nice leather pants.
dont worry Presidio, the smash and grab breaks ins will continue into the night
Rich making more gated community's is what will happen there
maybe migrants working the lawns there
gute Lederhose....leider nicht passgenau.....
Probably because there’s less crime there
It’s gonna be years til downtown SF cleans its act up even then maybe .. Speaking from a real SF native for 54 yrs good luck .. sad but true
take decades to recover, who knows , they need the Big One to start from zero all over again
Just getting away from zaggin looting and junkies acting violent.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤😂 0:02
Shameful reporting. Just avoiding the obvious tax loophole for big corporations
The common perk these businesses seek is "ample parking".
Obviously, San Francisco does Not have free and safe parking. The transit-first, elimination of public parking spaces, closure of streets to motor vehicular traffic are all wrong policies.
The morons in SF government routinely steal public parking for crap rent a bikes, car share companies. The blue revel scooters can park in a car spot and not pay.
These two don’t know the history of the Presidio, it has always been a main feature of San Francisco.
👎 nope
I dont believe anything
You get San Francisco view, not San Francisco smell 🤣
homeless people
Capitolism. Hmmm. Gross
Exactly, and I'm not sure why all the idiots in here are commenting on here, saying oh, it's so much better than downtown. Well know, it's actually not when you bring a bunch of rich jackasses into a nice area with trees and big parks near the Golden Gate bridge and you're ruin it for everybody else. Because you want to look like another silicon Valley.
I love it around the Presidio. The Marina seems to be very busy as well. That's where people go. The views are excellent, there's the water. The other place that's really cool is Mission Rock/Dog Patch.
