Several of these boat pirates live in the water on 3 crappy boats docked at the sunken docks next to the parking lot at 2300 Embarcaero, just southeast of coast guard island. Their boats are not at a legal dock, & they can be identified by the way the boats are packed to the gill with trash, like a hoarders house. 1 of they guys goes by the street name "just because". They are just north of park street Bridge.
Oh, ok, they mentioned the boat was found at union point park. That is the place I was pointing to. They are active in the evenings & at night. & what ur hearing from that area fireworks people light in the parking lot. Not gunfire. Boaters should leave some bait for them to swipe, like a dead laptop with a hidden airtag inside to track its location. The second it moves, report it stolen online so u have a case #. Gather ur GPS evidence & get the police to respond. Make sure u do it on a slow evening, like a Tuesday. They need to be in possession of the stolen item. & record the entire thing so any threats these people make can be used to add additional charges. Be safe.

As someone who lives in Oakland, I find this terrifying. The productive tax-paying citizens will leave and in fact are leaving, so the police force will only shrink further and become more helpless. I know for a fact that many crimes are never reported to the police, because why bother? So the stats you read for Oakland crime understate the problem. My wife and I both have businesses here that are not easy to move, so I feel a bit stuck, and I'm getting tired sleeping with one eye open. What does the future hold for this place?
I believe that some powerful people made a plan to drive many people out of the Town. I believe that the value of the land is at issue. The sole justification for government's monopoly on the use of force is its function to protect the human life process in a social context. Central to the human life process is property, the product of a citizen's life-sustaining action belongs to them. The failure to protect property rights is a failure to protect lives. We are material beings with material needs and we live by acquiring the materials needed for our life process. A government that fails to protect its citizen's rights is failing at its core mission, and is therefore undermining its own validity.
The government does not have a monopoly on force. If someone is beating you up, do you need to wait for the government to stop it? See Natural Rights and Natural Law. See Thomas Paine, Adam Smith, Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, etc. Self defense is the most fundamental right. Any "law" that infringes it is unethical, immoral, impractical, and illegal under natural law. Natural law is the basis of the U.S. Constitution and are the unalienable rights in the Declaration of Independence. See also the Federal court case Warren v District of Columbia. Police have no duty to protect most individuals.

I had several boats moored at the Port of Oakland back in the early 2000's and never had any problems. The so called "homeless" crisis hadn't hit the bay area as hard as it is now, but it was starting to get bad in some areas with people living in RV's along the frontage road to the freeway near the Berkeley marina. People who own boats and especially people who live aboard them are a different breed. They will take matters into their own hands and they have the means to do so. The bay has thousands of bodies buried in it so what's a few more. Fish gotta eat!
Classic Oakland...you are on your own here, and laws are not enforced w/ criminals, but if you are a tax payers with means, I would be very careful opening fire. Make sure you know the laws, because you could be charged yourself. Oakland is a failed city.
To be fair, if you're on a boat with a few spare 20 lb weights and easy access to the ocean, who's going to say those gunshots weren't an accidental discharge at nothing? Certainly nobody in the boat when you get back to the dock. If the cops won't show up for a homeowner they're unlikely to show up for some crackhead that says his buddy went missing when he went to rob a boat and there was some gunfire.
At my 70 years, still working five days a week, residing further to the east, I know of solutions to these scenarios, even solutions to preempt experiencing these scenarios. One of the favored tricks of communists is to trot out the anarchists, because they desperately need the false contrast in order to claim "law & order" party status. In the case of American communists, they could't find enough anarchists to roll out, so they quit enforcing the law just enough...that low level riot psychology took over in newsworthy cities. The pilot for this was perhaps Ferguson, with Holder threatening federal review if the city dared restore order and protect property. It didn't go as well as hoped, despite a series of coaching sessions for the Obama administration hosted by al sharpton on how to work up a street mob with little or no cause in hand.
As long as the cops do nothing, the criminals will continue to do what they want. If police won't do anything, it is up to owners to eliminate the criminals. I wonder who is giving police these orders... I suspect it's the same organization that ordered police in Maui to block roads to and from the fire areas.
The Bay Area as a whole with San Fran….are really turning into real life Gotham. No justice over there. I hear nothing but bad shit. Looting and shop lifting with no repercussions home invasions using car tags and now boat thefts. What is going on over there?

If these boat owners take matters into their own hands... the twisted minds at city hall will label them criminals.
Especially if it happens to be a white person being attacked, and the "pirate" is black, they'll come after the victim with fanatical zeal, determined to put the victim in jail for whatever "crime" they can invent, and meanwhile, the pirate walks away with probation and community service. I truly feel sorry for these people in Oakland.
Be safe.
You want this situation mitigated? Talk to a collective of 70-80 year old men. They are best resource for such an activity. The threat of legal action doesn't faze them.
hmmm flare guns would make a nice glow on their boats
You'll need more clues for OPD to figure out where they are
@@Damon-rw7wv the last shot in this clip with the boat abandoned on some rocks with several old rotten dock support beams sticking up out of the water, that is literally where they tie their boats up at when they aren't out stealing. The fact that Oakland, CA CBS is broadcasting this openly really speaks to the magnitude of the situation.
Now having it on the news will 100x greater
This is a direct result of California's soft-to-no stance on crime. Criminals know they have a really good chance of getting away with it so they don't fear punishment. What's truly sad, however, one of these boat owners is going to be forced to shoot someone, and when that happens it's the boat owner / victim who will face criminal charges because in California you must dial 911 while in a fetal position begging for your life...

Actually, the kips in Cali murder people on a continual basis…because it’s much more fun than protecting property ( well, the property of average citizens anyway).
When enough people leave and more land becomes available (in the hands of these powerful people) you will see a change in the way that these issues are dealt with. This may go on for another 5 or 10 years, maybe longer. Just my thoughts. This is not random circumstance.

As an outsider looking in all I wonder is how Oakland is still a place.
It would be awesome if you could yell that in Biden's ear.
Okay, Adam Smith
That's hell of a position to be put in. Not allowed to defend yourself, and no police doing it for you.
@ralphholiman7401 This is what the liberals voted for. I'm guessing most of those boat owners are libs too. Impossible to feel sorry for them.

That's why you need to get out of the "defend" mentality, and when you see them pirating, you switch from defending to "attacking". Stop calling the police and take care of these matters yourself. YOU'RE ON THE OCEAN. MAKE THEM "DISAPPEAR".
Exactly!! Make em fish food!
But, don’t let anyone see you do it and DO NOT talk about your justified vengeance with anyone. Like the old saying goes, “Dead men tell no tales”. The police don’t want to enforce the law and keep the peace vigilantism will be the result. Don’t get caught.
how hard would it be for marina group to grab the pirates and give a boat ride out 10 miles in the ocean and let them swim back?
We got two thieves running around down here in Monroe County, Florida the keys. They make everybody look bad they cost everybody extra time and money. I didn't have to lock my doors for 20 years. And I can't because I have to bunny rabbits running around my boat. And I don't want them to be trapped inside in case of sinking or fire. I guess I know now why they hung Pirates. Good luck, get a trail camera and hide it in your boat facing the stern.
"We don't even bother to call the police any more. We're going to handle it ourselves"
In a related story, local Home Depot stores are selling out of concrete blocks, chain, and padlocks.
This story is so sad. If OPD had 20 boats, they still wouldn't come out to stop anyone. It's not dept policy. And these aren't PIRATES. DAMN! They're dope fiends , thieves, and dumb asses. If you want these people stopped, use common sense. You're not dealing with Stanford physics program graduates. And there's so few people actually anchored out in the estuary, it shouldn't be hard to figure out who it is. Fyi, I'm an anchor out myself. And have been for about a year off and on. I work, don't use, and clean up after everyone out here, including some of the people I the marinas that don't give a shit. And btw, the last slip I had here, last year, I caught the "pirate" responsable for numerous thefts, including things off my boat. It’s suck to live or visit California nowadays. The crimes of theft are everywhere. My family personal belongings were stolen by the thieves smashing our rental van in a restaurant parking lot during day light when we visited San Francisco this summer.
Well, you went to San Francisco. So that's on you.
I love how the news just tells the criminals how incapable the police are to stopping them. Inviting said criminals to continue on with their fuckery.
I'm sure the criminals have long been aware of this.
Thank you for donating 3 guns to the local criminal element.
Any description of the perps
Six feet of rope and a couple of cinderblocks will fix your pirate problem, eh?
If the marina cant protect the boats and property the people will leave and the marina will close.
And THAT sums it up - Don't rely on the cops or the government to help. HANDLE IT YOURSELF.
At my 70 years, still working five days a week, residing further to the east, I know of solutions to these scenarios, even solutions to preempt experiencing these scenarios. Perhaps, old men like myself will have to cleanse the government promoted mayhem, chaos, property destruction and theft, and general civil disorder.

Private militias are going to have to start doing what the police, paid by taxes, can’t do.
The coast guard needs a fully armed Blackhawk
The Bay Area as a whole with San Fran….are really turning into real life Gotham. No justice over there. I hear nothing but bad shit. Looting and shop lifting with no repercussions home invasions using car tags and now boat thefts. What is going on over there?
The whole point of a boat is that it's mobile, if I had ANY inkling of crime going up, I would move my boat to safer waters BEFORE someone stole it.There are plenty of places safer than Oakland, infact just about anywhere is safer than Oakland.
The interesting part of this is that in Red States if someone steals our stuff and we find it, we kindly invite the thieves to stay until the Police arrive. And they ALWAYS wait.
So you can't handle it yourself you say? You need the police to come help you. Sending then to prison to be better criminals is your solution. I see.

They continued to hide while the monkey hung upside down outside of his car. I have never seen such a cowardly display but such a large group of so called "law enforcement". @@robertcovino4889 I know exactly what you mean. There are no Democrats who are willing to fund the police fully, enforce the laws and prosecute criminals.
