- Hans-Kristian Vittinghus is a Danish men's singles player whose career spanned more than 1 1/2 decades.
Whilst never the top player from Denmark, Vittinghus earned the respect of fans and fellow players alike through his never say die attitude, what he did on and off the court and his respect, and love for the sport
This documentary pays tribute, in his own words, to this badminton icon laying out his entire career from how he got into badminton, his early career results, how he thought World and Olympic Champion Chen Long would never make it, his infamous diving rally against Lee Chong Wei at the 2012 All England, what it meant to become a World Champion how and whyhe ended his career, plus lots more.
If you are a Vittinghus fan, a badminton fan, or just a sports fan in general, then you won't want to miss this one.
A special thank you to Hans-Kristian Vittinghus for taking the time to talk with me about his career :)

Other than the interview with HK Vittinghus, I don't own any of the footage in this video
Who feels we need more badminton documentaries like this? Part 2 coming soon...🙌🏻
Yes!!! 😍
Like hearing the players’ perspectives and journeys
Yes
Yessss please
Yessss 😁
Hans's story is really amazing. What he went through was difficult, but he took it like a champ. Thank you Ben for another great story.
So glad you like it and enjoyed the video. Part 2 coming soon...
Han's is a great character, love his spirit and showmanship.
Agree 100%
my coach tells us to "never let go of the shuttle," and Vittinghus is a prime example why. The indomitable human spirit in badminton
He really is
it's the rollercoaster that makes a man into legend.
it really is an incredible story! and it keeps getting better in part 2
Can't wait for next part. As a fan of badminton we really don't know what's happening in players life but videos like these make us to know everything they did(Their happy part, sad part etc...)
I think Ben you and vittingus really worth to be commentators for BWF
So glad you enjoyed it and found it interesting to watch. I absolutely loved listening to Vittinghus tell me all his stories
make documentaries on players who did not have a blooming junior career but flourished as great senior players.
Gives motivation for young struggling player
Will have a dig. I know LD didn't have a flourishing junior career. And also, Fu Haifeng wasn't even a part of Chinese junior team so that might be one
Yes as lot of young players with great potential just lose hope.
Auto search for old videos of Hans' matches, it looks like it would be very interesting to re-watch. Thanks Ben 🙏
Yeah u can watch with a different perspective
Congratulations on your first interview
Thank you. Hopefully the first of many
Incredible storytelling & production quality, exactly what badminton needs to grow more as a sport and community ! 🤩
Thank you so much. I hope it can help the badminton community grow...that would be super cool

It was interesting to make too 😊 glad u enjoyed it
This is such a well-thought-out video. Absolutely loving it!
Thank you so much! So glad u like it 😊
I've always felt he was an insane player when I watched his matches from 2020 onwards. Thanks for bringing his journey together in this video. Wonderful. Looking forward to part 2.
Part 2 is coming soon. Hopefully within next couple of days

Thank you ben for an amazing video, we need more badminton enthusiasts like you who can offer such quality content.
You're right. The Badminton community needs more storytelling content
Nothing but respect, superb entertaining player, great ambassador for the sport. Great content, thanks for sharing :) HK, please coach, commentate and play some fun exhibition matches!
It's wonderful. Autobiography kind of format. Player own narration of events makes it a better video. 👍👍💕💕🙌🙌
I liked this style too 🙌🏻
Ben Beckman, you are AWESOME. Super documentary with Hans Vittinghus, thank you very much for this one.
Aw thanks 😊 ur awesome too. Glad u liked it
Well done Ben😊 hope to see more of this in the future 🙏
If I can get more interviews I certainly will
Love your videos😃 really enjoyed to hear the story from his own perspective😃
I thought it was a pretty cool idea too. Glad u liked it
Thank you for making these videos Ben. From your prior videos, I have enjoyed your high production level and superb storytelling, and I hope you will continue to produce more interesting topics for badminton fans all across the globe, things that we don't see off the court. I'm going to watch this when I have time, but first things first...liking the video!
A like before a view...I'm flattered. Hope the video lives up to your pre-emptive like
@@BenBeckmanBadminton Oh it did! The style is different from your past videos which, coupled by the fact that you split this in 2 parts, has the viewer (me) a lot more invested in the story of HKV's career. Needless to say, this viewer is eagerly waiting for part 2!
Congrats for 3k subs🎉....Peek content... lets make our community more n more 💪stronger
Yes...let's really grow it 🙂🙌🏻
Very nicely edited. Good story
Thank you 😊
This is one of the very insightful videos that dive into a badminton athlete's life, ty hans for talking openly about harsh truths, injuries, and setbacks of such an incredible sporting journey of yours. totally enjoyed it. I may have criticized Ben for taking too long to edit this video, but now it makes sense as it includes all his old match footage that syncs with the right storytelling.
It truly is an amazing story. I found out a lot in the interview and in editing. Vittinghus is a legend
7:35 Wow didn’t know Hans was such a successful junior player
A documentary of a similar level for LCW would be a real W
That would be insane...might go ask the big man himself now
@@BenBeckmanBadminton for real. Someone whom a documentary deserves not the other way around
I recommend lowering the volume of music/sound effects next time, it overpowers the voiceover a bit sometimes
Thanks for the tip. Hope you enjoyed the video otherwise
@@BenBeckmanBadminton yes, looking forward to the second part!
Nearly missed this episode, I think "鱼塘王子" (Fish pool diving princess) is a more famous nickname for his Chinese fans. (My bad, it should actually be translated to prince not princess)
Fish pool diving princess? Hahahaha. If it is being missed then please spread the word 🙂🙏🏻
@@BenBeckmanBadminton Oh, my bad, just notice that it should be prince not princess.
@@dianliu2109 I did think that 🤣
Is it possible to do Viktor Axelsen next??
I'd love to but I feel he still has plenty more to say
38:11 you cannot mention vittinghus without mentioning that tweener
Haha he is pretty naughty , i remember he mention chong wei should be banned forever for using drugs right before malaysia play denmark in a thomas cup match. I was angry lol but also happy he lost his match against a young lee zii jia. But i guess thats part of sports haha. I remember malaysia lost that match overall.
🤣
Great video, very high quality content!
Thanks 🙌🏻
