    For anyone still wondering...I have a ryzen 5 2600, 16gb ram and a 3060 12gb rtx and a Reverb G2. I can run MSFS at 115% open XR resolution (much more than full res) and have the Sim settings between medium to high. It is butter smooth and I'm so glad I took the risk. It is way beyond worth it and blows oculus quest 2 away with the clarity and smoothness of the Sim. I'm incredibly stoked. The new s10 and NVIDIA updates are a real game changer with DLSS set to balanced I'm getting mostly solid 30fps and 25fps in huge cities. What a time to be alive!

      I am not using the Oculus App. I use the WMR for SteamVR, since I am using the Reverb G2. I am not that familiar with the Quest 2 (which is what i assume your are using) so I can't really give any specific tips. In order to get a game to run smoother I just played around with the graphical settings or dropped the resolution scale to about 60% to 80% and this worked for the most part. But there were still games that ran pretty bad after all of that (mostly the non native VR games), like I mentioned in the video.

    With tweaks and compromises, you can still get a good experience with the G2 even on an old GPU like the RTX 2060 Super (that I use) along with an i7 3770k CPU. I run Half Life Alyx smoothly with all max settings at static resolution (forced through launch parameters) at 100% steam vr resolution with motion reprojection forced on (which targets 45fps). I run The Forest smoothly with forced reprojection at 50% steam vr resolution. With tweaks and compromises, you can have your money go really far and don't necessarily need a 3080+ etc to have a good experience!

    • @S3econd
      @S3econd ปีที่แล้ว

      how’d you tweak everything? i have a 5 3600 and a rtx 2060 and i use a valve index and i get really bad frame drops all the time even at 80 hz

    • @gordonfreeman5958
      @gordonfreeman5958 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@S3econd Well I suppose we have completely different hardware so I can't say for sure why. One difference is that the RTX 2060 Super has an extra 2Gb of VRAM which might be critical. My card's 8Gb is just barely enough to avoid frame drops on my G2. Also, the only reason my gaming experience is smooth is because of forced motion reprojection - which is implemented in Windows Mixed Reality for Steam VR for my headset. It limits to 45fps so there is never any big jump between 90 and 45 as you're playing. The Valve Index will have its own technology that works differently. If you install fpsVR, that will show you what your CPU, GPU, VRAM usage etc are like during frame drops while playing which could give clues to help you work it out.

      The 3060 will definitely be a decent upgrade and your cpu is still fine if your primary focus is gaming. I would wait a little longer however, since we are already in the next generation of GPUs and you could save up some more until we get the 4060 (or other equivalent cards).

With the 1600S it runs all 1080p flatscreen games and VR can be "Playable" but not the best experience. And this is a 6gb card. You're using a mobile version of the 3060 which performs 10% worse than the desktop variant(some games running as low as 30% worse) on top of already lowering performance to save battery. In fact, the mobile 3060 performs about the same as the 1660 super. Btw unlike what the other guy said, your CPU should still hold up for modern gaming as it shouldn't completely bottlecap the mobile variant of the 3060 unless you're playing games that don't utilize the full capabilities of your CPU or ram(like MInecraft).
      Btw desktop 3060 runs every top VR game at high settings in my experience. Testing was done on an Oculus Rift S and Quest 2 and both run at their respective frames fine. You'd only be experiencing frame drops on headsets like the Vive Pro 2 but with a price of nearly 1000 dollars, you could probably afford a 3080 anyways to run it.

      Yes it will! The mobile RTX 3060 for laptops isn't as powerful as the desktop version of the GPU, but you should still have a great experience. You might have to tweak the ingame settings a bit more, but thats it.

      I actually bought a laptop with a 3060 recently so I thought about covering this at some point. I haven't properly tested it yet, but generally speaking the mobile 3060 is just about 5-10% slower in regular gaming. So even on a laptop you should be good to go for VR!

  • @sesinhosantos5047
    @sesinhosantos5047 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    No it is not, good enough, but it is very decent for casual playing, meaning you don't depend on imput lag to enjoy VR, such is the case with Sim Racing. If you want to have crisp image without having to compromise on resolution, you will have to increase detail, and with that, the stress on the hardware will increase, you will still hit a comfortable Fps, but you will notice it in the steering wheel, and depending on your device, Quest 2 for instance, will trigger AWS and you will get all sort of spikes that won't help you at all.
    Meaning that you will always have to compromise quite a bit to achieve a decent experience. Obviously a couple of spikes won't matter playing casual stuff, and if you are gonna play cyberpunk in VR you will be more than happy playing at 45fps at medium detail.

    What's great about motion sickness is that you can get rid of it if you play enough vr, i used to get heavily sick after every time I played, and I was on stand alone so the fps and graphics were super choppy and hard on the eyes, every time i got out of vr it felt like I just went threw 50 different portals at the same time and just so happened to arrive at earth, I felt like I wanted to throw up, but I kept coming back and back and back, the main reason I probably don't get sick anymore is because I played gorilla tag, this was a while ago like 2 summers ago, but I no longer get sick, the only time I do get a headache though is when I play for long periods of time, but that's because I use the quest 2 default strap.

      First, install OpenXR and play it instead of steamVR. OpenXR provides a Turbo mode which boost 10 fps more. Then, turn on DLSS to Adaptative (nvidia control panel), disable AWS in Oculus Debug tool. I have 3060 laptop and got 80 fps on Half life at 100% scale, medium graphics. V-sync off. Also you should buy a cooler pad because CPU heats a lot when playing VR. Then you have to know that some game are not optimised for VR like RE2 or RE8. MSFS will probably be rough on the 3060. You'll have to do some tweaking to get it to feel pleasant. I'd personally say the 3060 ti would be a better option for it.

      In general MSFS VR isn't a good experience without something like a 4080 or 3090. The 3060 TI wouldn't be a huge difference either, just because of the super demanding nature of MSFS VR.
