  • I decided to go back to an old school Glock 43 as a minimalist carry when I am hiking or kayaking etc. I am using a T-Rex holster and we take it to the range.

I carry the 43 daily. One in the pipe and the mag topped off. I also keep an extra mag on me. The way I see it, if 13 rounds of 9mm isn’t enough to get me out of whatever trouble has caused me to need to pull the 43 out. I’m in a bad situation anyways!!

Great review, I bought my 43 today.
I wanted a sub as my primary is a p320 m18 and I thought I wanted a p365 but the 43 feels and operates so much better as a versatile sub

I carry a 43 regularly. It's a great pistol, and I shoot it well. With the Pearce +1 pinky extension you get a reliable 8 round total capacity, without adding bulk. It's a solid, proven platform.

I don't think you're weird. Glock 43 is the smallest reliable 9mm that is shootable in my opinion. It is the gun I carry when I don't feel like carrying something bigger.

I strictly CCW the Glock 43 when hiking which I do a lot of with a TLR6 light/ laser in a cheap Glockstore $30 holster and absolutely love shooting the 43 cause it's small enough but big enough at the same time and Glock is King on real world reliability over past 40 years.

It's funny to others that you went back to a Old School G43.
BUT I stand with you, because I went through pretty much the same CCW journey. Bought and tried pretty much ALL the popular carry pieces. Finally decided to stop being so damn foolish and carry a gun that I have unwavering faith in...a Glock 43. I don't regret it for one second.
Been thinking of getting a G42 as well. As my hands are pretty beat up and I fear the day will come a 9mm will hurt to shoot,as a 45acp is already like that for me.

Add a hogue beavertail grip and it will soften that recoil right out for embattled hands. And the 42, also with a hogue, is like butter. Honestly, I’ve watched gel tests on 380 and wonder why I don’t just carry the 42 all the time. Best small 380 out there.

I found swapping the glock 43x trigger out for the polymer apex trigger helped me out quite a bit. Most of my glocks esp gen 5s I'm fine with the stock trigger but the 43x I really did not like the factory trigger.

My edc is a Glock 42. It's a reliable firearm that works for me. The only thing I've added was an oem magazine with the baseplate extension. Like yourself, I'm into biking, hiking and kayaking. Anyways, I'm not into buying stuff as soon as it comes out. Chances are there will be issues with something or other. Take care and have a good one.👍

Hard to beat the 42 cause I thought 43 was thin until I shot a 42 . One soft shooter and disappears CCW.

    • @ChrisfromGeorgia
      @ChrisfromGeorgia 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@douglasphillips24It really is. The only downside is the cost and availability of 380 ammo as opposed to 9mm. Being a slim guy, larger pistols print easily on me. That being said, I like some of the pocket pistols made by other manufacturers, but the quality just isn’t the same imo.
Take care and thanks for the reply.👍🏻

I recently stopped at the gun store to compare the 43 to the 43X. If you stand both guns upside down on their sights and compare the grip length you'll notice that the 43X is only a little over half an inch longer and you get four more rounds. It was an easy decision.

I get it for me depending on how I am dressed or what I am doing I want the lightest smallest gun occasionally. The more rounds more weight. It is my bare minimum carry. Other times I am carrying a HK VP9SK or a Canik Mete MC9

I respect your choice, but there are plenty of similarly sized and priced good pistols (P365, Hellcat, Taurus GX4, Ruger Max9, Shield Plus, Canik Mete etc.) with at least 10 rounds capacity and generally better out of the box (trigger, sights and optics ready). This is 2023 you know 😅

@@waholoopesorry74Totally agree. It’s all about reliability, and I’ve read some Sig owners report 365 corrosion. And it amazes me how so many guys love the 365 with the “1x1 board” crummy-feeling grip that helps obstruct a mag drop. Oh I forgot, they’e prepping for a barroom shootout that 10,000 to 1 will never happen.😜
