I remember hearing the podcast on Exodus talking about doing this series and ive been so excited. Mark, you are largely respected and devoted to the sport. I look forward to the rest of this series and have thoroughly enjoyed it so far.
Just noticed Hal Blood in the intro to this series. Now I'm pumped to see Mark try to tack a big Maine buck. Not many hunters track deer, but here in Maine it is a tradition and in places with low deer densities its often the most effective method.
I enjoyed the first two episodes, but this is one that I have been looking forward to. Tony is such a nice helpful guy and this style and terrain is completely different than the hills of West Virginia. I definitely want to try it some year. Thanks for sharing this Mark.
Love this episode. Real life even when alone it's not easy even when it appears it is. This was a good hunt and learning new techniques. I am going to apply in my area regardless of terrain. Thank you. You all at meat eaters are appreciated 🙏🏼
Great episode. Family is everything! Great way to end it. Decoy hunting scares the hell out of me because you have to put trust in your fellow hunters that you don’t know. Be safe!
I agree, but if your shooting at a buck/any large game without seeing it in your binoculars or sights and not seeing a human behind it....you should NOT be hunting.
Wow, very exciting and so hard. I see why most people wont take up hunting. It is tough. Especially, missing family and wanting to be around family. Good on you Mark for trying it out. Hard to be away from family. Keep up the good work. 🦌🦌🦌🦌
My heart dropped for you when I saw that rack pop up at 5 yards, I knew what was about to happen. Wish you would have done 5-7 days on these trips instead of 3. That area was primed, bet you would have figured it out with a few more days.
Grew up hunting white tail up in the panhandle of Nebraska. My town had a replica of Stonehenge made out of old cars and we liked to get together and shoot cannons
I wonder why some hunters say " tonight were hunting this place". I say morning and evening because it always makes me think your about to pull out the ole spotlight and shine for deer when you say tonight
Hey there Vermonter here. I agree there's no where like home. I've always wondered Michigan compares to VT. Seems to me it's somewhat the same besides the real nice one's that come out of Michigan now an then. Any thoughts?
Mark! Grow that goatee Bro', go big, go biker big. No really, it's where one's medicine comes from, your mojo. Grow it out like supernatural antennae for deer. Dig?
I get the whole family first thing, and most hunters would agree but the whole “gosh id stay but I really need to see my family” thing falls on deaf ears when he’s being paid and is on a film production schedule for the hunt. I mean he could have kicked around DC another day too after he smoked that doe in the guts but didn’t…
Worked hard and tried your best. Maybe try not sitting right next to the decoy. That's where the deer's eyes will be fixed. And most certainly be able to pick you up.
There was this dude that i saw, driving and talking to a camera and looking at his phone.... I didn't like it so i pulled up next to him and chucked my beer at him.
Instead of a cardboard deer decoy, you and the camera guy should dress in a giant deer costume, you in front and him behind. That would fool almost any buck in those woods. 😂
That type of decoy is primarily used in bow season. I imagine their some knot heads somewhere who do it during rifle season, but why? If Mark was rifle hunting that big tank would have been dead without the decoy. So, yes it’s primarily for archery to help get closer to deer, but there aren’t legal constraints keep a gun hunter from doing the same as far as I know.
I'm sure like myself alot of ppl here subscribed to this channel because they liked Steve Rinella but over the last year or longer he's been in like maybe 4 videos ..WE NEED MORE STEVE 😫
I stumbled across MeatEater thinking it was a cooking show, just saw the title and clicked. Aaaand going hunting for the first time in 20+ years. I talked about it so much my family thought Steve was like a work friend of mine.
I love eating meat. I don’t like the idea of taking life but humans have been hunting and eating animals since the beginning of time, so, humans are carnivores by nature. It’s why we have those 2 sharp teeth called “canines”. I could eat just chicken and beef for the rest of my life! I’ve always wanted to try deer.
I hate to say this, because I love Meateater shows. This method of hunting is ridiculous in my mind. You didn't see deer after awhile because I think your scent probably permeated the entire area and they moved out temporarily. @@brendanwhyte2592 I read a stat somewhere that for every deer taken in gun season its 2.5 shots. Lots of people shouldn't be hunting lol
The series is awesome. So many great ways to hunt.
I see a Vegetarian cook book under the tree at the Kenyon household this Christmas.....
Great show. For all these shows, the cameramen are incredible and deserve praise
I see you with that Howler bros hat! Def trying to catch trout while you were out there.
A whole season of REAL HUNTING!!!!! No high fences, no bucks you've watched grow up for 4 years!! Straight hunting baby looove it!!!

This one and the Arkansas hunt with Clay are my favorites
Are you guys doing one week in November again? Loved that series last year.
I like the Sitka gloves!
How have I lived in Nebraska my whole life and never been on a hunt like this and these dudes out here rackin em up 😂😂😂
Know exactly how you feel about the kids mark. Crazy how your perspective changes! Great episode
Loving the new series Man
Yeah they no how to put a show together. Best on the planet
2 more months until whitetail opens in my area. looking forward to getting out again!
I’ve hunted with both Tony’s dad & his brother. Cool video

What a stud buck at 5 yards!
Great to see you have your priorities straight. Those kids will be gone before you realize it. That would be a tough way to hunt.
Well, looks like someone found my favorite spot in Pine Ridge.
I see so many hunters that wait too long to knock an arrow. It pains me. So close though!
Amazing episode! The ending really struck a chord with me
Awesome adventure for Mark
gee it looks really hard, so many variables but appreciate the huge effort.
A little David Allen Coe campfire cover on the opener…
Nice…
I wanna see the episode snow tracking bucks in northern New England !!!!!
Very interesting content Mark🙌 .
I love the variety👊.
Good Hunting!
JO JO IN VT 😆💕
I'm a simple man, I see a video with Mark, I click like
I wonder if those bucks were freaked out by a single buck rattling his horns all by himself. Maybe do grunts or a snort weeze or something else??
Super awesome, but I thought you were supposed to wear the decoy as a hat and use a long bow! I like the upgrade lol
I wonder why some hunters say " tonight were hunting this place". I say morning and evening because it always makes me think your about to pull out the ole spotlight and shine for deer when you say tonight

Anyone on here ever hunt in Nebraska on public land? Looks cool
Nebraska ❤️
Mark out here acting like that decoy is the cloak of invisibility 🤣
I'm pretty damn sure that you're sitting where I've sat before on the Dismal River....

Plains Indians would skin out a deer and put on the hide and get right up close enough to kill with their bows back in the day.
That's both a let down and uplifting. Great show.
Maybe not setting up directly behind the decoy?
What brand of decoys are those?
Looks like a heads up decoy.
Heads Up Decoy
Mark “How do you manage life with this lifestyle”
Tony “blah, blah, blah we don’t have kids, blah, blah, blah”
Mark’s look: “Oh”
😂😂😂
So are you going to every single state that has whitetail?
Hi Stephen
Intense.
Mark I'm just wanting to tell you that Steve rinella would have got him.. step up your game man!
Is Wisconsin on the list?
If I guess the area y'all at please take me hunting 😂😂😂
5 yds! been there...
Should have been drawn back as soon as you knew he was coming
Two times lost a deer trying to hide behind that damn decoy. With a tree for cover 5 yards away.
You’ve got to slow it down brother, deer are smarter than they look
need a better decoy, like the Ultimate Predator that sticks on to your bow to hide behind
Shows Drone footage, next scene he’s stalking a buck 😂
The coyote hunter in me thinks move that decoy away from you.
private or not, Isnt it dangerous to be hiding behind a decoy?
not during bow season
That seems like a very good way to get shot…
Or is it an archery only season?
(I’m a British hunter here with no experience with public land)

Do not use a decoy during rifle season EVER!!!

Hunting means a lot more than ranches that are the main problem for Hunting.
You should have kept the camera man farther back. That is what I would have done. still could have gotten video footage.
On that very close one, its to bad you were not right next to that small bush in front of you. Good entertainment however.

There should be a disclaimer: Don't try this during rifle season.

Illegal where I am to use decoys during rifle
