I’ve had a steady sketchbook practice for the past 6 years and by now I really know what it takes to have a full sketchbook that you love, without turning the practice into a chore.

I am just today making tiny watercolor palettes for keeping in the car and at work. I am creating little grab bags for those quick opportunities to be creative. Thanks for all your sketchbook ideas! Yes I think taking your sketchbook with u everywhere is the most important one, it’s so useful! I bring mine to school so I can sketch in it during study breaks and classes after I’ve finished my work.

Thank you! I used to have the same issue…. Empty sketchbooks until I got the perfect ideas! Not anymore, no I have fun filling sketchbooks and doing that I get more fun ideas!

I just finished my 4th art journal today. I started art journaling in 2017 and have periodically journaled ever since. My biggest problem is coming up with ideas so I appreciate your suggestions and will put them to use. Thanks for sharing your journey with sketchbooks.

I have always sketched. I will take it with me when I have doctors appointments. When I know I will be at other spots where I will be waiting. For a very long time I would look at coloring books and there is almost always parts I love and then the other parts. I will either just look at it then draw my own version the way I would rather see it. Then I was starting at the part I wanted to change and the rest of the page would change and I would end up with a page that was very rarely nothing like the original. Was a quick jump to just what I liked. Not sure why but only very recently began coloring some of them. Thanks for all your ideas to help give us a spring board and all the tips that I am sure will help me get way more out of my sketching.

Hi! Sadly mine is made locally, but I’m ordering a similar one to test it on an upcoming video… in the meantime mine has 250gr watercolor paper 😊
