WHAT.THE.HELL.WAS.THAT??!!! That Tom sounded like Scooby Doo when he laughs. 😂😂😂. Or a squeaky swing. Or a I don't friggin know. Too bad you couldn't have made him gobble a few more times. 😂😂
Yes, he sounded like the only hen I ever heard gobble...over two hundred times. I once shot an Arkansas gobbler with several anomalies like two normal size horizonal beards, a club foot, 14.4 lbs., and a waddle that extended several inches below the beards. Enjoyed.
While I love a gobbler that comes in perfectly to script, it’s more fun calling in the tougher oddballs ain’t it. I’ve matched wits with some of these toms and left frustrated, puzzled and thrilled because of how they play the game. It’s our challenge and enjoyment but their lives depend on beating us more often than we beat them. Great video.
I have heard this exact sounding gobble one time before. But I did not know it was a gobble for sure until watching this video. Last season as I was set up semi-blind off the roost, I started hearing this EXACTLY. It repeated probably 75-100 times, I heard some light leaf rustling about 80 yards away, and not once did I ever say to myself that it for sure had to be a turkey, though I did wonder if it could have been a hen. Never got to see what it was making the noise to find out either. When I heard this gobble in the video I got a literal shiver as I came to the realization that I may very well have actually been that close to a red-hot Tom doing the same thing.
Years ago. I studied a Champion Turkey Callers Techniques and Strategies. I think he's in Alabama. I can't recall his Name. This Sequence worked real good for Me. Get in early unnoticed. The Birds will Gobble on their Own generally. Late Season is generally harder.(More Educated Public Birds). Set up before light. Tree Call. Lightly. When it's light enough to Fly Down. Fly down cackle. Cluck and Purr lightly.(Purr=Feeding & Milling about). Add a Fly down Cackle and Gobble sparingly. Purr some Sparingly. Some Old Gobblers may be Leary of Owl Calling and be able to distinguish fake Calls. Try a Crow Call. Turkeys can Hear Very very well. Be very cautious making Noise. When You enter the Woods in the dark, hopefully without using a flashlight. Headed to a Known Roost area. Move Slowly and Quietly. Listen Hard. For Tree calling and or put-ing.=(Alert Call) If, they are Putting on the Roost. They Hear You and know something is approaching. Approach setting up accordingly. Somebody may have shot that Bird through the Neck Previously. God Bless, C.
I called in a bird one time that only squeaked instead of gobbling. I roosted him the day before and got him the next morning. Craziest thing ever, he squeaked about 20 times coming in.
The most unusual and puzzling gobbler I ever killed still remains a mystery to me. I worked a gobbler that was hened up he would answer everytime I called to him but just wouldn't come in, I moved at least 3 times and he finally showed up. The strangest part was his beard was solid white/short and looked like a paint brush. I called my local Game warden to take a look at it and he said he had never seen anything like that before.
I love how fast everything can change while turkey hunting. When they decide they're coming it happens really fast sometimes.
Never know what you’re going to see or hear in the turkey woods. Addicted to it!!! Great hunt
Thanks 👍

That was nuts. I've never heard anything like that. Is this from this or last year? What state are you in, if I can ask?
I killed one several years ago that had strange sounding gobble, but it wasn’t as weird as that one. Congratulations.
Bam-ba-lam! Congrats guys.
Good job......good vid......
