I’ve only had one do it in 19 years of chasing them. He also had a crazy gobble I’ve never heard before also and 5 bearded. It was late season in river bottom where the grass and weeds were 2-3’ tall.
Lol Shane I've experienced that situation as well and it panned out pretty much the same way. 😂 it's comical to look back on though. Great video and enjoyed the banter between you and Tyler.
Yeah. Wife and I had a bird once that continually hopped tree to tree looking for the hen(us). Now I won't shoot a roost bird morning or night, but if he starts limb hopping like that then he's not playing right. We took that gene out of the pool that morning. 2 hours after dawn. Perfectly legal to shoot a bird from a tree in WA. And how he was hopping just as this one was. Game on!
40 years of turkey hunting and I have never seen a gobbler do that. Smart sucker. Sounded like he was bombing you with turkey droppings 😂great video Shane.
I got the Vid Live. Seeing if Shane can get a Turkey Gobble here in the 405. Speakers are up. Listening Out My back Door. That Time of the Year. God Bless, C.
My First Bird did the same exact thing, flew to the tree I was under. He heard a hen and flew off. Second day I say heck I’m getting aggressive today. So I crossed a thigh deep bottom to get closer to him. I rounded a tree and there he was, maybe 30 yards from me sitting on a low limb of a tree. He just looked at me for a long minute. I don’t shoot Birds on the Roost. So I made a noise and he flew off. It was allot of fun though, but ain’t they all! That’s why we do what we do…
If he flew to me like that I know what I would’ve done. Because technically he wasn’t in his “roost tree” anymore. Coming thru the air or coming on the ground you still called him in. Great video sir
That was some really good footage of that bird. Can't believe he was right above you. That bird didn't see you at all. Just a bummer you couldn't connect to him.
Learned the hard way , never call to a bird on the limb knowing they a good chance that they can see your setup , I’ve had birds do the same . Sometimes it works out, but most of the time it doesn’t
Me and my 12 year old hunted a bird like that this morning. He had 2 trees that he could everything within 60 yds and would just hop limb to limb looking for a hen. He finally busted us around 9 am when we were making our final move.
First turkey I ever killed pitched and landed in the tree I was setup on. He finally flew off about 200 yards from my original setup and I killed him 4 hours later. Been hooked ever since
Shane it's time you and Moonshine Tyler part ways. This is your channel if he knows so much let him start his own. I've always set my ass still if a turkey gobbled at me. I was taught if he answers you on the roost he want forgot where you are and he will show up eventually. I watched Michael Wadell call a turkey for a lady one morning that never touched the ground. He flew from tree to tree. Michael told the lady shoot him and she did. That was a great hunt.
They won’t always come in , sometimes you gotta run and go to kill them steep mnt birds , there’s a time and place for it . They done the right thing running and gunning but they got in to much of a hurry and got to close to a bird knowing they was a chance he could here them walking but choose to keep cutting the distance , they got to close and the bird was coming to them walking and busted them
@@ShaneSimpsonHunting I wasn't sure if this was a lame comedy show or a turkey hunt. Too much talking, can't believe that turkeys can't hear that from a long ways off. To each his own tho.
Coming way too close to a roosted gobbler. No blind, no decoys and very open terrain. Then, calling to a bird that can see to the exact spot you are calling from. This points out all the ways a super aggressive approach can fail miserably. On top of that, you educated this bird and that will make him much harder to call in. I have watched plenty of videos where you take a much more cautious approach and use patience to kill a bird. Not sure why you switched tactics and got so aggressive. Two guys and a camera make it VERY hard to get away with an aggressive approach like this, especially in such open terrain with a bird in a tree after it gets light. What a shame. This bird was very hot and probably could have been killed with a more patient approach. Too bad for you and your friend.
Limb snapper is a hoot himself. You the man Shane had that hooting stick running and they answered it for you. Keep them videos coming!
You and your friend had me in stitches laughing with the banter. That Tom sure had a few tricks up his sleeve too.
I have had that happen 3 times in 37yrs of hunting. I have had them do it in thicker cover to try to see me on the ground. Great video

Great video! I knew it was game over with those high pitched putts!!
You guys are so fun to watch and listen to y’all bustin each others chops
“I just said what, don’t get no attitude” 😂 I know how it is when tensions get high hunting with a buddy
“Lower your voice, dude.” 😂😂Fantastic episode!
Awesome video Shane! Keep up the good work
😂 love the videos. Had to share your channel with all the guys. Keep them coming!
Thanks! Will do!
I've had that happen. Danged ol' birds! Lol. Good luck and stay safe brother
Between this episode and the podcasts, I hope yall 2 stick together 😂

Well that was interesting! Another good one Shane! Never know what those silly birds are going to do!🦃

Interesting turkey hunting, thanks Shane👍🏻
Lol the student playing psychological operations on the Turkey Professor 😂. Trust your years of experience. Awesome video.
I hunt the same woods every year right in their bedroom and I have never seen that happen before.
To shoot, or not to shoot, that is the question. That was very cool.
Way to make the owl call work Shane.

Enjoying these vids. Which owl call are you using in most of your videos?
Nevermind...found it!
You ever seen that movie "Grumpy Old Men"?
Yeah. It was filmed a few miles from my house. lol
If he flew to me like that I know what I would’ve done. Because technically he wasn’t in his “roost tree” anymore. Coming thru the air or coming on the ground you still called him in. Great video sir

I’m from Catman’s channel, I love his vids. and your vid was awesome! New sub.
Thanks for subbing!
I’ve never had that happen. Really got in your head 😂
That's a hunt you don't forget even though the gobbler ain't going home with you.
What kind of red dot & mount are you running on your gun...?
What owl hooter was you using, thanks
I love that owl call youre using, who makes it??
Thanks. You can find it here: www.shanesimpsonhunting.com/locator-calls
It’s fun hunting with someone else once in a while til they make you crazy 😜
What size do you drill out the holes on your hooter for more volume?
I don't drill mine out typically but did drill them out for a demo video. I drilled that one to 13/32"
Some hooters just don’t seem like they’re loud enough, if you try and force too much air the call it fails?
I can’t believe that bird didn’t crap on your ball cap
Learned the hard way , never call to a bird on the limb knowing they a good chance that they can see your setup , I’ve had birds do the same . Sometimes it works out, but most of the time it doesn’t
That’s crazy …. Don’t poop on me 😂 insane
The local Turkeys like this Vid. Gobbling on My Creek. God Bless. C.

Man that was wild!!! Great video.
Appreciate it!!
Wow just watched this video can’t believe he was right above you and wouldn’t pitch down close to you I have the same kind of luck
Great footage, surprised in the footage how you could never see his beard...
At one point, you can briefly see it. Looks like about a 10" beard with a crook in it.
That was pretty Western. I have never had that happen. He was definitely looking for the hen he heard.

Success! You called him in under 30 yards!
Hey Shane! What kind of call do you use? It sounds great!!!
Mouth call or owl call?

I can tell ya what I’d done in don’t involve him flying out that tree either 😂
Yall brothers? 😂
Great camera work!
Gobblers like that will drive us crazy, yet we still go back for more punishment! LOL
For my own curiosity why do you have your sight halfway up your barrel?
Go to the 24-minute mark in this video: th-cam.com/video/YZPH7KtcUA0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=HCP61MOY8Nu1VCH8
Yep I just watched it. Nice set up. I'm really considering getting me a red dot for my gun
Foot! Dare that gobbler to land so close and fly so far.
I kept waiting for turkey poop to hit your head!
That was one smart gobbler and great footage.
Thanks
What owl hooter do u use????
Hook's Hoot'n Stick www.shanesimpsonhunting.com/locator-calls
Take em how you can get them in bama
You gotta limb bust those.
lol
Smart ol bird lol
Darnit!!!
Wonder if he'd have come down for a decoy?
I believe he would have.
The real meaning of gettin shit on!
Sorry Shane…I can’t help but laugh at that one. All things unfortunate….nothing you can do but laugh!
You eat All Them Turkeys?
Not all. I give some away to non-hunting friends and coworkers.
What mouth call you using ?

@@ShaneSimpsonHunting when will you have some more in stock?
Going to try and make some this weekend if I find some extra time.
Is that not legal in the state you were in to shoot them out of the tree it’s legal in my state as long as it’s shooting light
Ala birds?

Hunt alone or with a kid. Prime example.
That sucks lol
Should have known better than to call from there as open as it was..After he flew to the tree he was fair game🦃🦃
Still called him in. Great Hunt
Thanks
good try!
Good thing that was on video some people would look at you funny if you told that story without the video evidence
You was way to close on that last bird
Obviously that wasn't my intention. 😅
Sorry, this hit me wrong and I didn't finish it.
What part?

they will never hunt together again!!!
😅
I think you are talking to loud
I wear a lav mic, which makes me sound louder than I actually am.
You guys are good hunters..but you spend to much time on onx. How did any of you ever hunt before that.
I used the analog version of onX in the 90s and early 2000s. 😀
Who the hell is this guy… better off by your self Shane
