YOU JUST SAVED ME QUITE SOME BACKS WITH THIS SIMPLE VIDEO YET STRAIGHT TO THE POINT, STAY BLESSED, KEEP UP THE HUMOR AS WELL, HOPE THE LITTLE BOY FOLLOWS THE LEGACY.
I had taken my machine in for a speed error service they fixed it but when I got the machine back I had bird nesting issue big time. I took it back they said it was the thread I was using (they even gave me the thread they used) and supposedly when they tested the machine it was fine but when I took it home still bird nesting. I did notice that the upper thread tension was pretty tight compared to normal but could not figure it out for the life of me. I decided to google the issue and saw your video. Hallelujah!! as Tamara said!!! You saved me a trip to finding another brother authorized repair shop. I saw the black tab in front of the metal tab and was like Hallelujah!!! Thank you for fixing my sewing machine!! Love this video!! Liking this video!!!
Its fixed! Took the machine apart ( again) and did everything you said. It works perfect! Yes there was thread stuck under the bobbin wit Dr and yes the tab was on the outside. Fixed! I can't tell you how thrilled I am!
Omg!!!!! This video saved me!!!! I had the exact same scenario and I couldn’t even believe that you were describing exactly what I had done before I started having problems. This fixed it!!!!! I had tried for hours before finding this video. Thank you so much!!!!!!
OMGGG I praise you and your girlfriend. I was down with my machine for 4 whole days and had no idea what the issue was. I contacted Brothers technical support, cried, even had a friend come and look at it; couldn't find the problem. I came across your video and it was heaven. This was "Exactly" the problem. I opened up my machine 4 days ago to clean it and didn't notice the metal flap went behind the black plate. My machine wasn't catching the bobbin thread because the flap closed when the pressure foot was up and opened when it was down... wow freaking amazing... Thank you so so much!!! back to work I go!
SO Happy I kept searching you tube for a possible solution! This was it 100% you fixed my issue! I reached out to other sewers and an embroidery group for help. This saved me big time! Thank you so much for your video!
you are literally a life saver i’ve haven’t used my machine in like 2 years and every once in a while i’d take it out to try and repair it, never took it to a repair shop since it wasn’t really in my budget! but this video is exactly what was wrong and i couldn’t figure it out! omg you don’t understand how greatful i am that you made this video and i came across it! god bless you and your family!
You are a life saver! My husband replaced The thread cutter and the auto threader and when he put it all back together, I was having all these loops on the underside of fabric. I am so glad I found your video. Worked perfect after this minor fix. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
The best video ever!!! You made me so happy! I brought my se400 machine from the mecanic and he did solve the bobin case problem but my tension was a mess,he left it set at 9,and he did broke the case a bit, making my embroidery hoop beet into that, but the biggest problem was the tension. It was exactly this problem, now after your video,I fixed it! Without breaking anything! Thank you so much!
thank you thank you ....took apart my machine for the same reason....bobbin winder not working and the same thing happened...thought I had broken my bobbin casing. All fixed now thanks to your video. Yeah!! I can sew again!
Will you please do a video on how to open or pull apart the case or frame? I need to replace the spool pin that broke. I just got to the point of removing the screws but I can’t pull apart the case.
OMG... Thank you so much. This very thing happened to me. I was about to give up and have it repaired. You are a huge help. I'd buy you a beer if I could.
Thank you! I've had this machine apart repairing small issues more times than I can count, and this solved the last silly, frustrating problem! (I put it in the styrofoam in its original box when we moved, but the guys turned it upside down and left it to fall off the top of a pile in the truck, so I've had to repair a lot of issues before it was usable again.) One of the tension discs popped out of place - no biggie, right? Easy - push back into place. Then I notice that it's only working if I dial the tension up to 9, and I can't pull thread through with the foot up, but I can do so while it's down. While researching if this was a tension disc weirdness, as I just touched that, I found your video - BINGO! I'll be so glad when I can replace this machine with a better quality embroidery unit! Thanks again!
Thank you soooooooo much for this video! I am having the same problem I have emailed brother and everything. And the weird thing is I did exactly what you did my bobbin was messed up and took everything off to fix it and I didnt even check that part when I put it back together! This will be the first thing I do today when I get home!! I hope this is my problem so I can get started making things!!! Thank you!
The first time a wound a bobbin, I did it wrong and wound thread around the bobbin post. I don't want to take it apart, I just got my machine 3 days ago. If I leave the thread on the post, do you think it will damage anything else?
Brother SE-400. When winding bobbin the tread at top of machine some of it wound under the spool shelf with the cutting blade can you tell me how to get this fixed it is wound so tight I can’t just unwind
You could follow the steps in this video of removing the plastic cover on the right and the screws along the back until you can pull the front and back plastic covers apart slightly. Then reach in and cut the thread with an X-Acto knife or see if there's room to reach in and unwind it. When you put if pack together, be sure to follow the steps in this video.
OOPSIE got so anxious to ask my question if I would have watched further you showed my exact problem - I got the thread hopefully without breaking machine I dug in with thread cutter and pulled thread with pliers it was piece by piece but I got it out - most definitely need to be careful so this does not happen again- Thanks much for getting back to me❤️
hi I'm having the same problem but mine was behind a metal piece and mine doesn't move at all like yours does, in front or behind that piece. Do you know how to fix that? hope your still around...lol
Have the exact same machine - the thread on mine has been wearing the plastic casing, how and why I havent a clue I've not taken it apart and it's only 6 months old they retailers suggest I am threading wrong (I'm not, I've double checked and looked for other peoples videos as I started to doubt myself but it's 100% ok) I'm in the UK nad I imported my machine brand new - I'm very dissapointed Brother UK don't even want to know and the US retailers are now fobbing me off too. :( Dont want to open the thing up and void warranty but it seems warranty was a joke in the first place! Thanks for your video :)
Rachel Posey Sorry to hear that! When you raise the foot, does the threading clamp on top of the machine near the number 2 open? If yes, this is what it's supposed to do and your problem is somewhere else. Good luck finding your solution! I have read that if the thread is tangling under the fabric, then the problem is above the fabric and if the thread tangles above the fabric, then the problem is below. Maybe that will help narrow your search.

I just subscribed, thanks so much for your video.
Yes yes yes! Thank you so much!
Has anyone had an issue with the “metal flap” not moving at all?
Did you figure out a solution to this? Mine is also not moving at all
Mine isn't behind it. But it still won't pull the bottom bobbin... it's killing me
