My favorite thing about the new lance is being able to move side ways as you are poking instead of repositioning with hops after a poke. It allows for such precision! Wilds lance is the most precise lance I've ever seen. (only played world and rise before)
I love this so much. I imagine the return thrust and follow-up rush would have been really useful to close the distance after taking some of those lightning bolt attacks. The charge counter seems to be really situational given that it seems like it can only be initiated after a mid or high thrust III, at least as far as I could tell by the input prompts. It takes a while to charge up to max power as well, so I don't imagine it'll get much use unless you go out of your way to use it. Might not be as bad with the focus skill, though. It seems like perfect guards don't take chip damage, or at least take much less chip damage, so that's a huge buff to the lance's signature playstyle.
Another thing I noticed is that certain moves definitely seem like they'll favor raw over elemental and vice versa. For example, payback thrust has high raw with no special followups, while return thrust does less damage but has a multihit followup in the form of the follow up rush (or whatever it's called, but it's a quick dash attack). Charge counter will also likely be preferred in raw builds since it obviously has high motion valuesn even when you get the double thrust. It's possible that it'll have some elemental or status bossting properties, but that isn't confirmed. It'll be interesting to see how the different moves are used for different playstyles in the full game, and also how this philosophy seems to carry over to each weapon class.

I feel like they need to change how shield attack works from guard. It feels like the most pointless move on the Lance now. If it was like shield tackles/leaping thrust or shield charge I probably like it more. Other then that the Lance looks fantastic! Can’t wait to play it🪛😁🛡️

Is it me or do you not take increased chip damage in power guard like you did in world? If yes then good, regular guard does still seem to be far more useful due to the insta shield bash on perfect guards.
the only thing i'm disappointed with the lance is the wound breaking follow up, it's weird and often miss unless u're positioned correctly with the monster's body, but hey it's just a demo, things can improve
