Man, watching an experienced Lancer like you hold onto Guard like that is wild. The Payback Thrust + Sweep counter seems to flow a lot more naturally than Insta Block counters. Those new attacks like focus shield uppercut, shield charge, and triple thrust finisher really nail down the boxer vibe for Lance. Honestly, I think this seems like a pretty good balance for a playstyle between Iceborne Lance and Sunbreak Lance.

How does Shield Attack on the Lance feel? I always felt underwhelmed by it in past games. I always thought it should be like Leaping Thrust, but with our shield (More K.O. and less damage) or Shield Charge.
@@KyouOneZilla When I say Shield Attack I always talk about the manual input. Like I said it's always felt underwhelming. The Shield Counter Attack feels Fantastic.

The shield counter attack itself feels just alright for something that's literally just activated by holding down guard button. I'm more salty about them taking away counter stance, which actually requires precision timing to get the most out of it.

this person is very obviously not fully to grips with the new stuff yet, it's day 1 - the average time is closer to 10min, not 7 and will likely halve by the end of the weekend for all weaps. Lance benefits heavily from crit and crit ele and will even more in wilds due to higher hit frequency, which are not available in this demo. Finally, speedrun times are not representative of weapon efficacy. Speedrunners build very differently to casual players and theoretical DPS is only theoretical. Offensive Guard has nearly 100% uptime on lance and grants a 15% raw buff as well. the MVs got improved in rise and it's likely that was carried over here. Lance always shines more in the second half of the game with access to skills, and it plays very differently in practice in this game and people don't know it yet. It's also gotten almost no coverage compared to other weapons so people are learning as they go rather than applying analysis knowledge immediately. Give it time friend. There's so many reasons why this isn't representative.
The fuck you mean the average time lmao? People doing 6-7min are pretty much JP speedrunners glued to the monster playing perfectly. The gameplay here isn't even close to that, it's closer to a good level but nowhere near "speedrunner playing perfectly" yet he still pulls out a pretty great time overall.

the auto smack from perfect guards feels fine, the manual shield slap does not, I really wish they'd give it a combo like SnS, or a follow up thrust
