Prices range from $19,995 for the base S model up to $27,240 for the Titanium AWD model. There are 2 engine choices: the first is a 1.0 liter EcoBoost 3-cylinder and the second is a 2.0 naturally aspirated 2.0 liter 4-cylinder. The engine seen here is the 1.0 liter which makes 123 horsepower and 125 lb-ft, of torque. Fuel economy is rated at 27 MPG in the city and29 MPG on the highway.

    Great review and thank you. I am shopping these now for $19,000 Titanium. It is not a $26-29k vehicle, but at $19k plus tax, it seems to be a solid value. And yes you were spot on regarding MPGs. If you are not a lead foot, the eco boost can be way more efficient than it's EPA numbers indicate. When I ask folks how they like their Eco Sports, must are quite positive and realistic. Hyundai and Kia tempt me with many choices like the Venue and Soul, but their dealers get very low ratings in my area.

      These are now out there for $17.5 k for Titanium 1L fwd. Glad I did not buy at $19k. This is really where the price should be.

    The rear door rather than a hatch, is a no-sell for me for the simple fact that a hatch acts as a roof when putting things in, in rain or snow.

    • @Mgoblagulkablong
      @Mgoblagulkablong 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's not a growing trend anymore. It was because of NEFZ. But NEFZ got abolished this year, it got reeplaced with WLTP, so 1 litre engines don't make sense anymore. Their successors will grow in size.

    This poor car has such horrible reviews to the point of unjustified vehement hatred and I don't understand why. I have this car and I had choices. I liked it because it's a Ford and I can fix it and so can any mechanic if I'm too busy (unlike my Fiat *eye-roll*). Also, I picked up a 4cyl, 2020 Titanium 4WD with 3k miles for less than $22k! Admittedly it doesn't feel as sporty as the Mazda or the Nissan Kicks. But the ground clearance on this thing allows me to get in and out of places where others cars in its class would be scraping the bottom. I like mine even if it is the last year in the US. Great review.

    I HAVE A 2016 ECOSPORT TITANIUM A/T. BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW. ITS THE WORST VEHICLE I EVER OWNED. BEFORE YOU BUY, TRY TO GOOGLE “ECOSPORT SHUDDERING” OR “ECOSPORT LOSS OF POWER”. FROM THE VERY FIRST WEEK UP TO THIS VERY MOMENT FORD WAS NOT ABLE TO COME UP WITH A SOLUTION REGARDING THESE PROBLEMS. IMAGINE YOURE DRIVING A BRAND NEW CAR AND EVERTIME YOU ACCELERATE YOULL FEEL YOUR ENGINE SHUDDER OR WORST LOSS POWER AS IN DEAD. OH YES, THIS IS ALL TRUE. MY UNIT HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER HERE IN OUR PLACE AND EACH TIME I CHECKED IT IN, IT WILL TAKE AT LEAST 5 WORKING DAYS BECAUSE ITS NOT ONLY ME WHO HAVE THESE PROBLEMS. THIS SHUDDERING THING HAS BEEN AROUND SINCE 2014 (2013?) AND I WONDER WHY THEY STILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE THESE DEFECTIVE MODELS.

    Im considering the SE 1.0 liter edition. I live in Phoenix, AZ where our summers can be over 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Typically small engines = small A/C compressors = bad air conditioning. I owned a 2013 Chevy Spark and even rented a Fiat 500 and both cars have air conditioning that cannot handler Arizona's summers. I currently own a Ford Focus & Ford Escape with both vehicles have excellent A/C. ICE cold, BTW. Have you heard of vehicles having sub-par air conditioning? How does the Ford Ecosport A/C rate? IN Arizona A/C is VERY Important. --> DJ

    first off, is the Titanium trim even necessary in this class? To me, it just makes this car a shiney, leather-cladded turd because even w/o the leather, it is still a turd. Each one of these sub-compact CUVs I see keeps justifying why the Golf Sport Wagen is the #1 car on my list, even in base S trim...granted, I may not get 'leather' in a low-mid 20k GSW, but that is okay when I get substantially more car. Even a Mazda6 or Accord (Sport) is in this same price ball park and again, substantially more car AND they each get better mpg numbers too. Sad to say, but the HR-V w/its CVT seems better in both FWD and AWD configurations. If you're in it for the leather and the Titanium trim badge, you ar buying this car for all the wrong reasons. Also, how will this compete w/Ford's revamped Focus 'Sport' [XV Crosstrek fighter]? Sad days in the Ford camp/showroom for sure.

      The new 6 speed traditional torque converter auto is surprisingly smooth and quiet. Much nicer than most CVT's and 1000% better than fords disaster dual clutch auto. This new automatic has achieved 36+ mpg on the highway in real world driving and I expect it to improve as the vehicle gets settled in after a few thousand miles.

    Terrible fuel efficiency for a sub compact suv.

    • @glowboy5405
      @glowboy5405 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you driven one? Do you have one? I have achieved 36 mpg on a new engine with only 200 miles on it. It was 550 miles of highway driving using 87 oct non ethanol gas, 3 adults on board and AC on. Ford has been conservative on their mpg numbers after being overly generous and getting a lot of heat for it a few years ago. The secret to good fuel efficiency with the ecoboost is to not have a lead foot and not to over use the boost. Everyone needs to be reminded that this is a small engine in the smallest of its class of vehicles (3000 lbs in S trim). It serves no one to compare it to anything other than it's direct competition and in that case it is a surprisingly well made and good performing vehicle. Not for everyone but serves a need for a segment of the driving population.

      Apples and oranges. This 3 cylinder actually has achieved almost 37 mpg on the highway. You are comparing 2 completely different vehicles and power specs. The Ecosport is the smallest in it's class with a small engine that out performs many 1.4 and 1.5 liter 4 cylinders. This vehicle is for people that want or need a small vehicle that offers some utility. It works and Ford has proven it Globally for a number of years in Brazil, India and the UK. For those that don' like it, think it's ugly or want to diss it ... then … don't think about it and definitely don't get one.

      Actually, the EcoSport is better when it comes to interior and infotainment but that’s against the 2018 HRV. The 2019 HRV has been updated with a better infotainment system (though not updated to the versions you’d see in the Accord, Oddessy, Insight (2019), and Pilot) that’s on par with the Civic, Fit, CRV, etc.. so the 2019 HRV is better than the EcoSport.
