    I just bought an all black one! I absolutely love it. This was my “Credit rebuild” car and I couldn’t be happier. I plan on keeping this longer than expected.
    There’s never going to be a perfect vehicle, but for me this vehicle is much appreciated. Thumbs up 👍🏽

    I bought mine, and love it. For a single person who is retired it is perfect. Get gas mileage, easy to drive. I travel a lot and it is perfect. As for size ,I am a full figured woman and I am very comfortable drive the vehicle. Recommend it for a single person who doesn't need all the big space, or for a young family who wants a SUV but not the big sticker price it is perfect

    I’ve had one in California for almost a week and love it. It has the turbo charged 3 cylinder and we’re averaging 26.6 mpg combined. It actually does really well in elevation and along with being comfortable in traffic. It was super easy to whip into parking spots at the extremely crowded Santa Monica pier. I think this vehicle is great!

FYI, use a "full synthetic" motor oil! Change it 2×yr at least & air filter 1× per yr (dealer will tell you that u don't need to well they want sell you a new car every 5yrs). I have a 2018 EcoSport I bought used in ,2022 with a little over 18,000 miles on it, it's an SE 2.0. 4 wheel drive. It has features on it that my 2014 Escape Titinum didn't. I have a Sun roof, heated seats an steering wheel ,blind spot mirrors , back up camera. I have some cool looking 17 inch wheels I like better than my 19 inch on my Escape. I like the way it rides an handles. It keeps up with highway traffic just fine ( I have had it over 80 an sometimes faster. I like the side opening door as I have a friend that uses a walker an it's easier to load than my top opening hatch was. I like the Touch screen an navigation on it an it doesn't sound to bad either. This guy complained about the looks with the rake in the front, if he really knew anything most vehs like this sit lower in the front, that's so if you load the back heavy the car will level out so it doesn't raise the front higher an the back squat so the head lights don't shine up in the trees. He didn't say a word about the towing capacity which is really good for a car it's size. As far as looks it doesn't look that bad as most cars that size look pretty much the same style wise. I'm not 6 feet tall an I have plenty of room. So this is my experience with my EcoSport after a having it a little over a year driving it around town an highways an interstate. The only thing I don't like an it's not the car it's Ford's lack of not putting the 2.0 turbo in in it. A lack of add on accessories from the factory. An a leveling kit to give it a more rugged stance, an a lack of a trailer hitch on it. Ford kinda of treated it like a step child, they brought it over an said here take it or leave it, an unfortunately you had these so-called experts that only drive it for a certain length of time picking it apart like this guy did an he's not the only one, if they don't like it an it's not good enough for them go buy a damn Cadillac or a Mercedes. Or a car that most people can't afford, l but I'm sure they would find fault with it to. Gee I wonder if I could become a car tester?

    Me and my wife recently bought a 2018 Ecosport SES and we love it so far. Coming from her Buick Enclave and my old 1998 Chevy 2500 this car is a welcome change and adore it. I'm not sure what his talking about with it not having power but it's also a small vehicle. You can't expect a V8 or V6 when Ford is aiming for the sub compact market, it just won't happen that way. So far though, we couldn't be happier with our choice.

      I just bought an '18 SES used, and the more I drive it, the more I like it. It's the toughest, most reliable, most off-road capable vehicle in its class. Of COURSE it's not a drag car. Power is adequate, and that's all it needs.

    So I bought a black EcoSport in the SES AWD trim. I had a beautiful F150 but with the price of fuel continuing to rocket upwards, I decided to get something more fuel efficient. I love the versatility of a pickup, but I mostly used it for commuting and I just could no longer justify the occasional use of the bed when spending $170 a week on fuel. I am a Ford guy so I looked at the Escape as well. I loved the power in the Escape with the 2.4L EcoBoost, but I actually found the EcoSport easier to get in and out of (I'm 6'4") because it seemingly has more head room and the door openings seem taller. The styling on the EcoSport is kinda quirky but in the SES trim in black, I thought it looked pretty good. Mine has the 2.0L and I agree it's under-powered off the line - I wish it was an EcoBoost 2.0L. Around town I put it in to 'S' sport mode and it keeps the transmission (Select Shift with the regular torque converter - not the dreaded dual clutch Powershift) in the power-band so it's much better at zipping around without feeling completely lethargic. Putting it in 'S' also automatically turns off the engine stop/start, which is an added bonus. On the highway the EcoSport has no problem going along at 130km/h (80mph) - I was actually quite impressed with it's eagerness to get down the road. Passing isn't quite as impressive but it's still not too bad. The handling is decent but around town driving can be a little rough in SES trim with the sport tuned suspension and 17" wheels. The dampers feel a bit too stiff and yet there is quite a bit of roll when turning so I almost feel like the EcoSport SES should have softer damper settings and stiffer springs. The storage is decent but I wouldn't recommend it for a young family with more than one child. The rear seat cushions flip up and then the backs fold down, creating a ton more room. It's been good this week as I've been doing a lot of landscaping around the house. I think the EcoSport is ideal for a single person or couple without children. I drive this thing probably harder than most would and I'm getting 9.0L/100km (26mpg), combined. I find it fun to drive for what it is (it's so light and agile) and would definitely recommend it to a single person, young couple starting out or empty nesters.

      Armen Drives I liked your review on the EcoSport. I am considering one for my next vehicle and I have a significant other but he doesn’t ride with me often and if he does I’m sure the EcoSport would be okay. I do travel a lot and drive a lot. I do want the upgraded engine. Not really into the AWD but it’s whatever.

      I would HIGHLY recommend getting the K&N air filter that recently came out. It completely changed how this car drives. Much peppier. it almost seems like the stock filter was choking the vehicle. I also have an SES. I really quite like it now that I swapped that filter out, haha.

    Had one of these for over 3 years now (1 liter 3 cylinders 123 HP) and has been one of the nicest cars we owned. Opening the tailgate of the Ecosport has been another plus for us (since my wife and I differ in length a lot) OK, you cab get a car where the tailgate opens automatically, but you pay dearly for it. All the buttons and storage are simple and easy to use / access. For a country like the Netherlands, where the two of us live, it's a great car. Not too big and yet big enough to be comfortable. All wheel drive is not necessary in the Netherlands, nor is a bigger engine. It's shame they stopped making them, so now we'll have to look for another car with similar features for our next purchase.

    I just bought a used 2018 Eco Sport ES 4 wheel drive. I had a 2014 Escape titanium I traded in on it. The newer touch screen is much better than the old Sony system in my older Escape. I also have a sun roof that I didn't have in my Escape ( an when new listed for a little over $32,000 ). I have heated cloth seats in my new to me Eco Sport, an a heated steering wheel which was not on my Escape. The dash is basically the same. As far as the back seat I'm about 5'7'' an my son is 6' an I have enough room behind the seat when he scoots it back. Granted the back space is not as large as the escape was but I don't load the back up with all kinds of junk either. The way the hatch opens is different but I like it as you don't have to bend over to load the back an if you stand up quickly your less likely to hit your head on the hatch. I think they car looks good ( really if you seen one small cross over it's hard to tell the difference between them). As for power, I have the 2.0 non turbo, same engine as in my Escape but it had the turboi can tell a little difference in the power, but for me an my age I don't need a bottle rocket to get by. ( For your info it had a little over 18,000 miles ) on it. I was pleased with my Escape but wanted something newer an I liked the Echo Sport. It doesn't have the self up an down passenger window my Escape had ( no big deal ), I do have remote start as did my Escape an touch button start, an keyless entry which is nice an I can lock it without using the remote. I have the ambient lighting as did my Escape an I can use the touch screen to change which I couldn't do with my Escape an it shows the colors you change to. This is different, on my sun visors I have mirrors the light isn't on the visor it's a light on the top with a on off switch, both visors. In other words it has about everything I want or need as I also have the blind spot warning on the side view mirrors ( my Escape didn't have that it had spot mirrors ) odd for a car that listed for 32,000 new ) oh well. The only thing I don't like is the stop start, the good thing is I can turn it off. The only thing I can't figure is why Ford didn't put the turn on the 2.0 can't figure that out. It's like any other car you can find fault with any car.

    It should have gotten the 1.5L 3 cylinder turbo found in the Escape and the Bronco Sport. But, they were still making the 2.0 Duratec, and if the EcoSport had the same engine as the bigger cars, it would have been faster and gotten better mileage, since it's a little (and I mean just a little) lighter. You won't find any aluminum parts underneath. It's heavy for its size, and the 2.0 Duratec, while tough and reliable, never got spectacular mileage in the Mazdas and Fords (and Volvos) it was used in.
    If you get one and want to keep it, change your oil with good synthetic every 5000 miles. Change your transmission fluid every 30,000, along with the oil in the transfer case and rear differential, if it's 4wd. Keep the underbody clean, if you live in a winter-salt zone. It will rust if you don't.
    You only get paddle shifters on the '18 SES. Not '19 or later, and no other models in NA. Not important, but a note.

    • @jotch4113
      @jotch4113 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @bongodave13
      @bongodave13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jotch4113 You're welcome. Ford will tell you that 10,000 miles is good enough with semi-synthetic oil, but if you want to keep it for a long time, 5,000 with full synthetic is the way to go. Any mechanic would agree.
      Ford built this car with a "lifetime" transmission/drivetrain. It will do 100,000 miles with no fluid changes, other than engine oil. If you change the fluids regularly, because you intend to keep it, 300,000 is a real possibility. Maybe even more. The Duratec doesn't make much power, or get great mileage, but it's a reliable powerplant.

A little underpowered but livable, just use sport shift selection when needed, a bit overpriced, it’s a shame that car reviewers were so negative on it, and now it’s gone from the US market. My wife is a nurse that works in the community has a Ford c max she drives all day one tank lasts 2 weeks yea its a hybrid 188 hp this thing is really quick.The problem is its ground clearance my wife has cleaned off the bottom cover and curbed the front bumper on those curb stops in parking spots. Have re fitted the lower bumper too many times to count with new clips. Its like telling a monkey not to eat bananas.My point is the ecosport looked like a fix but she loves the hybrid idea holy crap Ford is coming out with a hybrid escape yea we had a 04 at one time looks like I am going to relax and sell all of those extra clips on e bay.

    What a fantastic review! After driving one, I feel the same way. Fun little vehicle but lacks refinement, MPG is not where it should be, it's underpowered and at high trim levels, is WAY overpriced! So we just bought a used 2018 Ford ecosport titanium trim & we have metromile insurance which has the obd2 attachment because this car insurance company charges per mile. It breaks down trips so we know what we've spent too. My gf drives it to work and with our 2012 Mercedes c250 which had a 2 liter 4 cylinder turbo engine it would be $3.82 USD for the one way 34.4 mile trip. With the ecosport, its $10.56 USD @ 11.1 mpg! We live in Southern California & I believe we can mount a class action lawsuit against Ford motor company for lying about their numbers the way VW lied about emissions in their cars

      I just bought the SES, 2018 new, fully loaded, for about $21,000. I've gone from an Escape to an Edge to the EcoSport. At the moment, the main issue is the TINY cargo space! I mostly use the cargo space for groceries, and I buy some things in bulk which stay in the car till I need them (TP, Paper Towels, Crackers...) I also keep a small cooler inside. So, the tiny cargo hold will probably be my major issue. I am the only one usually in the car, and bought it for the price and the (hopefully) better gas mileage than the Edge.

    Underpowered? Not really.
    It's quicker than a Porsche 912, much quicker than a MGB, and quicker than a 240Z; all legendary sports cars.
    We need some true perspective here. It has the Mazda L/Ford 2 liter with direct injection and 166HP That is a tonne of HP for a 2 litre with no turbo - a race tune actually. It would be better if the engineers had focused on the low and midrange torque output and down rated it to 145 hp, seeing it is connected to a Torque converter automatic. The autobox has very short gears to get it off the line: 3000 rpm come in first at 15 mph and second is only a 1/2 step away from that. The car has personality that many cars lack nowadays; could it be the VW Bug or Subaru Forester for the 21st century? - Sandy

      I agree the MSRP is kind of ridiculous when it lags the competition in several ways (acceleration, fuel economy, safety features), but nobody is paying MSRP on these, they are HEAVILY discounted. Ford currently has a $6k rebate on the 2020 EcoSport and dealers are offering additional hefty discounts (I know because I just bought one for about $10k *below* MSRP). I used cargurus to price shop dealer listings and the discounts on the EcoSport are just so much better than anything else in this segment that has AWD (Hyundai Kona, Mazda CX-3/CX-30, Honda HR-V, Jeep Renegade).

Shame actually as we have purchased exclusively Fords since 1995 with the exception of a Mercury Marauder which is pretty much still a Ford. Even the Ranger costing as much as my 2010 F150 4-door 4x4 is a disappointment with its faux V8 growl that is piped through the speaker system on acceleration...

    I'm a Ford fan . Not many turkeys in their history . But the sideways opening back door (how does that work when you're close back-parked) , and the consistently poor handling reviews, seem to suggest this is a poor stop-gap before the Blue Oval comes up with something a lot better.

    • @glowboy5405
      @glowboy5405 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The side opening rear door is not really an issue, if you pull straight into a parking slot … mall, theater, grocery store etc. which is where most people will be parking this type of vehicle. Curbside parking … just be aware. Rav4 had this configuration for over a decade as does the Jeep Liberty, Mini Cooper and others. Many people feel access is easier due to their height or other physical limitations that make a liftgate impractical. It's good to have a choice. It would be nice to have a split tailgate / hatch that Ford used on their full size station wagons years ago.
      Recently drove one with 3 adults, and AC on for over 500 miles. Achieved 36+ mpg (no ethanol 87 oct) with the 1 liter Ecoboost. Handling was quite good for a tall profile, very pleasant to drive. Don't believe everything you read or even hear.

    2020 Opinion: Traded my wife's 2010 Kia Soul for a 2020 ECOSPORT SE 4WD.. I am 6'4".. better room.. 5 times better ride... The steering better.. seats are better than my 2020 F150 Supercrew. STX. I have ZERO ISSUE WITH ROOM IN EITHER DRIVER OR FRONT PASSENGER SEAT..... Now Mind you my F150 has 335HP so the 2.0. L 166HP is OK.. I use to hate the ride in the KIA.. this car is way better for me to drive and ride... The car on the highway is super quiet... REALLY.. Not sure why the Whiner😭in the video is so negative.. must be a soy boy.. He needs to compare actual vehicles in the class... The car could use more power but we do not beat on our cars to it has plenty for adult an driver . It is selling well in Cleveland since we see a lot of them.. Could it be the replacement of the KIA Soul in popularity in our neck of the woods?

    i 100% agree that the engine absolutely sucks... i mean i am a 19 year old and before i got this car i was driving my mothers lincoln mkz.. and well you can guess why this car is extremely underwhelming for me. it drives so rough, when you press on the gas (no matter how much weight is in the car) it seems like it doesn't want to move, its loud (not in the good way), if its windy out and you drive over 50 mph it shakes and feels like its going to topple over, doesn't feel safe or heavy what so ever, overall if you've gotten into any type of car with a higher tier engine DO NOT get this car! go with an escape or even an edge! cant wait to turn it back in and I'm so happy the lease will be up in 2 years and i can pick something with a little more oomf LOL

    $27,000 for a Ford Fiesta based car? That's mid-size/large size sedan territory.
    Get a Hyundai Tucson.
    Even though EcoSport and Tucson are in the same price range, the Tucson is much bigger car, so it's a bit an unfair size wise. The EcoSport should compete with the Kia Stonic, if it comes to America, as the Stonic is based off a compact car platform from the Rio, exactly what Ford did to the EcoSport.
