Before his death, Alexander had made a special request to be called the "Son of Zeus Ammon" and didn't want to be buried alongside his father Philip in Aegae.
Historical accounts from the early days tell us that when Alexander passed away suddenly in Babylon in 323 BC, his body was mummified, similar to the Pharaohs, and placed in a gold coffin, with the intention of transporting it to Siwa.
However, his request wasn't respected. The funeral procession carrying Alexander's body was intercepted in Syria by one of his generals, Ptolemy I Soter.

I challenge the glow of heroism surrounding Alexander. He was brutal in his conquests, left little behind that bettered the lot of local peoples, and pursued a course of self-glorification rivaled only by Julius Caesar, Ghengis Khan, Tamerlane, Napoleon, Mussolini, Hitler and Vladimir Putin. What's to admire?

To my knowledge, Philip the Second is buried in Macedonia and had his tomb excavated many years ago? I attended a Lecture from some of the excavators in Cph. where we have, I think the only known Sculpture of his head, for comparison, in the Glyptoteket Collection. Established by the originator of the modern , and also the reason why you are able to buy a "decent beer", from his Donated Patent for Clean Yeast. This Patent was made during works in the Brewery's Laboratories in Copenhagen and donated without payment, to all other Breweries.

No . Alexander was defeated by King Porus . He lost lots of his men during the first engagement with Porus . He realised the it's not in his destiny to conquer India . The defeat of Alexander is clear in the ancient artefacts. I have a big admiration to a great Alexander though .
