    strings stay in tune relative to each other on the Stetsbar so you can bend chords. Ive always solved the string wrap issue (on Kahlers, etc.) by soldering the string wraps before installing a new set. No more breaking.

      I used to "solder" the wraps, with epoxy, AFTER installation/tuning....

    Try Ernie Ball RPS reinforced ball end plain strings if you have the problem that you mentioned. They really work and are fine all around strings. I love the Stetsbar that I have on my Firebird. At first I had some minor issues but I called Eric and he actually sent me some string lubricant and told me the best way to string the guitar for this application and it worked fine. Great guy. That Dusenburg trem looks and sounds fantastic and for that price and with self installation it's a low risk investment.

    That issue with the high E string looks like a part of that bridge got sharped and has been cutting the strings.

    I put a dusenburg on a les paul I have. I also installed a roller bridge at the same time and was pleasantly surprised. works and holds tune good. quality. I'm leaving it on the guitar

    The first string e string needs to be threaded around through the hole in the "ball" end spool. This completely, absolutely ended the previously instant and ongoing string break problems. Also, balancing the spring/screw adjustments needs patient refinements to maximize the range of pitch. Allow 20 minutes of experimentation for any changes in string type. I go over a year on string changes, but do find I need to regularly use the full range of the arm as well as ensure every time I make a major excursion with the arm to "center" it on purpose. Still, it behaves massively better than a standard strat or Rose whammy.

      A thing I like to do is solder my High E, B, and G strings at the ball end windings, when putting on a new set, it stops them unwinding & going out of tune and cures the problem you are talking about with that stetsbar trem system

    What about a string Butler To help with friction reduction? I've just bought a stetsbar secondhand am o going to regret it now? After seeing they string problem I think I might

      String Butler and standard lubrication will solve the nut binding issue. An upgrade to a Zero Fret will also help, but it's not necessary.
      All other problems mentioned are mostly just him not being compatible with the design. It's more for use like a Strat Trem, where it's not used as rough as say a Floyd Rose, but can be used considerably rougher than a Bigsby. Sure, it can be, but it pretty much has the same faults as a standard strat trem.
      As far as the string breaking issue, a lot of the comments will show that it can easily be fixed.

    why did you change trems in the first place if you liked the first one? I'm trying to decide between these two.

    • @rcboals
      @rcboals 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Stetsbar is bulky and huge. I love my Duesenberg Les Trem II crazy stupid simple. I have purchased two of them. Link below for my quick review. The binding issue at the nut is a common problem for all Bigsby type trems. If you have a competant luthier and you have the binding problem it can be cured. The key word here is competant luthier. Here is my youtube short review. th-cam.com/video/zMu5nUYiX4w/w-d-xo.html

      Augustus DeVandry - I finally got around to making a quick review video for all four. I ended up just using the FRX on my SG and a Bigsy on my Les Paul

    Did u ever get the FRX? I’m actually wanting to change my FRX to the STETSBAR BUT I HAVE AN OVERSIZED SG CUSTOM MAYBE THATS WHY ITS A LITTLE WIRED FOR ME I’m having major nit issue with my FRX NUT STICKING AND CLAMP BREAKS

    • @gibsonrobb
      @gibsonrobb  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I got the FRX and absolutely love it. You’re going to have to use different screws for the headstock since the ones it comes with are too long.

      Rawbert Gonzales I actually just got the schaller-4201 retro fit tremolo similar to a standard tune- o - matic but all in one with no clamping strings it’s a compact tuneomatic bridge in one tremolo hope it works out no that much info on it but what there is it sounds and looks good give that a try thanks for the response in the mail but hoping for the best !

  • @Snakefinger1000
    @Snakefinger1000 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Even with the Duesenberg, you have to cut off a tiny piece of the Bats Wing pickguard.

  • @evanposteraro5094
    @evanposteraro5094 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Get a zeroglide nut and solve that tuning stability issue after using the whammy. You should also replace the bridge piece with one that has roller saddles cause those knife edges are cutting with metal to metal friction which I’m sure plays a role in why your strings don’t last too long before breaking. Hope this helps ya

    • @jubjub905
      @jubjub905 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Evan Posteraro theyre unwinding at the ball end so the saddles dont make much sense along with the fact that the saddles move with the bridge so you arent scraping over the saddles

    • @gibsonrobb
      @gibsonrobb  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the tip. I ended up getting rid of it and getting a FRX instead.

      @@jubjub905 I feed the string through its own "donut" hole for twice high e and b = breaking problems gone.
      Also: roller bridge.

    • @jubjub905
      @jubjub905 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rabo Karabekian normally though you can get away fine without a roller bridge though, plus it just doesnt sound as good.

    There's this new floating locking nut and that would have fixed your problem it's it's on the headstock side of your nut and works like a charm there's a lot of videos all right look it up you didn't have to get rid of that trem2 begun with my friend

    Asuming your playing every day you shouldn't leave strings on for that long any way. Two weeks max. If I'm practicing two hours plus a say they get changed ever week.

  • @Bflatest

    you should change your strings every two weeks AT THE LEAST

    • @lord_gillespie
      @lord_gillespie 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It's actually 4 - 6 weeks for average everyday use. Anything less and you're wasting money; anything more and the strings won't stay properly tuned. That's what 30 years experience tells you.

    • @garycrant4511
      @garycrant4511 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      yeah right.. I own too many guitars,
      and even 10 year old strings still sound and play good enough on non gigging guitars...

    • @andischmidt3334
      @andischmidt3334 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      depends on what tone you want to achieve.. i change the strings on the strats every 2 to 3 weeks because they lose the sparkle i need!

    • @jubjub905
      @jubjub905 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed, you’ll notice way better performance as well.

    • @rcerro404
      @rcerro404 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have had my strings on for 1 year, wiped down completely after each use and they are fine. If I'm recording, I change them. No need to spend money if they are doing what you need them to do. Sometimes i don't need them to be as bright as the day I got them. If they are just tweeked and don't stay in tune (even when well wrapped) then that is the time to change.
