    Yes she was nervous when he said she was invited to dinner - remember this was the early 40/50's era and it was not acceptable until about the mid sixties and seventies to have what they dubbed "mixed company" Corena was unusual for a Maid because she was highly educated. /// I agree they learn the meanness and disrespect from home and OFTEN from tv shows. We used to have monitoring of the TV shows so they were not exposing so much to kids.

    I love this movie it's one of my favorites Whoopi was good this but I really liked Ray Liotta. I feel like Ray should have gotten more of these kind of roles romantic leading parts, but people kind of stereotype them into the bad guy and crazy people because he played Crazy bad people so well, and even though he was extremely handsome he just got typecasted as the bad guy but I wish she done more movies like this. Rest in peace to this handsome great actor. Last but not least the little girl actress Tina was really adorable and she was good in this movie also.

    I don't comment much but wow! Thank you for this! I haven't thought of this movie for so long! My dad died when I was 9 years old and this movie gave me so much comfort. I even used to do the "blow the light" thing a lot! I need to go watch again! I agree that he has the right to tell Corrina not to tell Molly her mom is in heaven when he doesn't believe that and wants to raise his child as an atheist. If Molly chooses to be another religion later in life, she can. But I just didn't like that part where she said she'll just keep telling Molly her mom is in the bath tub, cause that's not the same thing as her overhearing her saying it to two delivery men. Atheists explain death to children too, not just Christians, etc. He could have told her there are no angels but in a gentler way. I'm not sure what I would say, but it's not wrong for him to raise her in his own religion.

    • @ScenecrlyK.S.O.
      @ScenecrlyK.S.O.  ปีที่แล้ว +10

      He could have... but he did not, so Corrina did. Both gave Molly options and as we can see she leaned towards the option that made her happier. She chose.

    • @Stardust_7273
      @Stardust_7273 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ScenecrlyK.S.O. she is what, seven? Of course she would lean towards what would make her think that her mother could see her, or be close by. One grown-up she loves telling her one thing, and another that she is coming to love telling her something totally different, it’s just sending mixed messages. That’s something that really confuses kids. It made her happy to skip school and hang out with Corrina as well. Should Corrina have kept her out of school? Of course not. Corrina was wrong to keep referring to angels after Manny asked her not to talk about Christian beliefs as fact because he is raising his daughter as an atheist. Her reply was humorous for a movie, but disrespectful and inappropriate.
      I suspect if Manny was Christian and asked Corrina not to talk to Molly about atheist beliefs as fact, there would be an upraise about how Corrina was corrupting this poor little cherub.

    • @bandaqueenlove9134
      @bandaqueenlove9134 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Stardust_7273 I agree that Molly was given both options and she just leaned towards what Corrina told her. Also, the scene where Manny said that people just believe in heaven and angels because it makes them less sad Molly asked what was wrong with that. So, for Molly, she isn't necessarily seeing Corrina's POV from a very religious/Christian perspective rather she accepts that belief because it simply makes her less sad. On the flip side, Molly took Manny's perspective that her mom was in the bathtub literally and that made her sad when she realized she wasn't there. Of course, everyone's beliefs should be respected and explaining death to a child can be hard, but I think Manny's approach wasn't the best and throughout the movie it was mainly Corrina having to explain death to Molly while Manny was more hesitant about having to do so because he was facing grief of his own

    • @Stardust_7273
      @Stardust_7273 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bandaqueenlove9134 I agree that Molly is just taking the option that makes her less sad atm, because she’s just a child. I just think that Corrina should have been more respectful when Manny asked her not to keep telling his daughter things he didn’t agree with. She is his daughter in the end, and he has that right.

  • @jeanb.5405
    @jeanb.5405 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    All kinds of controversial things going on in this movie - white against black, black against white, Atheist against Christian ideals, there is some subtle have and have nots prejudices, no matter what age you live in there seems to be this sickness in people's hearts that they need to control or have opinion about what others do who they love and so on.... very sad.
