lovewhen the trailer zooms out of the moon's spiral in the beginning of the trailer, notice the planet goes from blue to red. Attention to detail and gives you a sense of scale by contrasting the shades of the planet and how big the space is also love you pointed out WHY her hair is being shaved because the picture on her bulletin board shows her happy and with her crew and she has her hair. maybe she is trying to move on from that past, maybe someone wronged her, or something to do with the scars (maybe she doesnt mind SHOWING her scars). its not as simple as "oh shes bald" and people wanna be up in arms about it lol
This looks so incredibly aesthetically pleasing. The 80’s anime cyberpunk vibe is so delicious to me. All of the important character details in that one scene was beautiful. I like Jordan. She’s cool and I think I will care about the reasons she is willing to put herself in danger like she is. Putting on the Pet Shop Boys was a nice touch, too. I wonder where the scars came from. I wonder what happened to the aces.
Good video. Notice also the writing on the robots armor is the same as the text in the beginning. She also has tattoos on the back of her arms of those anime characters. Possibly having something to do with her. Black man and Asian woman. Blade runner had product placement, so they are also copying that to a certain degree. You also see 5 chess pawns with a few on their side. Indicates that she has already taken out some of the other five aces. She also has a queen chess piece tattooed on her. Some of these analysis are from the kingthrash TH-cam channel. The actress is attractive. She’s been in Uncharted and the Sabrina show on Netflix. You take any attractive woman , no makeup and shaved head. She’s going to go down a few notches. This game will be huge. No matter how much those anti woke guys whine and cry. All the gaming channels I watch are so tired of it.
Naughty Dog's characters got so realistic now that calling one of them "badly design" makes no sense, it's like seeing a human being on the street and calling them poorly designed ??? They are making human characters that look and feel human. Most of the criticism is just anti-woke dudebros that hate seeing powerful women that aren't made for their enjoyment.
Great analysis. On rewatches of this trailer, I picked up on similar aspects of the character. It actually makes me even more hopeful about the game. Because the trailer is already aesthetically drowning in references and homages, I was a little underwhelmed that the character itself looked to be fitting just a prototypical badass bounty hunter archetype, but I think there is a lot more going on to her and the story than just that. I adore Naughty Dog games and feel they have some of the best writing in the industry, so I was thirsting for a little bit more of their own unique twist on such familiar Sci-Fi stuff. Some of the hints that this new persona we're seeing may be a bit of a change in character makes me even more interested in that shift of who this character was before this moment and how that'll make the story even richer.
Someone actually using their brain while watching the trailer. Fuckin REFRESHING🤣🧡 Looks phenomenal as always with Naughty Dog. Can't wait to find out more.
to me feels like they just copied one of the most cool and interesting pieces of media of the century just to get view. the character sounds like a rugged wanna be cowboy bebop but lives in a luxury ship(porche) and ends up being very cringe.
The mirror at the beginning could be representative of her inner self reflection which is a common thing especially in sci-fi. Also, I wonder what the relationship between two characters is? Jordan def seems colder than the bounty broker who seems more tender.
The design of the interior of the ship has big Syd Mead vibes (white panels with rounded edges, big square buttons, geometric shapes, primary colors, etc) It reinforces that late 70's to early 90's sci-fi style (2001, Alien, Blade runner...)
yes bro. finally. its not a beauty pageant . Im a character artist , and very rarely does "attractiveness" play a part in the actual design. Interest, balance, intruige. Sexy is like a cheap win. I genuinely find this charcter design more interesting! To me, this had it all. Awesome unbiased take, first person ive seen focus on the actual story points. Nice bro!
AMAZING analysis! ❤ Thank you so much for picking up on soooo many things that most gamer channels are just straight-up ignoring because all they can focus on is the character being bald and thinking its a "PoLiTiCaL mEsSaGe!" You got a great eye for detail, my friend 🙂 P.S She had a character from the anime as a tattoo on her arm as well. 💪
The game looks so amazing and they really haven’t shown much. I’m pretty sure this will be out in 2026 and not next year, sadly. Going to be a crazy wait. And now, this means The Last of Us 3 graphics will be so damn good since it’ll probably be a PS6 game.
Im really glad ND is doing more with their art I like Uncharted and TLOU, but theyre really grounded. Uncharted does have some excellent location design, and none of the games look "bad", but its very "yeah". Its what i expect alot of the time, or familiar. Uncharted especially, despite being able to have fictional ancient temples and set pieces.. its not new. Its just building on what Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider were doing. This is visually more interesting, and honestly kind of close to Jak and Daxter, specifically Jak 2. The bold vibrant colours against grey/black/muted colours. The way the moon and planet looked, the ship design is this very angular manga style, the weapon and tech having a bright red glow as opposed to what we would usually see as blue or white, the enemy design especially feels like it couldve come from Jak 2. Its not as far as i wish they took it, but its definitely closer to where i would want it.
Yes!! I noticed this too. This is their first attempt at true fantasy since Jak and Daxter, which will always be my favorite series ever. The studio has of course vastly changed since, but I'd love to see the inspirations they may take from those games.
Im a sucker for music and the music beat is what got me to look at the teaser. I heard the music from the other room and came running. As far as what's in the teaser; it looks intriguing. She's got a search board and she is willing to put her life in danger to find someone. Did they betray her or do they have something she needs? I want to know. My media world revolves around anime and manga so the aesthetics are pleasing, but I'm not high maintenance when it comes to things like that. I hope the story is rich. I'll probably play for that along with the music. NIN is one my favorite bands. Looks great so far. Going on my list.
Shaving head can be a military standard, a religious order or a new beginning. I remember when Britney caused so much controversy when she had her head shaved.
I really love the vibe of this game. I love the music. I love that it's inspired by Akira and Cowboy Beebop. I will admit that I dont particularly like the look of the protagonist, but it's not enough to turn me off the game entirely, and I definitely think I'll be playing this game once it gets released.
After two series that focused on more realistic action (Uncharted and the Last of Us) it's exciting to see Naughty Dog tackle more character action/ sci-fi combat. Thanks for a more positive take, btw.
Haven’t started watching the video yet, but as someone who definitely hates when characters are particularly unattractive for no reason etc I see no issue with anything shown character wise. Sure her appearance does not appeal to me but it doesn’t offend me either. The character didn’t come off as unlikable like most characters now days that are both unlikeable AND un attractive. Likability matters the most, as long as she isn’t an arrogant snarky asshole its fine. She just comes off as no bs knows what she wants and acts accordingly without being offensive for no reason.
I'm so excited for this game but I'm almost afraid to tell that to people. I just want a fun game. I'm not with the woke or anti-woke people. They're both equally nuts.
Its not about the hair, its about the face. This is not an isolated incident, this is the latest in a long line of altering the faces of women in games. Go look at the human model for this character thats all you need to see.
It looks like the guy she's after screwed her and the other people in the photo over. Maybe Jordan and him are the only two to survive. The enemy they show looks like it would fit in the Jak and Daxter universe.
For me the way she is written and her personality is annoying. Clearly her agent cares about her and her wellbeing but she treats her like trash and doesn't even acknowledge that, which makes her come of as entitled and a brat. I will admit that we know very little about this challenge so maybe her personality is ultimately likeable and I'm about to get on board with her motivation and why she's doing what she's doing. For right now, the Naughty Dog name is doing a lot of heavy lifting.
I’m sure Concord was a shitty ah game, but this trailer other than the character looking woke it looks promising. I think we should wait to see if the game sucks or not when its out rather than judging so much for a short teaser
“I do not care about how the character looks, but how he behaves in the frame, his emotions, facial expressions, intonation, motivation, what drives him” bro says so obvious things that in today's time for many will be a revelation, thank you!
I just wanna say I just do not vibe with the urban streetwear aesthetic for space sci fi (great for urban sci fi) the Puffy jacket feels so contemporary that it makes the entire outfit feel so uninteresting, it doesn't draw my attention. Especially the pants The look with the undershirt where I can see her tattoos whic is immediatly 100 times more attention grabbing to me than her Knight-symbol jacket-. There is such a saturation of character designs like this on the market that giving her no face at all would make her stand out more than beeing any person Everyone has seen Akira, character designs inspired by Akira are a dime a dozen. Which fucking sucks because I love South-East Asian representation in my media. We need more of that and having it in a big ticket game like this is so fucking big. So her outfit beeing run of the mill and nothing about the design grabbing my attention just makes me not want to play the game, she doesn't have the IT factor that a company like Naughty Dog usually manages to put out Like there is the 80s pleather colourful jacket She has a little pouch on her back and those light-up sneakers but unless the sneakers literally have like movement trails that are integral to the combat system I don't think there is anything interesting that is going to be going on Her sword is a rectangle for crying out loud I could get a similar gameplay experience and character look in a hundred indie games for an 8th of the price and that's not the takeaway I want from this The game problably has cosmetics and outfits, but this is their foot forward on this, the big thing to make me want to play their game so it is a shame it looks so... welll... unoriginal?
"Arrogant, angsty young hotshot driven by revenge" is pretty high up on my list of least-liked character tropes. Corpo-MurderLady seemed pretty cool, though... I'd be more interested in a game about her, frankly.
If a human shaves her head on Earth it does mean something, but in space with millions of alien races with different appearances it doesn't make sense, or I should say it doesn't matter.
Why wouldn't it matter? You think people are going to abandon style and fashion just because they're coexisting with aliens? Balding your head was never dependent on how many aliens there are. Changing your hair as a way to start fresh or distance yourself from who you used to be is pretty common and makes sense. Also, how do you know there are millions of alien races in this game? Let alone thousands, or hundreds, or tens?
@@ectogamutIf Neil Druckmann was truly a good dev he would leave Naughty Dog and make his own studio. But he knows his games will fail without Naughty Dog’s facade and fanbase so he stays at the company and secretly uses the facade for his agenda.
To me the look of the character, her atitude (her facial expressions while drinking form that cup looking a the screen) and the obvious shaving her head is what turns me off about her. I think if the protagonist looked like the cartoon girl it would be way better. To me it this trailer send me the same bad vibe as so many moives and games that has totaly missunderstand what a great female character should be. Games have so many "great" "strong" "independent" "charismatic" and most of all likeable females, why did that have to change to this. Why does people question the fact that me and other gamers like a totaly diffrent kind of character. And why does dev teams persist on doing this modern woman that most of us don't like. Let me give you all a list of the great female characters that I have played and enjoyed over ther years. Tifa (FFVII), Aerith (FFVII), Yuna (FFX), Lara Croft (Tomb Raider), Aloy (Horizon), Zelda (BOTW and TOTK), Samus (Metroid), Ellie (TLOU1), Elena Fisher (Uncharted), Chole Frazer (Uncharted). This is the list I can write on top of my head and I bet other gamers can name many more like them. Compare any of the wimen mentioned above to what we are shown in this trailer. How they act, how they look, how they make us feel. Thats it the kind of female characters I like and its why this trailer fail so hard for me. That is why this trailer fail so hard for a majority of gamers thats why this trailer have more downvotes than upvotes. That is why Naughty dog decided to turn off comments on there video while Sonys channle did not. They know what they are doing and that pisses me off even more. This comment is not me telling anyone to disslike this game. It's just my reason for not liking it and Im not the only one.
So based off a character design?? Not the entire game??? You know, open world design, gameplay, graphics, story.🤦🏽♂️ lol Smfh and don't worry, it's a day one buy!
For me that's exactly what attracted me to her look and attitude. The way she drank with that attitude was cool. It's just so interesting, everything that I saw on that trailer. I don't like the eye-patched boss lady on the screens though. Also the product placement throughout kinda made the game less original.
@GfoxSim The product thing is probably a sign of this to come lol, since Playstation consoles are soo popular around the world, they probably went to Sony to put said product in the game, of course for a fee lol I have no problem with it if done right. 🤷🏽♂️
This looks really good but with Neil Druckman as Creative Director I have my worries. After all the greats left the studio and he became in charge he has only hired Yes Men, Women and Non Binary probably. Bruce Straley said no to a lot of his dumb ideas in Last of Us 1 and had less power in Uncharted 4 to veto his ideas hence Nadine. Her Look i honestly like. I get reminded of characters from Aliens. Like if Rhea Ripley was the body model then no one would be hating as we can see in real life "Oh shes a muscle mommy" instead of Druckmann taking his fetish as it seems to the haters by making smaller women IRL big in video games and ugly sticking beautiful women. I haven't seen another Studio Head like Druckmann also stay Directing Video Games. NaughtyDog was my favorite video game studio because of Amy Hennig and ever since she left its gone down hill in tone and quality in my opinion. I can not WAIT for her Captain America and Black Panther game.
Yeah nice but we need to move on from the 80's looks. Its over time to move to the 90's. Which we have seen in this trailer from the CDs to the original flat screen.
Ehhh. The character looks so super realistic and detail and bald, it looks not appealing to me. The same happened with the art direction of the Last of Us 2.

I just can't wait for this game to be released and get people playing it over and over again. I really can't. This game will NEVER be a failure.
A lot of minds will change. I noticed this with the PS5 Pro. Many people were negative about it but now some of those people own it.
Cowboy bebop was the first thing I felt when this trailer started. I'm digging the vibes of this and I can't wait to hear more about this game man
Fuckin REFRESHING🤣🧡
Looks phenomenal as always with Naughty Dog.
I'm happy you are so innocent and happy with this. I genuinely hope you enjoy it. I like that you're not attacking people who aren't liking it. 👌
The design of the interior of the ship has big Syd Mead vibes (white panels with rounded edges, big square buttons, geometric shapes, primary colors, etc)
It reinforces that late 70's to early 90's sci-fi style (2001, Alien, Blade runner...)
yes bro. finally. its not a beauty pageant .
❤ Thank you so much for picking up on soooo many things that most gamer channels are just straight-up ignoring because all they can focus on is the character being bald and thinking its a "PoLiTiCaL mEsSaGe!"
You got a great eye for detail, my friend 🙂
P.S She had a character from the anime as a tattoo on her arm as well. 💪
The game looks so amazing and they really haven’t shown much. I’m pretty sure this will be out in 2026 and not next year, sadly. Going to be a crazy wait. And now, this means The Last of Us 3 graphics will be so damn good since it’ll probably be a PS6 game.
Intergalatic also gives me the Alien vibe as well.
Im really glad ND is doing more with their art
I like Uncharted and TLOU, but theyre really grounded.
Thank you! No hate! Perfect analysis! 💪🏻
This goes in my Strange Games Playlist on TH-cam lol
I'm so excited for this game but I'm almost afraid to tell that to people. I just want a fun game. I'm not with the woke or anti-woke people. They're both equally nuts.
Its not about the hair, its about the face. This is not an isolated incident, this is the latest in a long line of altering the faces of women in games. Go look at the human model for this character thats all you need to see.
It looks like the guy she's after screwed her and the other people in the photo over. Maybe Jordan and him are the only two to survive. The enemy they show looks like it would fit in the Jak and Daxter universe.
Wait, she has scars on her head?
*Bingo.* Subbed.
I don’t think that’s her in the picture, I think that was her parents
I just wanna say I just do not vibe with the urban streetwear aesthetic for space sci fi (great for urban sci fi)
the Puffy jacket feels so contemporary that it makes the entire outfit feel so uninteresting, it doesn't draw my attention.
Especially the pants
The look with the undershirt where I can see her tattoos whic is immediatly 100 times more attention grabbing to me than her Knight-symbol jacket-.
There is such a saturation of character designs like this on the market that giving her no face at all would make her stand out more than beeing any person
Everyone has seen Akira, character designs inspired by Akira are a dime a dozen.
Which fucking sucks because I love South-East Asian representation in my media. We need more of that and having it in a big ticket game like this is so fucking big.
So her outfit beeing run of the mill and nothing about the design grabbing my attention just makes me not want to play the game, she doesn't have the IT factor that a company like Naughty Dog usually manages to put out
Like
there is the 80s pleather colourful jacket
She has a little pouch on her back and those light-up sneakers but unless the sneakers literally have like movement trails that are integral to the combat system I don't think there is anything interesting that is going to be going on
Her sword is a rectangle for crying out loud
I could get a similar gameplay experience and character look in a hundred indie games for an 8th of the price and that's not the takeaway I want from this
The game problably has cosmetics and outfits, but this is their foot forward on this, the big thing to make me want to play their game so it is a shame it looks so... welll... unoriginal?
I'm really hopping this game does a good job with storytelling. Pet shop boys: it's a sin, is now stuck on my head. Thanks nd.
"Arrogant, angsty young hotshot driven by revenge" is pretty high up on my list of least-liked character tropes. Corpo-MurderLady seemed pretty cool, though... I'd be more interested in a game about her, frankly.
dont care the character is ugly and unrelatable ngl
If a human shaves her head on Earth it does mean something, but in space with millions of alien races with different appearances it doesn't make sense, or I should say it doesn't matter.
Why wouldn't it matter? You think people are going to abandon style and fashion just because they're coexisting with aliens? Balding your head was never dependent on how many aliens there are. Changing your hair as a way to start fresh or distance yourself from who you used to be is pretty common and makes sense. Also, how do you know there are millions of alien races in this game? Let alone thousands, or hundreds, or tens?
Style has meaning. Regardless of where you are, how you dress, style has meaning and that meaning can change based on the context.
the only reason you have a modicum of interest is because of the studio behind it.
...and?
@@ectogamut and this proposition suck.
@@ectogamutIf Neil Druckmann was truly a good dev he would leave Naughty Dog and make his own studio.
But he knows his games will fail without Naughty Dog’s facade and fanbase so he stays at the company and secretly uses the facade for his agenda.
@@petermj1098Blud takes reaching to whole new levels. Wild.
To me i like her facials expressions and her attitude and the shaved head too, i think she gonna be cool character✌
@princephillip1481 good point.
another culture war game..
It looks bad. I don't like it
This looks really good but with Neil Druckman as Creative Director I have my worries.
I can not WAIT for her Captain America and Black Panther game.
haha
Yeah nice but we need to move on from the 80's looks. Its over time to move to the 90's. Which we have seen in this trailer from the CDs to the original flat screen.
Ehhh. The character looks so super realistic and detail and bald, it looks not appealing to me. The same happened with the art direction of the Last of Us 2.
Last of Us 2 was an excellent game
The last of us 2 was absolute dog water, Naughty Dog ruined their reputation by releasing that game.
@@Startrance85 got any more dogshit opinions? I needed a good laugh today.
@@Startrance85 That's a silly thing to say. The characters were well written, the plot was heart wrenching, the gameplay & graphics improved on the first one.
It was literally only a nonsense aesthetics-level culture war outrage that afflicted TLOU 2 -- same as this trailer. Y'all are holding back gaming as a medium with your 10 year old boy level desires.
@@dr.zoidberg8666 bro doesn't have the mental capacity to understand that stories come from all walks of life and not always from a buff ex-marine named brad michaelson who is needs to rescue his kidnapped blonde wife. oh and he is maga so it makes total sense. i hope neil druckmann continues to do this just to piss these guys off till they eventually become numb and stop caring

Naughty Dog was a respected studio, they lost alot of that respect in the past few years.
False.

This game has made me non-buynary....
I loved this video. So refreshing to see someone analyze a trailer like this in such depth. And this game looks amazing and I agree, everything here tells me a story. And it’s NAUGHTY DOG… so Yh. We know how they roll 🤌
