I recently purchased the new model. A couple differences that you didn't mention: the heat outlet and ducting is 3.5" instead of 3" which allows for more volume of air, but it's harder to find 3.5" ducting if you want more length than they include. You can get a 3.5" to 3" reducer, or a 3.5" to 4" adapter to use 3" or 4" ducting. Additionally the new one doesn't come with a fuel filter, so I had to add one to mine. Thanks
Thanks for pointing that out! I was chatting with a guy on IG about the same points. I just ordered a 3.5” to 4” reducer. I completely missed it when I was doing my bench testing. I would have been pissed if I went out and the hose was too short!!! Thanks. 🍺
For me, the TB1 I just purchased with upgraded controller, Bluetooth and ac to dc power converter will do the trick. I’m mounting in my enclosed cargo trailer and will be installing 5 gallon remote tank…and I got it dirt cheap, brand new, straight from Hcalory.
I picked up the new model after waiting for a year considering the purchase. Glad I did! V2 is awesome and I’m really happy with it. For me, I do wish the heat out was on the opposite side of the exhaust. Not a huge deal. Love the product.
Glad you’re happy with it! It’s a really good unit! I just ordered a silicone 90 degree elbow for the exhaust hose to keep it off the exhaust pipe. I’ll let you know if it’s any good.
I just managed to get mine a UK version. for £159.£0.99. including carriage The company was called Mano Mano. Never used them before. bought it at the weekend. Just had emails saying it's been shipped. Went on the site . to cheque what price I'd paid for it. After seeing this video. I'm lucky for me. It's already sold out. So I'm really lucky to get it at this price. I find it a bit odd that you think that centigrade is a disadvantage You seem to forget the USA really is the only of the only places in the world that still uses Fahrenheit. We in the UK changed. I think in the 1960s. to centigrade. Anyway, hopefully mine's still in centigrade. One thing I noted was your application of your exhaust pipe. which I have to point out is incorrect!. All exhausts Of diesel heaters. should gradually go downwards. to stop. any buildup of condensation If you're going to have it bent upwards you're going to need a drill a hole at you at your right angle bend to let the fluid out. Please note that the the Muffler also has holes drilled in it for that very purpose. So there is only 1 way to direct the muffler with the holes to the base. I wait in anticipation to see the connections for the power input. because certain companies have been importing heaters with. inputs that are the same as we use for mains electric kettles in uk. which is really dangerous. So I hope this company has not done the same,. Another thing people need to know. that the heat Ducting. is not the standard 76 mm. It is 90mm. Not that easy to get here in the UK. They are about, but seem to be a bit more expensive. Your video didn't seem to show a very long length. but maybe it stretches out ,and is deceptive I am impressed by the right angle, exhaust pipe. that is not. a corrugated weak affair should last much longer than previous models And other makes. Also, another point of interest my. one is called a Kroak. That is the name of the parent company for C calory. It's exactly the same machine, just with a different name. We can get both sea caloriy and kroak versions here in UK. I am actually using diesel heaters to heat my home. And I bought this one, hopefully, to reduce the fuel usage. Oh, and I burn kerosene, not diesel in mine. which is significantly. cheaper than diesel. Burns cleaner because it has less oil content. But also is a safer fuel. as it can only really burn with a wick. If you throw a match into it, it would just go out. For your uk viewers red. diesel? is probably about 1:30 per litre. Kerosene is. around about £0.80 per litre. and road diesel is even more. At the moment, I use two heaters to heat my complete home a 3. bedroom Semi Fuel used per week.cost me £10.15 If I had a bulk tank for kerosene, and got it delivered, I believe you can get it at just over 50 pence. Per litre. Which is a huge saving it? cheaper than running gas central heating. in UK. I'm hoping this new heater will. drop my costs even more because of one of my existing heaters. uses too much fuel compared to the other one. sorry if I've dragged on a bit Just thought it was important information for people. hear.
I just got mine about a week ago. Use it to supplement my camper heat on super cold days. It’s my first diesel heater. It’s pretty cool that the app will do everything for me. I don’t use the temp setting. Just the blower settings. I out an air filter on the intake pipe. My only complaint is that I’ve had a tiny fuel leak coming from on of the hoses connected to the fuel pump. It seems to be on and off. The connection is tight and clamps are good. Probably would recommend changing those lines and clamps. Fuel use seems to be what I’d expect in 30 degree temps
You definitely can’t beat the convenience of these heaters for sure. Sorry about your fuel leak. Hopefully a new line and clamp will fix it for you. Was it hard to access the fuel pump, it’s pretty tight in there.
@@AdventureBuilt yah it’s super tight in there. I’m going to wait until spring when I’m done using it, then I can really make any changes to the fuel lines and still feel my fingers. The leak is on and off and very minimal, so I’m not too concerned about it at the moment. I just monitor it everyday.
I reached out to the manufacturer and got an answer. The only way to use the temp control function in the app is to have the head unit to the heater in the tent with you. They are going to start including a long extension cord with a quick release clip on next years model. Honestly something I don’t think I would mess with mainly because I can set the temp pretty well using the fan speed and output level. On warmer nights I set it to level 1 or turn it off it I get to warm. You can turn it back on from the app. On really cold nights you can let it run on level 5 and it stays toasty. Maybe they could build in a Bluetooth thermostat into the little remote and store that in the tent. I would definitely use that. Hope this helps.
I have been buying my battery bankx with a eye on getting a diesel heater in the future. I have a Pecron EP3600 now that has a 30 amp 12 volt outlet that should easily power a diesel heater.
Oupes also has a 12v 30a Anderson out on their "Mega" line of power stations. I've been harping on Bluetti, Anker, and the other big brands about this for a long time. That output is not just great for diesel heaters, but it can be used to power all kinds of 12v accessories, even a switching system like Switch Pros, Auxbeam, etc. This, along with the newest wave of DC fast charging solutions, makes them a complete replacement for a dual battery system. Hardwire everything in your rig to an Auxbeam switch system and then plug that into the 12v 30a output. Recharge it using one of the new DC charging solutions and hard mounted solar. These units have built in BMS's, MPPT controllers, and Inverters. And best of all they're not permanent, you can move it from vehicle-to-vehicle, use it in the home for power outages, etc. The popular brands really need to get on this.
The new unit is considerably more efficient with electric and fuel. I think you'll find that it will run fine on the 10a DC output on your power stations and you probably won't require the ac converter which will save considerably more power overall
I recently ran both heaters for an extended period and there wasn’t any noticeable difference in efficiency. Also definitely won’t run without issue on any DC port. It will run until it needs a big power draw then it will shut down with a code. Works great with the inverter though.
Absolutely worth the upgrades! I built my own DH kit inside a Dewalt rolling cart so that I could house a larger gas tank all within the unit. My concern was with the outside tank & lines possibly freezing over night, as well as any fuel spills being within the box during rocky road transport as opposed to sloshing around in the truck. How large is that new gas tank? I came in late in the video...
I have the old model. What adaptor did you buy to run it off your battery? Mine is wired to my Fj cruiser and I would like to be able to use it in my garage and with my Goal zero battery. Thank you
No unfortunately as far as I can tell the new app only works with the new model. I had them both on side by side and the new app didn’t pull up the old units Bluetooth.
Thankyou for your review it is appreciated i am a newbie and just bought the Sunster ToolBox version and after another heater, can I assume they still have the really annoying ticking pump on the new TB2? You mentioned it on the 2024 model. Once again thanks for your hard work. Regards JD in UK
I’ve have left mine in the rain and snow a few times without issue, however I don’t think the controller is weather sealed so would be a little cautious with it. IMHO.
Great review! The 2025 model sounds really great! I’m in a trailer year round. Just bought a pellet stove but I’m looking for a back up that doesn’t need power. This seems like a good option as I could switch it to a battery pack if need be. Is this mode different in the aspect of where you place it? Does the entire unit get placed outside and piped in for heat or do you leave this inside and pipe out the exhaust only??
Personally I think it is better to keep the unit outside and pipe the warm air in. Will be safer than having the exhaust going through a wall. Just my opinion.
Thanks so much. It does but once the heater gets really hot it kinda goes away. It takes over an hour for some reason. At least here because it’s cold AF.
That is a great deal. One thing I learned from ordering stuff from Walmart, if you do a return in store for a third party item, they won’t give you a refund until the third party refunds them first.
