In August, my horse passed. I had him 20 years. I found a great horse, a mare, just one week later. I went from a more whoa than go to a more go than whoa. She and I are still getting used to one another. I am 73 years old. My horse is very willing. I have learned a lot from your videos. Thank you for this. You are very wise.

Everything in life is so fast, and I always have to remind myself that horse time is SLOW. That's one of the things that is so wonderful about them.

I love the thought that a horse could help me manage my emotions.
I kind of get excited inside thinking about how a horse could help me and my mental health. It just makes me want to praise God for what a wonderful world He created and by what means, He helps His children.

I don’t own a horse, but I do riding lessons and sometimes, the mare that I ride doesn’t seem to trust me as much as I trust her, this video was very helpful!

I'm 58 and got my first horse a little over a year ago. I took lessons for 18 months before I bought my mare. We now take lessons together. So much to learn, especially managing my anxiety when loping, as someone who only did trail riding before I started lessons. Thanks for your encouragement and wisdom!

I'm 56 and hadn't ridden since childhood (and no lessons back then! Just riding friends' ponies) and am now having weekly lessons with my daughter. Loving it. We want our own horse.
I plan on taking a lesson or two with my new horse in the spring. I'm 73. I've loved this girl's videos. She makes it simple and clear.

Love it! I’d love to see more of the initial basics videos like this. You already have some great basics videos. How to halter a horse that has never been haltered or is very new to it, etc. There is a severe lack of beginner how-tos that cover the basics. You have some nice ones with how to pick up a hoof for example.
I’m working with my horses from a starting place of care that leads to that trust and allows them to still let me know what they think about things and gets that communication going between us.

I enjoyed this video very much. We cannot be reminded enough that there are so many ways to spend time with our horses to strengthen our bond and gain their trust. When I retired I tried to make up for the previous 10 years when I barely saw them outside of feeding and cleaning the stalls. This past summer when it was too hot for riding we walked them in the early evening, about 30-40 minutes up the hill. This especially helped my mare (17) who apparently had never actually seen cows before. Through the course of the summer she transitioned from a sweaty mess to mild snorting. I'm glad we did that before trying to ride past them.

I absolutely love your videos and this has been very helpful, could you maybe do a video on how to desensitize a horse to say, crowds or loud noises?
I am 71 and lost my sweet Buddy who was 30. I saved him from a Texas kill pen. He was a well trained ranch horse but he had been abused. He was head shy. I have two horses left. Princess is also a Texas rescue and she is coming along.
@EquineHelper can you make a video for sensitizing your horse to new-ish cues that the horse knows, but isn't super soft about it?
I ride on a competitive equestrian drill team. My horse has come a long way from two years ago; she neck reins and makes downward transitions just off my seat and voice, but id like to get her even more soft and reactive to my cues, especially leg pressure sharp turns.
I have a horse already I trust. But I bought another horse recently that I don't trust that much so thank you so much for making all of these videos you're so helpful to me and keep making videos like this and I really care about you and also I would love to learn more from you.

I don't own a horse myself. I am however taking riding lessons on a ridning school close and have been doing so for almost 3 years. Even though i most of the time ride on the same school horse when i having my riding lessons. I assume that building up trust with the horse on the riding school is just as important as if i had my own horse.
I am thinking that is must be quite different for a school horse to build up trust with the rider(s). Because a school horse on a riding have many different people riding and not just the same person all the time

Thanks for this video! I have a question, I have 7 horses that all need to be exercised and get some attention but I only have enough time for some of them through out my week to get enough exercise, and I am wondering if you have a way that I can keep giving all my horses attention? I guess to sum it up would be, How do you give all your horses attention but still have time for yourself?
Have you considered going bit less to help build trust with your horse? Bits do cause a horse pain, Do you keep your horse stalled up all day when you’re not riding them?
How do you approach and give trust to the horse for the 1st time?

I have done your gain and maintain your horse's respect course. How is this new course different?
I would say that if you have done the respect course but still feel like something is missing, the trust course may be for you. It dives deeper into recognizing what exactly you may be communicating to your horse (knowingly and unknowingly). There’s also a few simple exercises I walk through to help your horse calm down and gain confidence.
What would we had to do if this doesn’t work? 😪❌😱
