I finally got to canter today! It was so much fun. I do semi-private lessons with another girl, she rides a mare and I ride a gelding. My canter was very smooth while she looked like she was on a bronc lol

That’s good!! I was able to trot alone without gripping the saddle a few weeks ago.
(I’m getting riding lessons in the summer once a week per month, so that’s why I say “a few weeks ago”)

So glad I found your channel. Late horsewoman here. Had my first lesson when I was 38. Great teacher then, I have to give him credit, as he knew a lot about the horse's mind and so on. Unfortunately he is no longer with us. What I learnt from him: Small steps matter. Journaling is one part of it. Writing down how a lesson went and what I learnt from it is very rewarding. I truly enjoy the journey. I like your clear body language and the way you explain. The result: You're a great team.😍

Also, I'd love to see you demonstrate these concepts with Yoshi too! I know you may think "he's not well trained enough to really show what I mean" but that's just it. Most people watching your channel don't have horses who are already fully trained like tucker. It can be a lot more realistic and helpful to watch the process of you training a horse who isn't already perfectly trained so they know what to do when their horse doesn't respond like how the expected.
In your last video with Yoshi I could see you looked kind of embarassed when Yoshi didn't act exactly as you expected or said he would. But I think that's ok and that's a great thing to show. What do you do when your horse doesn't respond to training as expected? How do you as a trainer take a step back and regroup? Readiust for your horses needs

Wow I find it really synchronistic that she says it’s important to try to train them to move with the least exertion possible on the humans end, and if they don’t listen then you exert more energy towards them, it’s kind of the same way if someone is bullying you, generally you let them know in a smaller more passive way and if it continues then it is necessary to be more vocal to that person about it

I think the best thing I’ve learned so far is “confidence.” Walking the horse, getting a trot, posting trot (2 months now), confidence! It’s tough! And, I cannot sit trot yet.

I had a break from horse riding and last week I got back and I realized how much I missed the pony I take care off and how much fun riding is. I think the break did me great, I had to focus on other things. But when I got back, it all went soooo great and I was so relaxed! While before, I could sometimes be a bit nervous. Now I’m just obsessed again and watching horse videos like I’m 12 again. And not planning to stop riding and caring for this pony. Hopefully I can have my own horse one day. This video was helpful and also fun to watch 😍

I ride a horse at my stable, who has a little bit too much energy, so when you’re saying that the horse’s movement’s depend in yours with lunging and stuff is partially true but also not, she’ll always want to go faster then me, but when i allow her to just run around in the riding area before im going to ride (for example before going bareback), she often won’t run unless i run with her, though she will go way faster and will keep going even when i stop. it’s quite adorable actually
Also, when i’m calm, she’s not, 3/10 times when i stand still she’s standing still, i really have to pull at her to stop walking, otherwise she’ll run to the paddocks-

PS loving your channel - I grew up in a world of ponies and pony club before mobile phones with the internet. I studied and memorised everything I knew/know through countless horse and pony books. Then about 6 years ago, I took a hiatus from riding.
Fast forward to now, and I've just inherited myself a beautiful ex racing mare. Its another wonderous journey all over again. I just love horses, I've been fortunate to own many now in my life and this feeling just doesn't get old.
And I was only thinking today, I need to brush up my knowledge on body language and communications (it's like you read my mind!) as my mannerisms have changed since I was a little girl and at the same time, my depth of appreciation and understanding of intentions and spirituality has grown so much beyond what I could ever have comprehended life would entail.
So I am thoroughly enjoying and appreciating your channel from rural NSW, Australia.

I was so confused at the first two sentences lol
I noticed the shoulder 'trick' while walking my Great Pyrenees! The breed is independent, but she seems insecure in the world (I adopted her at age 5, no hx). When she refused to go the direction *I* want, I'd crouch down and try and coax her to me. She turned away. Wth?? Eventually I started facing my entire body towards our route, thinking my feet or hips would cue her.
Instantaneous.

charming & excellent Remind people not to wear sunglasses. Horses read the direction of our gaze. We have the eye placement like lions, tigers, & bears---that of a predator. On the long line merely look at the hindquarters. Best of luck!

Great channel, but quick question when it comes to lunging. I've been taught that when you want your horse to stop, you turn your shoulders and belly towards the horses shoulders, to put pressure on the front of the horse to make them stop, while in this video you do the opposite by turning your shoulders towards the front of the horse to make him move faster. I always put the pressure on the middle of the horse to make him keep the paste, and put pressure on the hind to make him move faster. Am I doing it wrong then?
I took a horseback riding course as well as a horse training course in college and I was taught to lunge by squaring my shoulders to the horse’s hip to “drive forward” and that a foot should be planted, not walking. Have you seen many countering ideas of how to lunge correctly?

I have a extremely sassy mare so she gives strong body language and she tries to bite me but she didn't try to kick me she sometimes tries to kick the other horses and sometimes she tries to kick them through the fence
When shes tries to bite you shes is acting defensive. She’s anxious. Tell her its okay, You’re got her back, your her leader and she can trust you to keep her safe. speak gently in a low voice, to her, breathe and relax, be in the moment. Stand tall around her, every time you see her praise her. She will feel your positive intentions and energy. Ask her permission before you brush her and rug her. You will see her natural gentleness come out, as for kicking horse through the fence, all horses can behave inappropriately when theres a fence between them. In a herd in the paddock, they soon listen to the leader and settle down grazing.

The horse started to come towards me when I was walking it to the pin like it was bumping into me can anyone tell me why ,but I think it was my shoulders (I’m a beginner)
And if horse won’t go forward and sticks feet in dirt and refuses to move forward.

When take one horse buddy out of paddock and other screams in paddock having huge anxiety, what to do?
Three horse buddies and one won’t do what did to others?
Horse pushes into you what asking them to go in circle and asked them to already go right or left, but goes toward you instead?
Make sure to keep your arms out to show your horse to give you space, or push them when they get to clsoe
What does horse putting head up and down mean? At ranch at, I notice many horses doing that.
Quite possibly due to flies or other insects.
