My Revv G3 will never leave my board. It covers so much ground for OD/Distortion. I love how tight it can be, but I put an EQD Plumes (usually on the Asym clipping setting) in front of it for extra hair if needed. It is a wonderful pairing, if I do say so myself. The Plumes will also give any OD pedals a run for their money.

    Favorite pedal(s) (couldn’t choose just one obviously)🤠:
    1) MR. BLACK - “double chorus”
~ it gives your sound a widening effect that feels like stereo and has that texture but with a modulation that is so lush and intense that the flavor of the tone is fresh and articulate every single time it’s clicked on. Love it.
    2) EHX - “hot wax”
~ I actually don’t do backflips over the second channel of this pedal, as it is a two channel box. Its basically 2 drives in 1= the green side being the “ehx crayon” (my favorite drive pedal ever), the red side being the “hot tubes”.
Both channels sound awesome but the crayon has this charisma and understated texture that is just so original sounding and unique to the person playing through it. Love it love it.
And finally 3) *a pedal I’ve never owned actually……the BOSS “super phaser”
~ this pedal, essentially, is Mike Einziger’s (Incubus) go-to phaser pedal al a tracks like “pardon me” and “are u in?”--It’s just amazing, chewy, lush, and gritty. A perfect blend of originality and classic phaser goodness. It’s just great musical fun. Love it love it love it.
That’s all I got! Rock on brother! 🤘🏼😎🔥🔥

Electro-Harmonix's Metal Muff is my personal favorite distortion pedal. The way you can make it produce totally different tones with slight adjustments makes it very versatile, and it's so fun to stomp on the Top Boost switch and go nuts.

    • @kendoform

As long as you keep the Boost knob low, you can hit it just on single note passages and it's not jarring at all (a common complaint), and it actually adds a pleasant clarity. It can work in front of or in the effects loop of a lot of amps. It's the pedal that makes a Metal Zone a solid backup instead of a core tool for me. "I'm a Metal Muff Main."

  • @redzombie5381

I don’t own any pedals but unironically I love the metal zone due to its kick ass tone when in the fx loop, such a surprise since you rarely see distortion in the back

@@-jank-willsonYou aren't thinking of the hm-2 either. The metal zone isn't a rat/ tube screamer hybrid. Fully gained out neither the mt-2 or the hm-2 get into the fuzz territory the rat gets into. The hm-2 gets hairy, but it's still not fuzz like the rat.

  • @falkym
    @falkym 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Boss CE-2. It just gives you anything you want from chorus pedal, main sound is just so recognizable, it makes your tone grittier while still preserving that smoothness... still the best chorus there ever was.

  • @hankgalt
    @hankgalt 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    EVH phase 90
It was my first pedal, and it’s the easiest to use and instantly brings up that EVH sound. I suck at dialing in pedals and never get much out of overdrives or delays or all those fancy digital pedals. Give me the simple little red striped box and I’m happy.

  • @drdre4397

Either the Strymon Deco because of how many sounds I have gotten out of it that I absolutely love! I bought it for the tape saturation and slapback but I am constantly finding new stuff on it. The magnetic doubling sound is so awesome.
But honestly every pedal on my board is my favourite that's why it's on the board.

My Walrus Julia is such an inspiration machine and it's my favorite by far, but one type of pedal I think is really underrated is acoustic simulators. Even if you're not going for an actual acoustic sound, they're so good at bringing out trebly sparkle with single coils and get such a unique vibe. Really great if you want a particularly bright and jangly guitar element/texture to pop out in a mix.

    • @marth_6126
      @marth_6126 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I hear ya on both accounts. I bought the Julianna, does vibrato great too. I don't have an acoustic simulator pedal, but I have an amp head that has a built in acoustic mode (modeled on the boss pedal). I'll use that with a semi-hollow and it sounds incredible.

I love my Way Huge Swollen Pickle (and I just like saying that too). It's a great fuzz pedal- dial it back to heavy distortion or crank it up for the perfect 60's and 70's big afro fuzz tone. Sustain so long you need a calendar to measure it. I don't use it nearly enough, but when I do it's just glorious.

My favorite pedal is this one I saw somewhere that splits your signal in 3: one goes through an clean anologue polyphonic octave up, another goes through a clean analogue polyphonic octave down, and the last stays clean. Then they are combined again into one signal which exits the pedal

  • @stevensherwood5896

My favorite pedal is the Friedman BE-OD. It does a pretty good job of emulating a BE100. It is my go to OD pedal. The only thing with it is that it isn’t super versatile, as I basically only does 1 thing (massive overdrive), but it does it so well that it doesn’t really have to do anything else.

  • @macmurphy74

The Stone Deaf PDF -2 will never leave my board. It's my 'always on' pedal, giving my amp a little push and giving me some precise tone shaping options. It's also great when I want to kick on some extra gain with its dirty side. I can't recommend it enough.

After A Tuner, my Favorite Pedal is the EQD Dispatch Master.
Because when you have an Amp you mostly have Gain and other stuff, but the Dispatch Master gives every sound Hall, Delay, Room, reverb and gives HiFi quality to your sound, no matter what you are going to play, it makes everything sound High Quality even Hums.

This may be out of left field, but my favorite pedal I own is probably an inexpensive Donner looper. It’s like a coloring book or sketch pad where you draw the outlines, then use everything else (other pedals, amp guitars) to “color” them. You can even save the “pages” to your computer. Great for ‘playing with yourself’ 😉✌🏻🎸🎶

If I had to pick one of the pedals I've owned over the years, I'd have to say the Boss PH2 Super Phaser. My wife picked it out at a music store because I was looking for a pedal that made my guitar sound like the sound is expanding and contracting in a very subtle yet apparent way and I achieved that sound with minimal setting of the pedal. I don't use it all the time, but used very tastefully, the Phaser sound is very beautiful to say the least

    My digitech Whammy pedal.
It works as a great octaver, a pitch-shifter to be a down-tuned djent machine or a virtual capo, it’s a neat chorus pedal, a very versatile harmonizer and FINALLY as a cool whammy pedal.

One of my favourite pedals that I have is definitely my Boss OD-1X, it was one of the first pedals that I received and is my go-to overdrive/distortion pedal and plus it just gets the job done, but second to that is my EHX Big Muff Pi since I’m a big Pink Floyd/Smashing Pumpkins fan and I’ve always wanted a fuzz pedal, so that one is my go-to for a “heavier”, thicker-sounding guitar tone (Plus it was the first pedal I bought with my own money a couple years ago, also because my band and I were doing a Pumpkins song at the time so I wanted to sound closer to the record)

TC Electronics MojoMojo. Super useful and sounds great with a variety of settings. Personally, I dime the volume, kill the drive and treat it almost more like an EQ/compressor that is always on. It makes my clean tones really pop and makes it easier to have consistent volume from clean to dirt. I run it into a Tube Screamer followed by a distortion and this setup gives me all of the levels of dirt I need. I throw a wah in front, an EQ that I use as a boost in the back along with a delay and sometimes a phase right before the delay. Really happy with this setup. The MojoMojo specifically lets me get my sound through a wide variety of amps. Great for gigs where I won't be bringing my own backline.

i have yet to find any pedal that sounds like vintage Small Clones. Modern Small Clones are close but gotta do a little modifications because usually for most pedals i say there's no difference between the new and old ones but for small clones I definitely notice maybe kind of a bass cutout that I can also hear when modifying the modern small clone to be closer to the vintage one. I have a ds1 but ive been using it less and less since my built-in boss katana DS1 sounds exactly the same to my ears 🤷

My favourite is Fender Pugilist Distortion. It's got so much range from beautiful, saturated overdrive and near fuzzy tones to nice heavy distortion when feeding into a crunch setting on your amp.

My favourites, no particular order: Deluxe Memory Man, Boss DD3, Boss CE 2, Zendrive, Archer, Peterson Tuner, Boss CS2 compressor, Petrucci Wah, Strymon Bluesky, Tube Screamer Ibanez, Friedman BE Deluxe, and Big muff triangle (the new one is fine). Honorable mantions, Carbon copy, Boss Flanger, Strymon timeline, and of course the almighty Eventide H9

3 Old standby? MXR Phase 90

When I started playing the electric guitar, I didn't know anything about pedals or how they work, how to use them, how to arrange them. My father bought me a Zoom G1Next pedal along with my guitar and it had plenty of effects. I mostly used it for distortion and everything sounded great to my inexperienced ears. Anyway, at some point I thought of giving up on music, I recorded some stuff meanwhile but it was all in low quality without actual knowledge of how guitar effects or even mixing works, I was about 17 years old. At that time, a local theatre asked me to perform live music at an ancient theatre along with the play and I was so excited but broke at the same time so I had to work with what I had. I found out that the Zoom G1Next could emulate some satisfying pad sounds and it really inspired me to keep playing. I know it's not the best pedal for that job, but it really came in handy the time I needed it most. Therefore it's my favourite guitar pedal because if it wasn't for it, I would have given up on music.

My favorite pedals are the Walrus Audio Julia (Chorus), Ground Control audio Amaterasu (Treble boost) and Danelectro Reel Echo (Delay).
The last one is crazy in the way one of my guitar hero uses it (Mike Einziger), it’s super glitchy when you move the time slider with repeats about 1 o’clock,
See also the solo to incubus’ “Pistola”.
I also love the PH-3 too, Mike is such a rad guitarist.

Done. Ibanez CS 505, chorus, circa 78. Ibanez/Maxon Bi-Chorus. Wilsons Stoned Grasshopper (OG). MXR, 2000 series stereo phaser and flanger. DLS Echotap. And a couple of cheapies, Zoom MS70CDR, for my synthesizers. And you can't beat a great loopstation, for instant gratification and songwriting. I also used to take my loopstation, down to my clinic. When I was working as a music therapist. I'm sure it's somebody else's turn by now. Lol. But there is more but yep that's enough. If I could only keep one pedal. Probably be the Wilsons. 1 interesting question which I've never found the answer too. I wonder what an acoustic guitar modeller, sounds like on a analogue synthesiser? 🙏💜🐈

Love my Pigtronix Octava…it is so much more than just a fuzzy octaver (though it does that great). It’s a clean boost, a clean octave, a light overdrive, nice fuzzy goodness, etc. Sitting near the front of my chain it is just so flexible and useful! My favorite pedal, though, is my Sherlock Amplifiers V3 two channel tube drive. It is the core of my tone. 🎶🎸

That’s akin to choosing my favorite child. But I’ll give you a few.
Boss CE-2W: Two of the best chorus circuits in one enclosure. Amazing. Just adds such a brilliant shine and makes your playing feel alive and lush.
EHX Deluxe Memory Man/Stereo Memory Man: I don’t have the deluxe big box memory man yet but eventually I’ll get one. The percussive sounds when strumming, the unique way the repeats fade. I own a vintage stereo memory man and a deluxe memory man xo, I have the winning bid for a big box dmm so far, hopefully it wins, the demos I’ve heard are gorgeous.
Keeley Loomer- Shoegaze in a box without having a signal chain that’s a mile long. You know it’s legitimate when Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine has one on his board.
RYRA Klone- My favorite overdrive. I’ll never be able to afford a legitimate Klon but this is a fantastic recreation, best Klon Klone out there that stays true to the OG.
Ram’s Head/Op Amp Big Muff- I own the reissues and I must say, they are the best fuzz pedals you can buy under $150. Wow. The raspy voice of the Ram’s head sounds so aggressive yet smooth. The op amp is smashing pumpkins Siamese dream in a box, what’s not to love?

My personal favorite pedal is my OCD, I’m not a great guitar player so I tend to play rhythm when I get to. I have an SG with a dirty fingers bridge pickup going through a Bugera V22 that I put a Mesa Black Cat (Celestion built) into with Russian tubes, it’s so crunchy and I love it!

I have about 12 favorites that I could go into, but my Maxon RTO700 can hang with a Centaur for way less. Of note, a Boss Blues Driver is the best budget version of that "tool."
One of the 12 favorites I would recomend to literally every guitarist of any style that has regular band practices and/or especially shows: An unpowered A/B switch "backwards" at the front of your chain with your main and a backup that sounds close enough both plugged into it. Always having an understudy guitar at the ready means that you could even break a string in the middle of a song and still make a suave transition to a solid finish. And you get to finish the practice or show without the awkward pause of restringing the main or setting up the backup to take over.
