They were lifelong residents of Delaware ohio.. years ago, I had seen this story at our local library preserved on microfiche.I I'm a loyal follower of your channel, and also a supporter. Thanks for visiting my hometown and passing on this amazing story
Typhoid is caused by consuming polluted or compromised water & food. It is a strain of the salmonella bacterium, so when penicillin came around, many lives were now saved. I cannot imagine the heartbreak of the parents who have lost some- or all of their children to these totally preventable diseases.🙏🏼
Indeed, my mother was born in 1921 and she said all the parents then were terrified of diphtheria. And then when I was a child in the 1950’s it was polio that was horrible before the vaccine arrived. Hard times 😢

It blew me away...In 1918-1923 there were multiple graves, one after the other of children who passed just days apart in a single family. Six kids who all got typhoid, diptheria, strep throat, rheumatic fever or the Great Flu of WW1. It mowed them down, from the babies to the teenagers. How could parents survive that? This was a small mining & lumber town at the time, but every nationality had it's own graveyard area and there were hundreds that were like the above situation.

You should go south to chillicothe. we have a very old cemetery called Grandview. It's beautiful and shows all of the city when u are up there. Alot of famous people are there.

Ron, I think you'd be intrigued by the story of the St. Francis School fire (1899), Quincy Illinois, and the burial/lives of the young girls and nuns lost that day. Quincy also has Woodland Cemetery, which is both historic and gorgeous!

People have no idea how lucky we are to have modern medicine with the best being penicillin and just to know germ theory was a big deal
