SWEET HOUR OF PRAYER

The song writer approaches God's throne with the same thoughts found in Psalm 18:6: "In my despair, I called upon the Lord; to my God I appealed for aid. My voice came from his temple, and my cries for Him were heard by Him.
The writer continues, "I'll cast on Him my every care," which is an exact quotation from 1 Peter 5:7 ("Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you,").
Philippians 4:6-7 mentions prayer as a source of comfort and consolation. The author depicts Moses on Mount Pisgah at the end of his life, looking towards the Promised Land and departing the world after having lived a life devoted to prayer (Deuteronomy 34:1).
