A complete ride-through of the Dante's Dungeon dark ride on Morey's Surfside Pier in North Wildwood, NJ. This was recorded by Bill Cherkasky on May 26, 2024.
Thanks for posting. I'm 46 years old and rode The Mad-O-Rama at Casino in Asbury Park, Dark ride and walkthru at Palace Amusements, Walkthru at Long Branch Pier, Stillwalk Manor at Seaside, Spook House in Keansburg, Castle in Wildwood and sadly they are all gone. Glad this ride is still in NJ. Even local Rye Playland in NY lost a dark ride last year.
This reminds me of the Whacky Shack that used to be on Hunt’s Pier back in the 1970s. Always have loved dark rides like this. This dark ride looks to be in pretty good condition.
Loved this. Went on this a few years ago with my wife and son when we were in NJ. Growing up I used to go on this every summer in the 80's when it was Dante's Inferno. I am 54 now. When I went on I was a teenager.
That's a good question. I know they didn't want to sell them to Knoebels when they bought the track and trains. I think they were considering working some of them into the new roller coaster they were planning, but that didn't happen. Maybe they still have them in storage.
I also remember it being dante's inferno. I believe originally he was holding the pitchfork with both hands, maybe it broke in half from the mist from his mouth. (I remember that would drip often)
Thanks for sharing! I haven't been down to Wildwood in years. Question was that the queue to the Nor'Easter to the right of Dante's Dungeon or is that another attraction?
Man, they need to do a better patch job on that demon on the facade... At least the interior seems to be holding up ok. I could fix this thing up first class... but I live on the totally opposite side of the country. Ah well...
@@DarkinthePark Look at his elbows! I don't know what they tried to use, but it's already loose and torn! If they aren't capable of reskinning the arms properly, it would be better to hide the joints using 'costuming' like sleeves/a robe, or armbands... something that doesn't look like they tried to stick on some duct tape that's already coming off in the rain...

Which darkride did Rye lose? The Zombie ride?
Flying Witch@@DarkinthePark
Ok. That had already been removed when we visited Playland last summer.

love it! glad this classic haunt is still there, and looking great and drawing a crowd.
Wow that dark ride was decorated to every inch. No dark rooms! No black walls! Truly a treat!

I remember this back when it was Dante's Inferno. Used to go on that ride all the time in Wildwood.
Great footage
I see they have a stunt from the golden nugget in there at the end. I wonder what happened to the other props from the mine ride?

One of the best.

Yes, the old pitchfork spanned both hands.
They probably stopped it to pinch every penny possible .. it's just another machine for maint. to work on.
@@someoneout-there2165 actually it's 2 independent motors now, so more, not less.

That's a wild mouse coaster called the Doowoper.
@@DarkinthePark Thanks. Has it been there awhile? I haven't been since 2017 or 2018.
@@MindofSmoothie Yes, it's been there since the early 80s.
@@DarkinthePark 😂 it's definitely been too long.
Seems like it didn’t change. I especially remember that mirror at 2:51.
It didn't change from last year.
as someone who rode The Mummy and Indianna Jones I could probably ride this laughing like an idiot.

He doesn't look too bad to me.

@@vectorwolf I guess I'm used to it because I always remember the joints looking like that since the 80s.
