The lyrics are from Scott to his wife...when she was ill in the hospital...then about their wedding...then finding out about her pregnancy. Mostly a reflection of his deep love for her and being blessed with the life they have together. It's pretty straight forward..and beautiful.
Watch this version from 2 years ago……If anybody had any doubts about the meaning behind this song, watch Scott bring it with emotion and beauty. This gondola version and the Lexington version are my favorites….by far.
Pure and Natural RAW Talent. Scotts voice great, seths also great, but together, F-R-E-A-K-I-N-G Amazing!! Man do I love listening to these guys. Just moved from Raleigh NC and missing these guys, come to Memphis TN.....Please.
I love how he starts smiling soon after they start singing. He knows that it sounds so awesome!!! the bass, the lead and the beat.. so amazing live and on the spot!!!
I may have to check into St. Joseph's as I cannot stop watching this video! Truly awesome, TAB is great, of course, but lovely landscape...life is good!
What's really astonishing is that this video has over 10,000 views and only 45 ppl bothered to rate this! How can this amazing music performed on a moving Gondola not easily merit 5 stars? Fantastic band. :)
this is going to be one of my favorite vids of these boys. thanks so much for posting this! they sound so good no matter where they play. can you imagine getting on one of those gondolas and the avett brothers are there to serenade you for the ride??? god, i would die a happy girl. these guys are the best singers/songwriters/performers/musicians this world has had the priviledge to listen too in a looooong time!
@cp911s Thank you!! Actually, I was wrong..I listen to a podcast called Celt in a twist..and they actually play a song by them called Ten Thousand Words and the moment I heard that song I loved it. Then I found this song. So I will def. check out the rest of their music..
Just a fantastic band. I was at their small concert in Munich, Germany on 08-16-2011. Did anyone film at that particular one. I'd love to see clips from it. There was only one on You Tube - bad quality.
Yea its so good! I wonder if he is talking about his sister's baby or his daughter that was born recently... i lovvvve this song no matter who he is talking about!
This is ridiculously outstanding! Who records a tune in a gondola ride?? These dudes are american music... no doubt... I love when the big beard cat plays the other dudes Martin as "cymbals" at 1:07..... Avett Bros... top notch,.. TOP NOTCH!
I couldn't agree more. It was me, Scott's bride, the video guy and the boys. They played Murder in the City on the way up with extended jam but the cameraman ucked up the tape! My avorite is when Seth uses Scott's tuning pegs as a cymbal at 1:07
Real music. I sense everything from the Grateful Dead to the Black Crowes to KOL in their music - such a great, unique sound. Can't wait to see these guys in person.
this makes me happy knowing theres so much bullshit influences around us but there still people who remeber what its all about! and are concious of ourselves.
I was there for that festival and it was wonderful! Avett was so good at 11 in the before noon. Great festival. Too bad it didn't happen this summer. I was ready.. What happened?
I always (I've watched video a lot) imagine being there on that path and looking over to see the playing. Like, "Hey that's one of my favorite bands playing in that gondola!" I know people were there to see them play anyways, but I would've peed my pants. I had a ticket to see them earlier this year and I missed the show. So, so sad; come back to Edgefield!

@@husker22chad63 I was at this show. Front row right in front of Seth. From this angle they are out on a short catwalk to my left.
A masterpiece ❤
One of the best Avett bro videos out there.
God has touched this whole thing beginning to end. See you in Duluth GA

I may have to check into St. Joseph's as I cannot stop watching this video! Truly awesome, TAB is great, of course, but lovely landscape...life is good!
