This is a beautiful song! And this version IS much better than the recorded one. I love the conviction and truthfulness that Scott expresses when he sings. I can never just listen once.....
A lot of their songs hit me pretty hard emotionally, but this one here, makes me ball like a baby every time I hear it. I can't pinpoint what it is. I think it's the genuineness and sincerity in how he sings it. It's just so freaking beautiful. Oh and I once saw him cry while singing this song and that makes it even harder having that memory.

The Avett Brothers are so soulful and amazing...and I love that they take this thing called "fame" in stride. They live life on their terms, and sound so damned amazin', even when playing in the back yard, on the beach or in a local park when they stop for lunch! They are like "crack" for the spirit and soul, and--of course--the ears!
