100% Agreed! I think my child became an artist because I spent so much time playing territory capture trying to get the firework item lol
The game doesn't tell you this but all of the children have career stats that determines what ending you get depending on the child career
The best outcome for muffy's son is to become a athlete
he's average at being a farmer
And horrible at being a artist
The best version of all the career ending has the child return home after fulfilling their dream and becoming a farmer
My mom and I played this game everyday and when you die in the game we both cried. Now that she’s passed away I will be playing the new version with my daughter ❤this game holds a special place in my heart. Thank you for the awesome video

There is a newer version on the Nintendo switch called story of seasons a wonderful life, just for your information and I game called harvest Moon another wonderful life, its about as old as the other game but you get to play as a girl instead

Harvest Moon AWL is the only game where dying is the goal. Since death, having set up your kids for a great future is logically the end of *a wonderful life*, it's brilliant.
There should be more games like this.
This. I'm all for having the game never end so people don't have to say goodbye to their farm if they dont want to, but I feel like having the narrative, watching characters grow old with you, and raising your child really make this game a masterpiece.
i agree on the theme, but i hate the execution. i feel like the game is too busy going for that, but it end up sacrificing too much to achieve it. there is a middle ground, that i think has yet to be achieved. there's another game that tried to pull it off as well, with generations taking over, but i have yet to play that one.
@@marcosdheleno An expedited arc system would be pretty neat to play with. Allows for the introduction of a whole host of new characters and potentially changing the map. It would be super cool lol
The thought of Van actually buying the milk for himself and shamefully chugging it in secret is hilarious to me.

This game solidified my love for this genre of videogames. I absolutely love The Legend Of Zelda for its lore, but Harvest Moon just hits different. How is it that farming in a game is such a timeless, calming joy? It worked 20 years ago, it works today and still there are farming games released every other month.

I would love to see you continue going through the Harvest Moon series and 100% complete each game (I can't even imagine how much time goes into doing that for 1 of the games let alone all of them). I remember playing this game when I was younger, even though my console was unable to hold any memory or saves of any game, so I would intentionally leave the game on to try and challenge myself how far I can progress until it turns off by itself. I would spend so many hours but I’ve only seen the first few moments of this game which is a bit funny. So seeing this pop up and being able to know all of the extent of this game without having to search for such detailed things myself finally is a nice surprise for tonight. Thank you for all the effort you’ve put into the videos compiled into this.

I used to skip sleep just to play this game (and get spooked by the weirdest things lmao) but only ever got to play until the part where the son started showing interest in art. Then my memory card got corrupted and all my data died. Still never replayed the game yet but thinking I'll probably just wait to get the remake at this rate.

Love the video, just recently found out about the ending and it makes me sad but also makes me like it since it's not the normal way these games play out... I'd love to see a video on Heaven Mode mainly because it's hard to find anything on it. I'd also like your take on why the player dies relatively young considering everyone but Nina outlives you.
Unfortunately, I don't have any footage of Heaven mode since I played on the original version. I think it's just the final chapter on repeat, but you get to keep playing lol. I guess my take on the farmer dying so young is because he got overworked and fell ill.
I would love a 100% series for every Harvest Moon/SOS game

For the weather channel, my brother and I always found that the person with the straw hat tends to have a more reliable prediction than the man in the suit. You just have to keep switching to a different channel then switch back to the weather channel until you get the man in the straw hat.

I think it’s important to say that this game wasn’t made by Natsume! They did the localization work, but it was actually developed by Marvelous. Natsume, in their localization process, really wanted to make people think they were the ones who developed the pre-split Harvest Moon games, haha.
Old harvest moon is made by Marvelous, not Natsume. Natsume is just publisher for global, and now Marvelous makes new name for this game which is "Story of Seasons".
Harvest moon nowadays is fake harvest moon made by Natsume.

I got the remake recently and saw people talking about the gamecube version (which I haven't played sadly since I didn't have a gamecube) so I went online to look at the old version and found this vid! The first time was so nice
I like how the number of unique/interesting stuff slows to a crawl after like, year 3 in a 10 year game. No wonder the rereleases & remakes cut the number of years in half.
Even then, the game is still super front loaded. Maybe it's because I tried REALLY hard to 100% the remake, but I didn't have much to do in the last two chapters lol

This game was the first game I ever experience of harvest moon. My friend had it, and brought it over and I play over-night with it. I remember the artist route was what my kid choose, and the ending.
While the original will always have the charm, I think the remake is better in the quality of life. At least the plant wise. it was so long to plant stuff that I just don't like to do it. I never knew about venny so never had hybird plants so yeah. lol.
This game will hold a special place in my heart, though I likely never pick it up to play again. The memories be fond though. Especially me nick picking some odd chooses of remake.
I feel you. The remake is much more "bingeable" if that makes sense. It's a lot easier to get sucked into the "just one more day" trance since everything is streamlined. The original will always hold that charm for me, so I will go back and play it once in a while lol

I couldn't tell for sure if you were doing this, but did you know you can water and fertilize your crops 2x a day if you do it early enough? That could be why some of your crops didn't get to S Rank and some crops didn't fully grow before seasons changing

This game definitely had a lot of "secrets" if you want to call them that. I think I was just young and stupid and wanted to run around and talk to people lol.
I got the discs by doing some tomfoolery using gecko codes by replacing flowers with the discs. You can still utilize the GBA link system so that Van sells the discs, but I didn't have all that hardware lol

I love and am enjoying the remake but idk man, the original just have a certain charm to it. I love the realistic rustic approach they went for this game. The original also provides more of a challenge since animals can get sick and die. So while the remake is great I don't think it'll fully replace the original at least not entirely I think the original still offers enough that differentiates it from the remake that I can see myself coming back too it still. Mainly for the vibes it gives off.
I also prefer some of the original designs like Cody and Murray as an example.
I'm right there with you. I'm actually kinda glad the remake is "different," if that makes sense? It definitely makes the experience unique. I can come back to the original and get the more unforgiving, gritty mechanics with all the names and locations I loved, or play the remake and have a more streamlined, easier playthrough.

I don't know if anyone else had the same experience, but when I was playing this as a kid and finally had my family and a baby, I can't remember who I was talking to or if I was on early online forums but I heard 'Daryl will try to steal your baby'. As a little kid, I was TERRIFIED lol, so terrified that I didn't open up my game for weeks. It was probably a hoax based off the Family Interaction scene, but it was an early core memory and I loved AWL so much lol. A shame my uncle pawned my old gamecube for drug money, FUCK that guy D:

The worst thing about the remake are Nik Nac and Flak are renamed to Ace, Jack, and Hart.
I mean, I always personally identified with the tiny blue one, so the fact he is named Jack is super cool to me lol. But I agree, I don't know what was wrong with those names since they didn't mention them in the localization blogs
I still remember Play this in ps2 with sister guidance although both of us is new to this.
But if i say this game is friendly harvest moon for newcomer to play it slow unlike it previous and next gen game.
Mostly because, you don't have to friend anyone (although if you do, it just ease your game)
You don't have to care for your bachelor(although again, i heard that if you poorly timing your sleep at the final year one, you got bad ending that no one will marrying you.) But the game will randomly pick you a girl to be married 😂 like in previous gen, you have to force your way to get one now they will come at you forcefully lol.
Finally, getting money is tedious if you don't know what to do but you don't even need too much money if you play casual... Yes everything expensive but if you like to play it the way you want hey it's quite enjoyable.

Time? I mean you died. Previous gen and new one never letting the player died but this game funny enough kill you as you grow old but that's the good part and bad too

in the ps2 version of a wonderful like special edition the crop basket was obtained like right at the start. is this different in this version?
That's correct. In the original version, you had to show a Generation 3 Hybrid Crop to Takakura, then a couple days later, he would bring you the crop basket. I don't know how it is in the PS2 version, but you can only ship Gen 3 crops and seeds through the basket in the OG

The Chao Garden theme!
To put it very lightly, I was beside myself when I learned that sonic frontiers wouldn't have a chao garden. Didn't even buy the game because of that fact.
So it's true ... you can't get the fckng chihuahua. My life was a lie
There was a ton of rumors back in the day about the chihuahua, lizard, and that shed you can't get into on the farm lol
The graphics are so much better than on the switch. The switch one makes my eyes bleed sometimes.
The graphics for AWL hold up so well, especially when you compare them to other 3D titles at the same time. Just looking at this game makes my soul happy lol

I always try to set my expectations pretty low, so the remake is surprisingly refreshing lol
I've gotta say the ps2 version is way better, mostly because you can marry lumina in it. The only bachelorette I really liked in the game cube version was Nami
The PS2 version is the special edition and includes a whole bunch of stuff from AnWL and patches for broken things, so that makes sense. The only issue with that was I heard it is kinda laggy and unoptimized lol

To beat the territory capture game just play on defense. Block all of his attempts to make the last connection.
I always had trouble with that method since I could never predict where he would go, so I always just utilized the outside sections and essentially trapped him lol

Hello! In the special edition, you need to fertilize your pasture for grass to grow! Just head over to Vestas, purchase some fertilizer, and place it in your field!

in the remake, so far I can only play against one twin, and I've beat him more than 10 times. I'm curious what their change is (i've only not won like 3 games and two of them were draws)
I honestly don't know, I swear I saw footage of playing against the other twin before, but maybe that's a later chapter thing? Who knows honestly lol

@@cc2597 I think the firework is something you can get in later chapters if you befriend them. You can only get Gems and a music disk for beating them in the remake lol

I really likes this series! It was fun to follow along and now that it’s all together i can just rewatch it in the background of whatever im doing. If i had one complaint, I was not a fan of the constant twitch plugging
Thanks so much for watching! Your complaint is more than fair, and something I picked up on as well. That being said, I have an explanation.
I plugged twitch hard because I really wanted the entire series to be "interactive." I played AWL as a kid in tandem with my siblings, and the idea behind this series when I first started was to mirror that feeling with my live viewers being able to shape how the story went.
If I were to redo this series, I would probably do it offline just focusing on completing milestones and doing a social plug in the Outro. I appreciate your critique and will think about hat moving forward!

dont try and bother to try and block your opponent just go for trying and make the biggest circles in the mini game as you can
hell start to try and block you while you are trying to close you circles but just evade in it inside out is how i always win the mini games gives you ores nothing else
My best advice for the mini game was just to take up as much of permimeter as possible and disrupt him form making shapes. In this version, you only get ores, but in the remake and AnWL/SE, you get a record after ten wins lol

How did you get all the music CD’s?
Great question. In the original, you'd have to set up a game link with Friends of Mineral Town on the Gameboy Advance. In the Special Edition, you can get them just by befriending a bunch of characters. I know that if you emulate the game, there are, allegedly, a couple of cheat codes that you can do that turn objects in your hands into records, or something like that. Of course, I would never do that as a upstanding citizen. 🤐

Great Question! In the original, I'm not sure if they patched the dupe in the Special Edition or AnWL, all you have to do is go to the kitchen, start making a recipe and put Ruby's spice in the first square. Then complete the recipe and then you'll have multiple Ruby Spices.
I will mention that Ruby Spice, as long as you use it in a recipe, is infinite. You can use it in one recipe and it won't be used up.
Lol i need to figure out how to damn eat some food cause my guy keeps getting dizzy but have no idea where to eat at anywhere 😂
If you're guy is getting dizzy, that's because he's out of stamina. In the Original Gamecube version, there is an invisible stamina bar that increases as you do farm work. As you progress in game, you'll notice that your character stops getting dizzy as often.
@JackDuckGoose ohhhh ok thank you. An invisible status bar sounds like a brain dead ux decision but what can you do. I was scared my dude was gonna starve to death lol now ill just work at a good pace

I'm defintly going to try too lol. There's still a lot that hasen't been discovered in terms of cut scenes, items, etc. so my series will just be trying to see as much as possible without putting too much pressure on "getting everything"

Holy crap! I did not know that this specific game out of all the farming sims out there (other harvest moons, animal crossing, stardew valley, rune factory) not only had your child actually grow into adult hood, but also had you grow old with them and die. This game is actually so special and I didn't know of this franchise until stardew got big. Nah this game is a master piece and I actually wish the other sims had this same mechanic, at least just getting to visually see you and your child grow older. Because to be honest, even without knowing this mechanic was actually around I always felt something was missing from the other sims. Like coming in every day just to see your child grow no older or you and your spouse made it feel like time wasn't actually moving. Although if the mechanic does make a come back let's have the ending be you and your spouse sitting in some rocking chairs on your porch, I'd like that ending a bit more.
The narrative really is the best part of the game for me. The fact that they're is a ticking clock makes every moment that much more important, especially since your actions in-game, such as who you befriend, who you marry, and how you spend your time, actually affect your child's career at the end of the game. It really is a masterpiece.

Great questions! I'm playing the original GameCube release, you're probably playing the Special Edition that was released for the PS2. In that version, the UI is changed and they make some mechanical changes like fertilizing the pasture, adding new cutscenes and gifts, and even decreasing the chapter length to one year per chapter.

too bad the ps2 port was horrible, and it was the only one I played, and in the end I just quit out of frustration because it was slow, only to discover later it was a bad port.
Bad ports really need to be something we left behind but it still prevails to this day
