I guess the only disadvantage of bamboo is that it can grow too quickly and get out of control even on poor nutrient soil, making it easily invasive.
@@zerotodona1495 its because they're stupid very cute, but very stupid. not only their stomach's arent made to eat bamboo (they are carnivores that are so stupid, they just decided collectively to just eat plants, without getting proper ability to digest it) - but their diet also doesnt make sense when it comes to their mating (they consume 2 types of bamboo, one type that grows in spring and another in summer, getting different nutrients from each.... they mate in spring, but nutrients they need for pregnancy are in SUMMER type, meaning that mama panda wont get pregnant TILL then), as well as they are pretty terrible parents. they are alive solely because they're cute and china wants to use them as political leverage because of it.

I did that with Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns. My main file was a female protag(all the towns A or S rank and basically around when I was gonna choose who of those I had my eye on to smooch) but with the DLC out I wanted to make my 2nd file a guy file because I loved the DLC romanceable gal. I wrote over my OG, 200-300+ hr file by mistake. ...Yeah I quit the game for well over ay ear and never quite got back in to it after.
Remember trying to play this but falling of it hard because of the villagers leaving if you don't speak to them/ship enough things. As a child, my brain was already overwhelmed trying to keep my farm going I didn't have enough hours in the days to keep everyone happy as well 😭
Me and my best friend as a kid played this like crazy. I had a file where I married Eve but then my memory card got corrupted 😢(anyone remember those things??) Then I started over and married Maria. This game will always have a place in my heart and I’ve loved watching these, Jack. Thanks so much!

As someone who's played a majority of the HM entries from 64 on up, MM was my absolute FAVORITE. It just felt like I actually had the most agency over things and actually had an impact over what was happening around me. Loved it. I purchased the AWL remake, and I don't hate it, but I don't love it like I did the original. It just feels like there isnt a lot to do.
MM is definitely up there as one of the best HM games for me. I agree with you on the remake. They definitely could have added some stuff, but I respect the choice to go for a more faithful remake.

If you ever do a 100% of Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town or Harvest Moon: Animal Parade, you can bet I'll be watching them at least 2-3 times. AP is probably my most favorite of all the games, with the OG on the SNES being a close second.
I know I just finished the 300 Day video...but ngl I kinda wanted to watch from the beginning again, so this is perfect timing! I can't tell you how cozy it is for me to watch videos of these nostalgic faves of mine when I don't have the time or capacity to replay them myself.

It's a pretty great series! Fair warning though, if you're looking to play more recent titles that are on the switch and PC, Harvest Moon became Stores of Seasons after some IP disputes with their former publisher.

Yeah, the villager interactions were always meh in my experience. I remake would definitely need to flesh out those characters. You're entirely right about fishing. Towards the end of 300 Days, I basically did farm chores and spent 13-15 in game hours fishing lol
I never hear anyone talk about this game, so finding this video makes me so happy. This makes me want to start up the old GameCube and start a new farm. This game was one of my favorites growing up, and I had a few save files, but never managed to “complete” the game. I still really want to, but the last time I tried, I got stressed out trying to keep up with all of the ugly weeds around town and couldn’t deal with it. I just want to play a game that’s exactly this but with the ability to actually clear weeds. My life would be complete. Thanks for the nostalgia! :)

I am a firm believer that Magical Melody has the highest ceiling of any HM game. The potential I see in a remake for MM is ludicrous. A remake really would butter my eggroll.

I was about 10 notes from finishing the game wayyyyy back when it came out! I loved playing this HM after coming home from school. Then my little sister accidentally saved over my file. Then my next file glitched and I was never able to get the Poor Note. So I gave up. Catching all the fish was probably my favorite challenge, thinking back on it. Cool video!

If I wanted to be pedantic, there technically IS one thing you missed, but you wouldn't be able to do it in the same save file; there's an alternate ending if you marry Jamie, evidently. I have trauma from this game as a child because my file kept getting corrupted and it wasn’t until years later that I learned it was because my brother would go on my file to play, then when saving would immediately turn off the GameCube even though it tells you not to do that :/ It’s cool to see a full 100% play through though!

Magical Melody has an inferior atmosphere to AWL, but it's the mechanical high point of the franchise (as the series slid into depressing stagnation afterward).
I tend to agree with that. Magical Melody really does have everything that I could want from a Harvest Moon game, but it's really tough to beat that AWL atmosphere lol

AWL was my first Harvest Moon game and it will always be my favorite, but I really like some of the mechanics in Magical Melody and hope for a remake lol
I feel you on AWL. I definitely played a bit of Magical Melody as a kid, but it required a lot of effort, especially in the first season, and some of the stamina mechanics can get annoying. Definitely worth a long play if you get a chance lol

I'm german 15 years ago, this game, including "lost in blue," was one of my favourite games back in the day, but it wasn't really popular in germany and in my school, English wasn't a subject jet so that's the starting point of how I learned English on my own, it's still bad in writing but understanding is like 90% accurate. And of cause since I'm german, when someone asks me if I can speak English, I will always just say "a little bit" and try to speak as little as possible.
Well you understanding of written English is very good! I played so much of Lost in Blue when I was a kid! I never really got very far, but the survival aspects of that game were so fun! I would love to see a remake of it lol

I always switched between this and AnWL and can't recall which one I must have absolutely played more of.... AnWL is so comfy and scratched that 'mature/realistic' itch, while MM got that cute, quirky, 'fantasy' niche filled for me lol I thought it was so cool that Jamie was always the opposite sex than your PC was, even though I hated their guts Fingers crossed big time for a MM remake sooner than later! (here's hoping dear dr. alex gets renamed so I don't have to continue my torture of my middleschool enemy sharing a name with my first ever spouselol)

you wanna know the WORST thing? Harvest Moon MM's weird glitch we still cant figure out the reasoning for (last i checked). Sometimes, the game will stutter and give you the max amount of money, about 99,999,999 if i recall. Now imagine trying to 100% the game after having gotten that glitch only to realize you hadn't gotten the poor note yet.... ...i havent returned to that old save in over a decade.....orz

I got A Wonderful Life when I was in fourth grade. I don't know if I've ever loved a game more. I was so excited when I learned about Magical Melody but playing it was a different story. The art style right off the bat just grossed me out as a child and the gameplay was totally different. I kept playing though. I tried so hard to love it but all the magic of A Wonderful Life was just gone. It was the first game I ever sold back to GameStop (or EB Games).
I definitely feel you on that. AWL was my introduction to Harvest Moon, so anything that was outside that style always threw me off. It's so funny that every other HM game was "normal" and the one I started with was a deviation from that lol
You've probably learned this already, but Jaime's gender is decided by yours! They will always be the opposite sex. It's perfectly safe to use they/them for Jaime, as their gender is vague, but it's also okay to use whatever appears in your game.
I'm curious what the Japanese version and language is like for Jamie. With the English translation and version, the final music note says that Jamie is a boy, or at the very least uses he/him pronouns lol

jamie is your opposite gender if you get married, but is otherwise referred to with male personal pronouns. its because they were never actually intended to be a marriage candidate and the game just ends when you do get married in the english version for that reason. i think they/them and he/him pronouns for jamie are both equally good. hope that clears it up!

Oh man magical melody was my favorite as a kid, I remember loving the open worldness of it and the art style is so iconic. Nearly 20 years later and I discovered an infinite money glitch that got me back into it. Much easier to 100% it now.
Thanks so much! If you do want to play a more modern Harvest Moon game, make sure you play Story of Seasons. There was an IP dispute that resulted in the creators of Harvest Moon having to create a new brand, and the new Harvest Moon games are created by an entirely different company.
I always loved this game out of all the HM games. It just feels easier and more relaxing than others to play. I tried one newer one from Steam a while ago, but it just didn't click....
If you're playing Harvest Moon games like Winds of Anthos or One world, those are made by a different developer than older harvest moon games. The guys and girls who make Story of Seasons are the same people who made Magical Melody, Friends of Mineral Town, etc.

I am a firm believer that Magical Melody has the highest ceiling of any HM game. The potential I see in a remake for MM is ludicrous. A remake really would butter my eggroll.

I was about 10 notes from finishing the game wayyyyy back when it came out! I loved playing this HM after coming home from school.
Then my little sister accidentally saved over my file.
Then my next file glitched and I was never able to get the Poor Note. So I gave up. Catching all the fish was probably my favorite challenge, thinking back on it.

If I wanted to be pedantic, there technically IS one thing you missed, but you wouldn't be able to do it in the same save file; there's an alternate ending if you marry Jamie, evidently. Though, the hoops you have to jump through to accomplish that are, uh, a lot.

Magical Melody was my favorite of the harvest moons in general. we had it for the wii, and i used to come home from school and play it until dinner. always named my first two chickens atlas and perseus, and my first cow moomin.

I really loved that one, it was my first harvest moon, and my first farming type game at all! My mom got obsessed with it, even calling me at school to ask for advice :) It has such fond memories for me. I would love to see a video on it.

I have trauma from this game as a child because my file kept getting corrupted and it wasn’t until years later that I learned it was because my brother would go on my file to play, then when saving would immediately turn off the GameCube even though it tells you not to do that :/

I remember sinking a fair few hours into harvest festival for the wii, but for whatever reason the events would always be cancelled due to 'low turnout' and I never understood what I was doing wrong. I also remember my character constantly falling on his face because I thought it was funny to keep him sleep deprived

Magical Melody has an inferior atmosphere to AWL, but it's the mechanical high point of the franchise (as the series slid into depressing stagnation afterward).
I tend to agree with that. Magical Melody really does have everything that I could want from a Harvest Moon game, but it's really tough to beat that AWL atmosphere lol
Watching this just makes me hope they give us a proper remake!! I feel like all of the harvest moon games are unique enough to come back, especially this one with its farm buying mechanics and literal achievement system!

I feel you on AWL. I definitely played a bit of Magical Melody as a kid, but it required a lot of effort, especially in the first season, and some of the stamina mechanics can get annoying. Definitely worth a long play if you get a chance lol
Harvest Moon Magical Melody was my first game from the franchise. It wasnt even mine but the game from my friends sister. But I loved playing it. I'm german
15 years ago, this game, including "lost in blue," was one of my favourite games back in the day, but it wasn't really popular in germany and in my school, English wasn't a subject jet so that's the starting point of how I learned English on my own, it's still bad in writing but understanding is like 90% accurate.
And of cause since I'm german, when someone asks me if I can speak English, I will always just say "a little bit" and try to speak as little as possible.
Well you understanding of written English is very good! I played so much of Lost in Blue when I was a kid! I never really got very far, but the survival aspects of that game were so fun! I would love to see a remake of it lol
Honestly. The fact thats its hard to 100% is the reason this game is so good for me. I've never been able to do it. But I have extremly fond memories of playing it. Thats the only harvest moons game I spent that much time playing.... and i've speedrun another wonderful life on gbc xD

I always switched between this and AnWL and can't recall which one I must have absolutely played more of.... AnWL is so comfy and scratched that 'mature/realistic' itch, while MM got that cute, quirky, 'fantasy' niche filled for me lol I thought it was so cool that Jamie was always the opposite sex than your PC was, even though I hated their guts Fingers crossed big time for a MM remake sooner than later! (here's hoping dear dr. alex gets renamed so I don't have to continue my torture of my middleschool enemy sharing a name with my first ever spouselol)
AWL was just too perfect for me to play any other farming games as a kid. I would miss how chill it was when I played FoMT or Magical Melody since I always felt like the clock was ticking in those games lol

Looking back, the graphics and gameplay are pretty good for its time. Maybe even better than a lot of modern games.
Magical Melody really does have a charm to it that some modern titles seam to lack. For me, I feel like most modern games all look the same or are all trying to pander to the same audience. MM really is out there comparatively lol

you wanna know the WORST thing? Harvest Moon MM's weird glitch we still cant figure out the reasoning for (last i checked). Sometimes, the game will stutter and give you the max amount of money, about 99,999,999 if i recall. Now imagine trying to 100% the game after having gotten that glitch only to realize you hadn't gotten the poor note yet....
...i havent returned to that old save in over a decade.....orz
LMAO that's painful. I remember looking up a glitch where you use a tool inside your house and gives you money, but that's crazy!
I played this for so long. Very nostalgic, but there were multiple years that I needed to collect all noted before getting married lol 😅
It took me about 2 and a half years to get all the notes, the long part was befriending every villager and animal lol

I got A Wonderful Life when I was in fourth grade. I don't know if I've ever loved a game more. I was so excited when I learned about Magical Melody but playing it was a different story. The art style right off the bat just grossed me out as a child and the gameplay was totally different. I kept playing though. I tried so hard to love it but all the magic of A Wonderful Life was just gone. It was the first game I ever sold back to GameStop (or EB Games).
I definitely feel you on that. AWL was my introduction to Harvest Moon, so anything that was outside that style always threw me off. It's so funny that every other HM game was "normal" and the one I started with was a deviation from that lol
You've probably learned this already, but Jaime's gender is decided by yours! They will always be the opposite sex. It's perfectly safe to use they/them for Jaime, as their gender is vague, but it's also okay to use whatever appears in your game.
I'm curious what the Japanese version and language is like for Jamie. With the English translation and version, the final music note says that Jamie is a boy, or at the very least uses he/him pronouns lol

jamie is your opposite gender if you get married, but is otherwise referred to with male personal pronouns. its because they were never actually intended to be a marriage candidate and the game just ends when you do get married in the english version for that reason. i think they/them and he/him pronouns for jamie are both equally good. hope that clears it up!

Oh man magical melody was my favorite as a kid, I remember loving the open worldness of it and the art style is so iconic. Nearly 20 years later and I discovered an infinite money glitch that got me back into it. Much easier to 100% it now.

Thanks so much! If you do want to play a more modern Harvest Moon game, make sure you play Story of Seasons. There was an IP dispute that resulted in the creators of Harvest Moon having to create a new brand, and the new Harvest Moon games are created by an entirely different company.
I always loved this game out of all the HM games. It just feels easier and more relaxing than others to play. I tried one newer one from Steam a while ago, but it just didn't click....
If you're playing Harvest Moon games like Winds of Anthos or One world, those are made by a different developer than older harvest moon games. The guys and girls who make Story of Seasons are the same people who made Magical Melody, Friends of Mineral Town, etc.
