    For backgrounds I like to use the frosted window film from my local home improvement store AND put a smart led light strip between the tank.

      I hadn’t thought about the smart light strip idea before. That’s a good idea! I’m a personal fan of the frosted film.

    I really like the way you greet viewers whether new or existing, it improves the mood of the whole video.

      Hey thanks! I've been debating whether I should change that intro over the last few weeks so this feedback is fantastic!

    Great tips! i even have an extra for the background. I like to put potted plants like pothos, monstera, philodendron, or even ficus behind the tank and let the leaves be the background of the tank. Of course, this is more for nature/biotope style tanks, but that’s the way I like like them personally anyway (;

    This is the ultimate for someone who is really vicariously inclined which thankfully I have always believed that whatever good things that are going to happen to whoever is the recipient is EXACTLY what the purpose of getting the backpack and lunchbox and sitting in a desk was for.....and forget about the desires of your drama that is always a few clicks away and the best English speaking Aquascaping channels that have been constantly bombarded with the most ridiculous comments has sadly changed the way the majority of the creators communicate.... It never fails when ANYTHING of value in the video is being mentioned or the number of plants to achieve that look your 1st instinct is to include the reasons for it and how to get the same look by doing X ... Sadly I am noticing that fear of upsetting someone who is completely out of their minds because Balazs Farkas who has gone from a guy who loves everything about the Japanese culture and wasn't even the slightest concerned about the way people were crying because ADA is not available for layaway @ Wal Mart has IMO appeared more and more using less and less and pretty much does not even say ADA anymore! Sorry for the rant but I hope you will have nothing but the best of the best in the future and your channel is exactly what you want it to be without the little 👹 on your shoulder saying that BS PC garbage that I can see each time I am watching MD Fishtanks, Logan's channel is dealing with it too. 🤬

    I like to do my background contest style and by that I mean I have no background most of the time but will angle a white panel behind the tank and illuminate it to achieve an optimized look for a photo op, I find this method causes the least hassle for maintenance whilst adding even more depth than what the light screen can offer. I do like the way light screens look but they noticeable increase algae, the frosted white background also can act like an algae magnet though definitely less than the light screen.

    All of the tips were really good and genius but i think we should call aquascaping art and not hobby... What do you think? Because there are people who do aquascaping and scaping in general professionally..

    • @SimplyAquascaping
      @SimplyAquascaping  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very good point! I think it really boils down to just how different people view it you know? For some it may be an art form whereas for others it might just be as simple as a hobby. Definitely something I'll take into consideration when talking about it though.

      I disagree that the terms are mutually exclusive. Video games can be both art and hobby, film, etc... even more "practical" areas like woodworking or craft making - both art and a hobby. Also just because something is done professionally doesn't inherently make it art, nor does it make it inherently better or more artistic than someone aquascaping in their basement for themself. I think this is a dangerous path to go down that just leads to gatekeeping a hobby and and artform we all love, and the more accessible we can make entry into community the more people will spend their money on it and the more companies see value to investing in innovation and new things for us all (not to mention bringing the prices down when larger batches of items can be manufactured).

    I am just wondering, if you look at video's from different aquascapers on youtube, you see a trend.. Everybody seems to do the same things at the same time. For example 3 years ago everybody started making video's about the dry method or the dark method. Then a year later everybody is doing something else again. If i look at the latest content of those aquascapers, lets say the video's of the last year, they all make beautiful tanks, with the most amazing (sponsored) equipment, BUT they scape, plant, put water in and done.. where is that dry method, that dark method? Nobody is using it anymore it seems. I am a starting hobbyist, but what to do with these tips and trick you see emerging and dissapearing again?

    • @SimplyAquascaping
      @SimplyAquascaping  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      When it comes to the dark start and dry start method it's not something that's necessary for every tank you set up. ultimately it really comes down to the creators decision whether they think any of those methods will help the particular aquascape. I typically like to dry start my tanks, but that's only if I want to have a carpet. Dark starting is always good but again not always necessary. I think it's really just the scapers decision and there is not right or wrong way to build a tank.

    • @Ray47nl

      @@SimplyAquascaping Thank you for responding this quick. The reason i want to try the dry start is indeed to buy less plants and make a scape then let the plants grow like a carpet first (and also let moss grown on the wood), without the problems of algae. But since i also want to use Co2 in the tank, i am not sure if planting and use co2 right away doesnt grow a carpet quick also. But i guess that will depend on the plants (quick/slow growing).

    • @SimplyAquascaping
      @SimplyAquascaping  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I actually am making a video on this very topic in a few weeks. I would recommend only dry starting the carpet and moss. Plant everything else later and let the roots of the carpet and moss settle in first. Since you're going to use Co2 the growth speed of all the other plants will be quicker than normal and you should have a full tank in no time!
